Chapter 206: Chapter 206: Humiliation

Mrs. Tang arrived at the family courtyard and finally saw the son and grandson she’d been longing for, but she wasn’t happy in the slightest.

The moment she saw her son, she spent the entire day crying.

And crying all day had been useless. Su Li had just left, just like that, and hadn’t come back.

Utterly shameless.

Mrs. Tang was about to burst from rage.

The old saying is true: a son forgets his mother once he gets a wife.

She used to think her son, Tangyuan, wasn’t like that. She thought he was the most filial son in the world, someone who would never forget his mother for his wife.

But on this trip, Mrs. Tang was sure.

Her Tangyuan had truly been bewitched by Su Li!

If she could still convince herself otherwise back in Xinghua Village, on her first day at the family courtyard, she saw the truth.

Tangyuan was truly mesmerized by Su Li—so mesmerized that he no longer listened to her and had started to defy his own mother!

Tang Yuanxiao kept defending Su Li and even scolded her for Su Li’s sake. Mrs. Tang’s heart went cold.

In the end, it was her darling Little Tang Mo who managed to coax Mrs. Tang out of her tantrum. Tang Yuanxiao breathed a sigh of relief, completely unaware of the anger, hatred, and plans brewing in his mother’s heart.

The next day, Tang Yuanxiao had to work, so he left early in the morning.

After dropping Little Tang Mo off at school, Mrs. Tang didn’t go home. Instead, she started asking for directions to the Imperial City and to Su Li’s school.

She couldn’t swallow her anger!

She hardened her heart, suppressed her fear, and set off on her journey.

Mrs. Tang asked for directions the whole way, twisting and turning, until she finally found Huaguo Communication University.

"It’s just up ahead. Keep going straight for about a hundred meters and you’ll be there."

The kind stranger’s confident directions allowed Mrs. Tang to breathe a sigh of relief.

’I finally found it. The Imperial City is huge. I’m lucky I didn’t get lost.’

She was feeling relieved, but that relief didn’t last long before she suddenly spotted Su Li.

Su Li was walking out of a room with a young man, talking and laughing.

They were laughing, standing so close, and coming out of a room together. It was her worst nightmare come to life again.

The tightly wound string in Mrs. Tang’s mind snapped.

She strode forward and slapped Su Li across the face.

"So this is ’going to school’? I see you’re here to sneak around with other men! You harlot!" Mrs. Tang’s eyes were bloodshot, her face twisted with madness. freewēbnoveℓ.com

The same rage and madness from when she’d tried to catch her in the act back in Xinghua Village flared up again, only this time, she had caught Su Li red-handed.

She grabbed a handful of Su Li’s hair and began viciously pulling, punching, and kicking.

"I knew you were no good! I knew you were going to cheat! You bitch, I should have finished you off back then..."

The stunned craftsman standing nearby finally snapped out of it and rushed to pull Mrs. Tang away.

"Hey, stop! Don’t just hit people..."

If he hadn’t pulled her or said anything, it might have been fine. But his actions and words only served to completely enrage Mrs. Tang.

"You dare protect her!"

Mrs. Tang spun around and started scratching and clawing at the craftsman’s face. Still gripping Su Li’s hair with one hand, she lunged at him like a wild animal, her face contorted with madness.

"I’m going to beat you two adulterers to death today!"

After scratching and clawing his face until it was covered in wounds, Mrs. Tang slammed her head hard into the craftsman’s body.

"Stop." Her ears ringing and her scalp feeling like it was about to be torn off, Su Li finally recovered from her dizzy spell.

Wresting her hair back from Mrs. Tang’s grasp, Su Li used all her strength to wrap her arms around the older woman, who was biting and screaming like a mad dog. Mrs. Tang struggled frantically, and when she couldn’t break free from Su Li’s hold, she viciously kicked upwards at the craftsman’s groin.

"Stealing another man’s wife, are you?! I’ll make sure you can never have children! Let’s see you try to steal anyone now!"

