Chapter 798: Chapter 387: Island Annihilation and Molten Lava

"What the hell?!"

Li Ang looked at the four who practically rolled and fell back onto the ship, their noise alerting Farina and the Dragon Twins.

"There’s a ghost!"

Andasu jumped behind Li Ang in a flash.

She was afraid of ghosts; her usually calm demeanor vanished at times like this, transforming from an elegant lone wolf into a frightened little deer.

On the other hand, Zoe and Dorothy, who were usually more vocal, appeared much calmer, though their eyes were still wide with shock as if contemplating what they had just seen.

"What did you see?" Li Ang asked.

"A young girl." ALulu, the calmest among them, said.

"Beast-Earkin?"

Li Ang immediately thought of the relative Mort had asked him to find.

"Didn’t notice, the light was too dim." Zoe shook her head.

"So, why did you all rush back now?"

Li Ang walked to the edge of the deck, pondered for a few seconds, and using the magic provided by the Magic Power Magic Scripture, conjured a Light Technique, casting it overboard.

The light ball slowly descended along the rope ladder the four had used, illuminating the ground brightly, even better than a flare, with a softer and longer-lasting effect.

Everyone leaned over the railing to look down, lighting up a ruined city and startling some small demons hiding in the crevices formed by solidified lava and buildings.

If anyone could still live on this island, this area seemed likely. It was far from the massive lava rivers, and the destruction of the buildings was not severe.

Mort’s map marked his relative’s residence. But the former city was destroyed, and subsequent maps were imprecise; coupled with the island’s uniform scenery and the airborne dust obscuring views, they hadn’t deliberately looked for that residence, focusing more on the Star Soul matter earlier.

Li Ang had planned to start searching from this relatively serene area at dawn, not expecting them to be so impatient.

"Because I saw a lot of people." Zoe said.

"People? A lot of them?"

"Yes, little fire people, all lively-looking."

Li Ang studied Zoe, feeling that this member of the Star Flower Travel Corps likely wasn’t one of those referred to as "considered intellectually normal solely because they can care for themselves."

Though he couldn’t believe in midnight gatherings of fire people, he suspected there was indeed something, just misinterpreted by the young girl.

"But there was indeed a young girl, we all can attest to that." Dorothy raised her hand.

The other three hadn’t seen what Zoe had seen earlier, but they indeed saw a young girl.

"Alright, what color was her hair?"

"Dark..."

"Black?"

"It was too dark, but it was definitely a dark color."

Fine, even Mort’s blue could be considered a dark color.

Li Ang donned the Armor of Wind and flew out from the Eternal Summer, circling above the city’s ruins.

Before coming here, he didn’t know much about Lupus, but by combining known snippets of information, he could deduce its basic info: it was a historically rich island nation, with old and new buildings interwoven in the city, walking through it was like witnessing its long history.

Yet all of this was completely destroyed by the flames erupting from underground. In ancient times, a normally stable volcano erupted violently, its unexpectedness and ferocity exceeding imaginable predictions, leading to such immense disaster.

As he flew, Li Ang felt something was amiss.

He remembered that Nebis was a Sky Island World, unlike Earth.

The geological activity scale and plateinternal forces on Earth were not comparable to the Sky Island, so volcanoes that lie dormant, then erupt violently, are plausible on Earth; in Nebis, they are not.

The island’s core mainly stores Earth Element, with varying amounts of Fire Element and a small amount of Water Element, whereas the Wind Element only affects the surface and the entire vast sky.

The balance of elements determines if a Sky Island is arid or moist, resource-abundant or barren.

Ah, how did I miss that?

Despite having been in Nebis for so many years, Li Ang hadn’t received systematic education here, often retaining an Earthling’s perspective.

Actually, most people here haven’t had a formal education; the average education level improved only after the guild connected the sky, with Thousand Tower City, whose main business is establishing schools, earning huge tuition fees from wealthy aristocrats annually.

Because of this lack of habit, Li Ang temporarily overlooked the reality that Sky Island volcanos shouldn’t cause such colossal disasters.

In Nebis, major destruction can’t occur without a Magical Disaster. Some result from dimensional friction’s magic eruptions, others from the influence of Super Demons.

So, had no one noticed that Lupus’s disaster was unusual in the past? Well, local descendants like Mort or some scholars might’ve noticed, but given its destruction and lack of adventurous value, it attracted no attention.

Having discovered nothing after circling around, Li Ang returned to the ship, urging the young girls to sleep.

The next morning, after breakfast, the exploration team was assembled.

Livi didn’t want to set foot on the volcanic surface, while Farina stayed on the ship to guard the Eternal Summer, with the Blazing Winged Dragon crouching on the deck, ready to assist if needed.

Li Ang, accompanied by the four little ones and Anna and Meimei, descended to the ground using the rope ladder.

The white-haired girl, wearing her new equipment, was a visually striking sight; her intricate, elf-styled light armor completely complemented her beauty and charisma, elevating her above her age constraints.
