Chapter 94: Chapter 94: Yan Huoshui’s Thoughts
In the past, Mu Tangfeng would buy new clothes every month without fail. But in his two years in prison, his hobbies had dwindled to the point where all he did for fun was dismantle robots. His clothes were all styles from two years ago, and even though many were still new and unopened, they were all outdated in his eyes.
He didn’t like them.
Hearing this, Shi Lan was left speechless. It seemed Mu Tangfeng had a point.
She was silent for a moment before her tone softened, taking on a comforting quality. "I’m sorry, I wasn’t thinking. Just send me links to whatever clothes you want, and I’ll buy them for you, okay?"
"You’re the one offering, you know. I never asked you to buy them for me."
Mu Tangfeng huffed lightly.
Shi Lan knew he had always been a contrary person and wasn’t going to bicker with him over something so trivial. She nodded. "Mhm, I’m the one who wants to buy them for Lord Mu."
"That’s more like it."
He mumbled under his breath, his mind already on a new overcoat he had seen on the Star Network a couple of days ago. ’It would definitely look good on me.’
Shi Lan breathed a sigh of relief. ’I really need to be more considerate in the future,’ she thought.
Her relationship with all of them was more or less the same. As the Prison Director, she had to treat everyone equally.
She left the detention area, and her chip suddenly vibrated. Tapping it open, she didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
Mu Tangfeng had picked out his clothes already? How long had it even been?
Not even three minutes, right? ’Does he not even need to think or hesitate when choosing clothes?’
She couldn’t help but suspect that he had picked them out a long time ago and was just waiting for this opportunity to mention them.
Curious, Shi Lan tapped on the link. One item was a dark red overcoat. The coat itself looked rather plain, but the edges of its two pockets were trimmed with red fur, and the cufflinks were bright rubies.
These two design elements were the perfect finishing touches, instantly giving the coat an air of luxury and expense.
There were three other items: a classic Onyx suit with a subtle dark pattern, a bright blue dress shirt, and a yellow sweater vest loungewear set.
It had to be said, Mu Tangfeng had excellent taste. He seemed to love vibrant colors, as every outfit had a unique splash of it.
Although she couldn’t quite picture him wearing them, she had a feeling they would all suit him very well.
Shi Lan glanced at the prices—they were all quite expensive, totaling nearly 50,000 Star Coins—but she paid without hesitation.
Shi Lan had earned quite a bit from the men in the prison, so she wasn’t going to fret over the cost, regardless of whether Mu Tangfeng paid her back.
She was practically a rich woman now, after all.
She silently checked her bank balance again. Recalling how dirt-poor she’d been just six months ago, she was instantly filled with satisfaction.
A short while later, Ye Ming sent his shopping list over too.
Given the precedent He Hanshi had set last time, Shi Lan was much more cautious as she looked at the shopping links he sent.
She clicked to the payment page and scanned the list. No underwear.
She wasn’t sure if she was more relieved or just weirded out. But as a woman, she couldn’t very well ask Ye Ming directly if he needed her to buy him underwear.
She could only probe indirectly. "Is there anything else you need?"
"Are you all set?"
Ye Ming replied quickly, "Mhm, I’m all set. Thanks for the trouble, Lanlan."
As he said this, he sent her a money transfer, which included the one million they had discussed with He Hanshi.
A bit lost for words, Shi Lan just replied, "Oh."
’Maybe Beastmen in this world don’t have to wear underwear?’
Her imagination ran wild. After all, Mu Tangfeng hadn’t asked her to buy him any, either.
But in reality, Mu Tangfeng already had some in his wardrobe, while Ye Ming was too embarrassed to ask a female to buy such things for him. Remembering the colorful fabric Lanlan had bought last time, he had already cut up the extra material and was taking matters into his own hands.
Shi Lan looked at the money Ye Ming had sent. It was the same amount as He Hanshi’s. She figured they must have discussed it beforehand. Knowing she couldn’t refuse, she accepted it without another word.
A short while later, Mu Tangfeng also took the initiative to transfer her the money for the clothes.
He was a bit of a troublemaker with his words, but his actions were irreproachable.
—
With Ye Ming’s treatment temporarily concluded, Shi Lan went to find Yan Huoshui on a different day.
She and Yan Huoshui had barely interacted recently. Their only contact came during the daily meal and flower deliveries. He was usually silent, a lone fox in his prison cell, and she never knew what he spent his days thinking about.
But every time she appeared at his cell door, he would walk over, his eyes crinkling with a smile, and call out her name, "Lanlan," in a low, magnetic, slightly husky voice.
It was the first time Shi Lan realized her own name could sound so alluring. Every time he said it, her ears felt like they were tingling and going soft.
She subconsciously rubbed them.
Today was the same. Shi Lan was there to discuss his treatment.
Yan Huoshui nodded, his sleek, lustrous red fox fur outlining a bewitching figure. He walked toward the meal delivery slot, his nine tails swaying gracefully behind him. "Alright. I’ll do whatever Lanlan arranges."
He spoke softly, his deep voice seeming to hold a hint of a flirtatious smile. His crimson fox eyes beamed at her, holding a gaze like an intoxicating, gentle wave.
It had to be said, there was a reason people used the term "fox spirit."
They truly possessed the ability to bewitch people’s hearts.
Shi Lan often found herself wavering between mesmerization and clear-headedness when faced with his gaze, but none of that could compare to his nine magnificent, fluffy tails that danced in the air.
’I wonder how blissful it would be to wrap those tails around my neck and enjoy being enveloped in all that fluff.’
A glint flashed in Yan Huoshui’s eyes as his tails swayed again. Seeing the clear, fanatical obsession in Shi Lan’s expression, a sly smile touched the corners of his lips.
’Lanlan really does love my tails.’
He had been thinking lately that at Lanlan’s current pace, their opportunities for quiet, private time with her like this were running out.
The outside world held far greater temptations and far more annoying males. Lanlan was so wonderful and exceptional that some other ’vixen’ might just throw themselves at her.
He had to seize this opportunity to win more of her affection while he was still in prison. That way, he would at least hold a more significant place in her heart after his release.
’This treatment is the perfect opportunity.’
The smile on Yan Huoshui’s lips grew more distinct before he slowly reined it in. Feigning confusion, he asked, "Lanlan, shall we start now?"
As he spoke, his tails continued to sway back and forth.
Under the room’s simulated natural light, one could clearly see the gaps between the drifting strands of fur on his tails, which looked as though they had been sprinkled with fragments of golden-red light.
Shi Lan couldn’t describe their beauty, but for a fluff fanatic, it was simply impossible to ignore.
She was so mesmerized it felt like an itch she couldn’t scratch. It took her a good while to snap out of her trance and slowly reply, "Okay."
But her eyes were still glued to his tails.
Yan Huoshui thought, ’We’re about to start the treatment; I shouldn’t be distracting Lanlan.’
So, he discreetly let his tails droop, no longer moving them about to bait her gaze.
Shi Lan stole several more glances before saying, still not fully satisfied, "Let’s start now. Give me your paw."
Yan Huoshui obediently offered his fluffy paw.
Shi Lan’s heart skipped a beat with excitement.
’Yes, yes, yes! I can’t touch the tails, but getting to touch a fox’s paw to satisfy the craving is just as good!’
With that thought, she quickly reached out her hand.
