Chapter 211: Did He Always Do This Before?
Christopher stared at her tempting red lips and felt eager.
They were so close to each other that he could even feel her breath, and her seductive red lips were only one finger away from his. He could even smell her as long as he lowered his head.
It would be a lie to say that he didn’t have any chemistry with her.
"But could I really kiss her?" He thought uncertainly.
His mind was preoccupied by the thoughts, but his body responded to her honestly.
He slowly moved near to her...
But when he was about to kiss her, he suddenly left off.
"No, I can’t touch her until I recover my memory." He told himself in his heart.
Thinking of this, he let go of her and took a difficult step back to extricate himself from her. He glanced at her closed eyes, then turned around and hurriedly walked towards the bathroom.
Janice didn’t open her eyes until the bathroom door was closed. She stared at the closed door for a while and couldn’t help sighing. "I was defeated again." She thought.
However, she was already satisfied, as long as he did not dislike her. Thinking of that, she inwardly cheered on herself, "Come on."
She glanced in the direction of the bathroom, thinking that he had just untied the bandages today. She did not know if he needed any help, so she walked to the bathroom, knocked on the door and asked, "Do you need my help?"
"No." Christopher said.
"OK." She shrugged and turned away.
In the bathroom, Christopher stood under the water and took a cold shower, gradually calming himself down.
This woman was ensnaring him, and he almost got out of control.
"No, I have to keep a distance from her." He thought to himself and made up his mind.
However, when he finished bathing and came out from the bathroom, he found that Janice had fallen asleep on the bed.
"Why did she sleep here in broad daylight? Besides, that’s my bed." He thought.
Christopher frowned and walked forward. He wanted to wake her up, but he found that her hair was still wet.
<So how sleepy was she that she didn’t even have time to dry her hair?>
Thinking of this, he wrinkled his brows, then walked back to the bathroom and took out a hairdryer. In order not to wake her up, he gently took out his soundproof earmuffs from the drawer and put them on for her carefully. After that, he turned on the hairdryer and use it to dry her hair.
However, he discovered that he seemed to be particularly proficient in blow-drying hair.
His fingers passed through her black hair, with the hot and dry wind blowing on his palm, which made him think of something familiar.
He seemed that he had always done this for her in the past. He was so skillful that he would even instinctively shield her from the heat.
<So, did I often do this before?>
<Or was it just my imagination?>
He was a little confused. He glanced down at her sleeping face and chuckled before moving his gaze away.
Just as he was about to leave, the phone suddenly rang. It was Janice’s phone which was placed beside the pillow. It sounded to be a message.
Christopher threw a quick glance at the screen and found Sophie’s name displayed on it.
<It was strange that they were obviously very unfriendly to each other. Why did they suddenly send messages?>
<What’s more, what happened today was quite odd as well.>
Thinking of this, Christopher reached out to pick up the phone. But when he saw the content of the message, he couldn’t help but be stunned.
Half an hour later, Christopher marched into Sophie’s office.

"Speak, what exactly happened today?"
After he sat down, he went straight to the point.
When Sophie Valen saw him arrive, she knew why he was here. However, she was not sure what exactly Janice Gladwell had told him.
So she said, "What’s going on, Chris? Didn’t I tell you? Janice offered to help."
As Sophie spoke, she poured a cup of Earl Grey tea and placed it on the table.
Christopher Bateman glanced at her with no expression on his face. "I saw the message you sent just now."
As he spoke, he handed over his cell phone. On the screen was the WhatsApp message he had taken a screenshot from Janice’s cell phone. It was the message that Sophie had sent him earlier, and it clearly stated, "Don’t forget what you promised before."
"So, what did she promise you?"
Christopher stared at her. Seeing that she did not respond, he continued, "Or, what did you use to threaten her?"
Hearing this, panic flashed across Sophie’s guilty face. However, her quick wits quickly calmed her down. "Chris, am I that bad?"
She said, full of grievances.
Christopher frowned and ignored her question.
Sophie bit her lip in frustration. "Since you have already made your own conclusion, then whatever I say is futile. However, I still have to say this. I don’t believe her. Have you forgotten how she abandoned you to be intimate with another man when you were hospitalized?"
"Cut that off! I was asking you about the message. It’s enough"
All of a sudden, he was short with Sophie.
Sophie, on the other hand, was taken aback by his sudden high pitch voice. Her face turned pale and she did not dare to say anything more.
Christopher did not know exactly what was wrong with him, but after hearing Sophie’s words, he was extremely unhappy. He was no longer in the mood to pursue the matter. With rage, he took his phone and turned to walk towards the door.
Seeing this, Sophie hurriedly chased after him.
"Chris..."
