Chapter 151: Chapter 151: The Two Beaten-Up Brothers
The chip had an anti-snooping feature that automatically identified and tracked the owner’s pupils. If the owner didn’t grant permission, others couldn’t see private messages.
The reason Mu Tangfeng had been able to spy on Fang Yuan’s video call last time was that he’d been in a secure room and hadn’t paid much attention, forgetting to activate the privacy shield when he made the call.
From Leo’s perspective, he had no idea who Ye Ming was chatting with. He just watched the smile on his face, looking amazed and muttering to himself, ’When did the Eldest Prince get so playful?’
’What is he even doing that he can smile like that?’
’Then again, a great day like winning the election is certainly something to smile about.’
Thinking of the day’s results, Leo immediately stopped dwelling on it and happily started reposting the news of the Eldest Prince’s election victory across all his accounts.
On Yaoxing, Shi Lan looked at Ye Ming’s reply. Seeing how happy he seemed, she closed the chip interface, relieved.
However, when she looked up and saw a room full of men lying around, her head started to ache again.
A couple of days ago, Jiang Xia and Mu Tangfeng had bought a pile of things on the Star Network. Mu Tangfeng had installed security systems and a smart air conditioner throughout her house. He also upgraded Xiao Ou, allowing it to control all the smart systems in the home.
This was indeed very convenient for Shi Lan. With a climate control system in place, she no longer needed to wear thick clothes all the time.
But after Jiang Xia saw a holographic game at Chen San’s, he went online and bought two units, saying he would play with her.
Not to be outdone, Mu Tangfeng also bought two.
However, Shi Lan hadn’t even used these holographic game machines yet; the males had already taken them over.
Besides Jiang Xia and Mu Tangfeng, the males included Aunt Gao’s other two sons, Brother Luo and Brother You. For some unknown reason, those two had also suddenly returned home.
Aunt Gao had initially wanted them all to play with Shi Lan, but Jiang Xia and Mu Tangfeng flatly refused. Instead, they grabbed the two brothers for a "spar." Fearing someone might get hurt for real, they decided to settle it inside the game machines.
They had been at it for an hour. Shi Lan, left to her own devices, had started playing on her chip, which was how she happened to see the news about Ye Ming.
She silently watched them, still engrossed in their game pods, and went back to scrolling through videos of Ye Ming.
In the video, Ye Ming was dressed in a sapphire-studded Combat Suit. His expression held a mix of youthful spirit and princely authority. The gun in his hand showed no mercy as it hit the enemy leader, killing him with a single fatal shot.
The opponent died at his hands without even having time to summon his Mecha.
Because of Ye Ming’s Talent Skill, which allowed him to control wind speed, his shots were faster than his target’s attempts to escape.
As for the remaining lackeys, he personally captured them one by one and threw them into an interstellar prison to await sentencing.
The footage didn’t show any of the female victims—only the damned male criminals, the justice-seeking Ye Ming, and his personal guard.
Shi Lan watched it several times, then was inexplicably reminded of He Hanshi’s combat videos and went to dig those up.
After she’d been watching for a while, there was some movement from the game pods.
She glanced over. Mu Tangfeng and Jiang Xia sat up, looking smug, while Brother Luo and Brother You beside them were silent. They had clearly taken quite a beating in the game.
Jiang Xia immediately jumped out of his holographic pod and ran excitedly to Shi Lan’s side, waiting for praise. "Lanlan, I had a boxing match with Brother Luo and Brother You! They went down in one hit."
Shi Lan looked to the other two for confirmation, but Brother Luo and Brother You only grew more silent. The outcome proved the disparity in their spiritual power was immense; otherwise, they wouldn’t have been so helpless. The one-sided brawl had only ended after the two of them, after taking a beating for a while, had finally spoken up unhappily.
Shi Lan understood. Under Jiang Xia’s big, hopeful eyes, she did her best to ignore the other two men and play along with praise. "I knew you were amazing! That’s just fantastic. You’re the total package."
Jiang Xia was so happy he was practically wagging his tail. He rubbed his cheek gleefully against Shi Lan’s palm, completely ignoring the other males in the room, determined to show off their intimacy and declare his sovereignty.
