Chapter 332: The Suggestion to Gamble.
"They are crazy," is what she was thinking as she read the document on the investment plan if she were to green-light the operation.
Being the one who made the approval for major expenditures and reading all of the reports before approving them, she knew at the moment they had about a billion dollars that could be accessed within a week if they wanted, which was currently in the stock market and treasury bonds.
That was the amount she expected Fatih and Odin Analytics to take as the maximum possible money they would be moving, but it seems the risk-taking and going all-in was a culture they inherited from her son, as that was not the amount they were thinking of as the starting capital at all, but more.
They also planned to use the 200,000 in bitcoins that they still had as collateral to borrow against their current worth, which would net them about a billion and a half dollars, increasing the amount of money they would have for investment to 2.5 billion dollars.
But that was not it; they planned on employing tools like leverage, total return swaps, and other additional instruments that would bring the total of funds that they would be investing to 10 billion dollars.
Worse of all, this was going to be deployed in a single bet that the market was going to go down, but divided across different instruments. However, all of those instruments would be betting on the market falling, meaning if it went the other way, they would be losing their money and getting into massive debt.
It was something that she would definitely not even consider, but as she read through the document, she read the estimate of how much they would be making if the market fell by even a little, and that alone was enough to make her consider accepting it. But their calculation projected a fall that would be at minimum ten times that, meaning the returns would be astronomical if they were right - but only if they were right.
She knew it was not a decision that she could make from a single read of the document, so once she was done reading, she put them aside and tried to fall asleep. But there was no one in the world who would be able to sleep after having read a document that predicted something massive but also the possible gains that could be made if they were right.
She didn’t have too much time, because the earlier they set their bet, the cheaper they could place those bets, as the market currently was the most stable it has ever been and people were not even considering that something might happen to interrupt the rise, and the higher the returns were going to be. So she needed to think about it carefully but also make the decision as fast as possible.
.....
Meanwhile, the one who had caused his mother to not be able to fall asleep was currently in the middle of a very exciting battle against Apollo at his favorite track, Silverstone, in RB14 cars.
And he was in the middle of experiencing the nightmare he had been on the giving end of for his entire career, as Apollo toyed with him by increasing the gap in corners only to slow down for him to catch up so that he could mess with him again and again for the entire four-hour simulation, not being able to make a single overtake attempt against Apollo stick.
All his dive-bomb attempts were let through as Apollo switched back, and his attempts at sending him dummies to make him make mistakes were met with no reaction at all, leaving him to eat the smoke from Apollo’s car for the entire duration.
But despite that, for the entire four hours he drove that car, the smile never left his face even under the helmet, as he was fully living his dream, something he could only daydream about in his previous life but was finally able to make a reality, and the best cure for his anxiety.
"Are you sure she will agree with it?" Apollo asked Fatih as he waited for the remaining few minutes of the simulator time to come to an end.
"What?"
"To you who know it will happen, it looks like a very clear thing, but to her, it probably looks like a very long shot, one that feels like you found the diagnosis or the verdict and are forcing everything else to fit that narrative. You also expect her to risk putting the family into billions in debt if you are wrong and, even worse, lose the money that you had earned?" Apollo reminded him that to someone reading a report and not having experienced it, it was too big of a gamble to take. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
"I will do my best to make her accept it because it is too big of an opportunity to just let go. Plus, Helios needs more than a billion dollars in 2020 and every year after that if I want the company to be ready to contend with Nvidia on the software side during the AI bubble," Fatih said.
He had read so many books on the economy and investing that he felt he could get his doctorate if he wrote a thesis on it, having written everything related to this period that he remembered and walked back from there to come up with everything that would cause these things to happen the way they did, and to invest in those things to increase the money he has, which should increase the freedom he has in doing everything that he imagined doing in his life.
"What if it doesn’t happen as you imagined it?" Apollo asked, to see if he had even considered things not going as he imagined. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
"I don’t know. I haven’t thought about that," he said after thinking about the question for a moment.
"The perks of being reborn," Apollo said, seeing as Fatih had never even considered the possibility of things not happening due to how confident he was of things happening as he remembered them.
.....
The next day, while Fatih went to school, Rümeysa called for a meeting with everyone from Odin Analytics, wanting them to answer all the questions she had come up with during an entire night of not being able to sleep.
This was in the absence of her son so that she could ask the questions with as much freedom as possible without wondering if they were influenced by her son to reach that direction due to him being the son of the one who created and was funding the company, leaving them no choice.
And after an entire night of no sleep, she had a mountain of them, as this was the first of many steps that she had to take, and she needed to have all the questions answered clearly before she decided to move to the second step and a few more steps, like gathering the investment special purpose vehicle companies established under the company to hear their thoughts before she decided on either going through with it or shelving it.