Christopher could not be bothered with her and continued walking out of the door. However, as soon as he opened the door, he bumped into Finn Moore, who was about to come in.
When Christopher saw Finn, he was stunned.
"Finn?"
When Finn saw Christopher, he was a little shocked, he lowered his head guiltily. "Mr... ... Mr. Bateman."
He was trembling. Christopher frowned
"You... when did you come back?"
"I... just came back."
Finn said.
Hearing this, Christopher did not say more. He just nodded and continued to walk forward.
When Finn saw this, he hurriedly moved aside. He felt extremely uneasy and guilty as Christopher walked off.
"Why are you still standing there? Hurry up and catch up."
Sophie suddenly said.
Finn was somewhat puzzled.
Sophie frowned. "Didn’t I tell you to return to Chris’ side?"
When he heard this, Finn finally reacted and quickly caught up.
"Mr. Bateman..."
Christopher walked to the front of the car. Hearing his voice, he stopped and turned to look at him. "What’s the matter?"
Finn panted and braced himself as he spoke.
"Mr. Bateman, I... I heard that Rob had resigned. Should I... go help you?"
After Finn finished speaking, he lowered his eyes and did not dare to look direct at Christopher’s eyes.
Christopher did not speak as he stared at him.
The truth was, since Rob Hanson had not been around, things had indeed not been going well for him recently. However, he was worried about Finn’s proposal.
...
He paused and said, "Not for the time being. You just came back. Go back and spend more time with Uncle Charlie."
With that, he opened the door of the driver’s seat, got in and drove off. Finn stood there and looked down at the dust behind the car.
"How is it? What did he say?"
She had been hiding inside till she saw that Christopher had left, then did she stepped out.
Finn looked at Sophie and said with guilt, "Mr. Bateman wants me to spend more time with my father."
Sophie glanced at him.
"Why didn’t you grab such a good opportunity? Let’s see if you still have the chance when Rob is back."
As Sophie spoke, she turned around and walked angrily towards the pet center.
When Finn saw that she was upset, he quickly caught up with her. "Sophie, don’t be mad. At worst, I’ll go beg Mr. Bateman again."
This was what Sophie was waiting for.
"That’s more like it."
After leaving the Pet Center, Finn returned to the old house of the Batemans.
Christopher was right. It was time for him to come see his father.
As soon as he got out of the cab, he saw an old man washing a car in the driveway.
He had literally recognized that figure to be his father with just a single glance.
Ever since he left home three years ago, he had never returned. Seeing his aged father, Finn’s eyes welled up with tears.
"Dad."
Uncle Charlie was washing the car when he suddenly heard a voice. He was stunned for a moment and turned around to look. When he saw that it was his son, his aged face froze.
"Finn? When... when did you come back?"
As he spoke, Uncle Charlie turned off the tap and walked over.
Faced with his father, Finn’s heart was filled with guilt. During the three years he had spent abroad, he had never been able to show love and concern for his father as a son.
Uncle Charlie seemed to have noticed something and sighed.
"It’s good that you’re back. Have you seen Mr. Bateman?"
Finn replied, "Yes."
Uncle Charlie let out another sigh.
"Mr. Bateman is also very pitiful. Finn, you grew up together with him, so you do show more concern and care for him."
"Got it." Finn nodded. However, he knew that even if he wanted to care about Mr.
Bateman, he might not necessarily be willing to accept it.
By the time Christopher returned to the villa, Janice Gladwell had already woken up.
When she could not find Christopher in the villa, she had thought that he had gone to the company, but she did not expect him to come back so soon.
She went up to him. "Did you go out?"
Christopher frowned and thought to himself, "Isn’t that obvious?"
However, he did not say anything and walked past her.
Janice could clearly sense he was moody and could flare up any moment.
She paused and followed him. "What’s wrong? You seem to have something on your mind."
Christopher did not speak. He took off his coat and threw it on the sofa. He unbuttoned his wrist links, walked to the dining area, poured a glass of water, and drank it. He put the glass back on the table and said to Janice.
"Are you hungry?"
Janice was taken aback before she glanced at the time and realized that it was already noon.
She touched her stomach. "A little."
Christopher asked, "Then why don’t you go cook?"
Janice had thought that he would say that he was going to cook, but instead, he asked her.
"Oh."
She was a little disappointed and walked towards the kitchen with a pout.
Christopher glanced at her as she left, then let out a sigh of relief. However, when he recalled the scene when he saw Finn at the pet center, he could not help feeling unease again.
He closed his eyes, turned around, and walked towards the study.
He entered the study, walked to a bookcase in the corner, and reached out to take a
book from the top shelf. He opened the book, and a yellowed photo appeared across the pages.