"ARGH..." The craftsman let out a pained cry and collapsed to the ground.

"Sir..." Su Li stared at the craftsman, who was curled up on the ground with his face turning purple, a mix of shock and fury rising within her.

"You damned bitch, let go of me!" Mrs. Tang was still struggling wildly. Seeing that she couldn’t break free, she lowered her head and viciously bit down on Su Li’s hand.

"Ah!" Su Li cried out in pain, tears instantly streaming down her face.

"Let go," Mrs. Tang mumbled threateningly, her teeth still clamped firmly on Su Li’s hand.

Mrs. Tang bit down extremely hard, drawing blood almost immediately.

Su Li’s hand trembled with pain, and she almost let go of Mrs. Tang, but she gritted her teeth and held on.

"Help me. Help me call the police. Thank you."

Su Li pleaded with the onlookers who had gathered at the commotion.

The crowd didn’t know the full story, but seeing how vicious Mrs. Tang was, they worried something terrible might happen and quickly helped call the police.

"Don’t think you can scare me by calling the police! I’m not afraid! Let me go! You’re still protecting your lover at a time like this! I’m going to kill you adulterous pair!"

Mrs. Tang finally released her bite and lifted her head to curse them.

With her mouth full of blood and her face contorted in a savage expression, she looked like a madwoman.

Unable to wait for the police to arrive, some kind-hearted people finally stepped forward to help Su Li restrain Mrs. Tang.

Once she let go of Mrs. Tang, Su Li collapsed to the ground, completely spent. Her hair had been pulled loose and was disheveled, leaving her looking utterly wretched.

Traces of blood were visible where patches of her scalp had been torn away. Her face was already red and swollen from the slap, leaving a clear handprint.

And on her hand, Mrs. Tang had left deep teeth marks, which were bleeding profusely and throbbing with spasmodic pain.

Su Li didn’t need to look to know how pathetic and horrifying she must appear, but she couldn’t spare it a thought.

She crawled on all fours over to the innocent craftsman who had been dragged into this. "Sir, are you okay?"

"Could you all please help me get him to the hospital? I’m begging you, please help..."

Su Li was at the hospital again, not even half a month after her last visit.

"The treatment room is this way. Come with me," a nurse said urgently when she saw Su Li.

But Su Li shook her head. "No, see him first. Please, see this gentleman first. He was kicked..."

"Okay, the doctor will see him. But your hand wound needs to be treated too. You come here first." The nurse pulled Su Li directly into the treatment room.

"How could someone bite so hard, so deep..." The nurse assisting the doctor trailed off awkwardly after seeing Su Li’s face.

"Get her an ice pack," the doctor said to the nurse after glancing at Su Li’s face.

"Okay." The nurse didn’t dare say more and hurried off.

The cold sensation on her cheek finally brought some feeling back to Su Li’s numb face.

"Thank you," she said in a low voice.

"You’re welcome," the nurse replied, shaking her head.

"Human bites can be infectious, so this wound needs to be cleaned and disinfected several times. It’s going to hurt a lot. You’ll have to bear with it," the doctor said quietly.

"It’s fine. Go ahead." ’What’s a little pain like this, anyway...’

"How is the man who was brought in with me?" Su Li asked the nurse.

"They’re still examining him. You’ll have to wait."

Su Li nodded, taking a couple of deep breaths to compose herself. "Could I borrow the hospital’s phone for a moment?"

"If it’s an emergency, yes."

After her hand was bandaged, the craftsman was still not out, so Su Li went to make the call first.

"Aunt Chang, it’s Su Li. Could you please tell Tang Yuanxiao to come to the Imperial City? His mother was taken away by the police."

"The police? What happened?" Aunt Chang exclaimed in shock.

"She misunderstood something about me and a work colleague and attacked him. I brought him to the hospital, and I don’t know his condition yet. Aunt Chang, please, have Tang Yuanxiao come as soon as possible."

Su Li hung up the phone and sank into a chair, her strength gone.

’The craftsman... Please be okay. Please, please be okay...’
