Chapter 119: Chapter 119: This Is the Second Time

He tried to use the lack of anesthesia as an excuse to get Mr. Huo to give up on removing his stitches today.

"Then do it without anesthesia."

The attending doctor: "..."

Huo Jingyuan looked at the doctor. "Is that not possible?"

He had been unconscious when he was first injured, but his wound required emergency treatment while in transit. With no anesthesia on the plane, they had to stitch him up without it.

Even though he was unconscious, the pain was enough to wake him.

Before the doctor could answer, Wen Ci fixed her glare on Huo Jingyuan and said sternly, "Absolutely not. We’ll wait until they have anesthesia to remove the stitches."

"I want to go home."

"So I can go home and wait on you?"

A few nurses standing behind the attending doctor couldn’t help but laugh. They were usually the ones to administer Mr. Huo’s IV and change his dressings, but his cold expression always left them terrified.

They never would have expected it.

Mr. Huo was a completely different person in front of his wife.

Huo Jingyuan shut his mouth.

After returning home from the hospital visit, Wen Ci noticed that the courtyard gate was wide open. Even the door to the main house was left ajar.

Wen Ci’s brow furrowed, and she hurried inside.

Wen Yaozu was in the living room comforting Xiao Chuan, swinging his little fists. "If that mean lady comes back, I’ll help you chase her away."

Xiao Chuan’s body trembled, his eyes glistening as he choked out, "Thanks, boss."

Wen Yaozu patted his head.

Wen Ci, who had just walked in, heard what Yaozu said and asked, "Did someone come over?"

Hearing his sister’s voice, Wen Yaozu jumped up from the sofa and tattled, "Some strange woman just barged into the house for no reason! She really scared Xiao Chuan."

Xiao Chuan said in a soft, timid voice, "I’ve seen that lady before, in the other house."

Wen Ci knew at once who it had been.

She never imagined that Ms. Su, a birth mother, would not only show up at her door with accusations after hearing a few rumors, but would actually barge into her home.

A grim, icy glint flashed in Wen Ci’s eyes.

If Huo Jingyuan hadn’t been injured, she wouldn’t want anything to do with the Jiang Family at all.

After some comforting, Xiao Chuan calmed down.

Wen Ci reached out and ruffled Xiao Chuan’s hair, then sat on the sofa and asked gently, "Xiao Chuan, do you remember the uncle who was lying in the bed at the hospital?"

Xiao Chuan nodded. "I remember."

"That uncle is your uncle’s ’faxiao’."

"What’s a ’faxiao’?"

Wen Ci blinked and rephrased, "A ’faxiao’ means a very good friend."

Just then, the landline rang again. When Wen Ci answered, Xu Jinghe’s voice came through. "So, do you believe I’m Jingyuan’s ’faxiao’ now?"

"I believe you."

Xu Jinghe’s voice was the warm, gentle type, as smooth as jade.

"Is it okay if I call you Sister-in-law?"

Wen Ci: "..."

Back in the Northwest, all of Huo Jingyuan’s subordinates called her Sister-in-law.

’Why did his childhood friend have to call me that, too?’

"Are you younger than Huo Jingyuan?" Wen Ci asked curiously.

"Yes, I am."

Hearing this, Wen Ci was left speechless.

’Among men, the oldest one is always considered the big brother.’

Xiao Chuan looked at the phone. "Sister, is that my uncle calling?"

"Yes," Wen Ci replied, looking at Xiao Chuan.

Xu Jinghe said, "Sister-in-law, I need to ask you for a favor. Something has come up on my end, and I can’t get away right now. I was wondering if you could possibly help bring Xiao Chuan back to me."

Wen Ci’s gaze lowered slightly.

At the hospital, Huo Jingyuan had mentioned that Xu Jinghe was in the trading business now, and that he had to cancel many appointments just to come to Beijing to pick Xiao Chuan up himself.

"I can book your flight ticket; you’ll be able to return to Beijing the same day."

There were flights connecting the Capital with many provincial capitals, with two round trips per day. If one was in a hurry, they could leave Beijing in the morning and be back by the afternoon.