His gaze swept unconsciously toward Brother Luo and the others, the curve of his lips widening.
Brother Luo and Brother You felt utterly wronged. They’d shown up only to be inexplicably thrashed.
They weren’t particularly close with Shi Lan when they were kids—Shi Lan played more with their third brother—but their mom had dragged them over without taking no for an answer.
Facing a female they were supposed to protect, one they could even call their own sister, they couldn’t bring themselves to say no to Shi Lan.
But as a result, they had arrived, and before they could even discuss what to do, they got beaten up in a holographic game.
It’s worth noting that holographic games simulate reality, so the pain they felt was quite real. Although the intensity was lower than in real life, that didn’t help much when they spent an entire hour being pummeled in turns by those two.
Brother Luo couldn’t help but touch his face. There were no injuries, but he felt like it still ached a little.
Brother You also looked innocent and felt wronged.
Meanwhile, Mu Tangfeng was grinding his teeth, watching Shi Lan and Jiang Xia’s intimacy with a displeased look. He simply walked over, said nothing, and just stared quietly at Shi Lan. His eyes revealed a hint of dissatisfaction and gloom, making Shi Lan’s scalp tingle. Knowing his personality, she followed up by showering him with a ton of praise too.
Finally, both men were blissfully happy from her compliments. Only Brother Luo and Brother You were left to drag their faintly aching bodies out of the holographic game pods. "Xiao Lan," Brother Luo said gently, "since you’re alright, we’ll head home for now."
Shi Lan nodded, feeling a bit awkward. After all, Mu Tangfeng and Jiang Xia were her people, so to speak. The ones who did the beating got praised, while the ones who got beaten got nothing.
She said apologetically, "I’m sorry, Brother Luo, Brother You. Jiang Xia and Mu Tangfeng are just childish and wanted to test their skills against you. Thank you for your trouble."
’They’re grown men, but in Shi Lan’s eyes, they’re still childish...’
Hearing this, Brother Luo and Brother You had mixed feelings, but they didn’t take it to heart. As males, they had that much magnanimity. Besides, they were completely humbled by the other two’s Double S Spirit Power.
They shook their heads, a smile on their faces. "It’s nothing."
As he spoke, Brother Luo seemed to remember something and took a gift out of his Space Bag. "Mom told us you were back, so we brought you a little welcome-home present."
Hearing this, Brother You remembered as well and took out his gift too.
Shi Lan hadn’t expected them to be so formal. But since they were practically family and she was close with Aunt Gao, she didn’t forcefully refuse. "Thank you, Brother Luo, Brother You."
She accepted the gifts.
Like a cat that smelled fish, Jiang Xia immediately craned his neck to stare intently at the gifts in her hands.
Beside them, Mu Tangfeng watched thoughtfully, reminded of the gift he had yet to give.
Afraid of once again being seen as thorns in their sides, Brother Luo and Brother You didn’t linger and quickly left.
Not long after the two brothers left, Aunt Gao grumbled, "Didn’t I tell you to spend more time with Lanlan?"
Brother Luo gave a wry smile. "Mom, we wouldn’t dare. Those two males were guarding against us like we were romantic rivals."
"Of course! That’s exactly what I meant. After all, neither of them is reliable."
Aunt Gao nodded frankly. She had tested Mu Tangfeng later and found that not only was he even more of a young master than Jiang Xia, but he was also a complete novice in the kitchen.
The one good thing was that he cared a lot about Lanlan and was willing to spend money to renovate her house.
However, he still couldn’t take good care of Lanlan in daily life.
Aunt Gao looked at her two sons with an expression that entrusted them with a great responsibility. The two brothers hadn’t expected their mother to actually be thinking along those lines, and their scalps tingled.
Brother You rubbed his hands together nervously. "Mom, you can’t just say things like that! Our lives would be in danger."
Brother Luo nodded in agreement. "Mom, you probably don’t know this, but both of those males have Double S Spirit Power. With our B rank, we’re not even qualified to serve them tea."
Hearing this, Aunt Gao was dumbfounded. "They’re... that powerful?"
The two brothers nodded vigorously.
