Chapter 118: Chapter 118: Had a Dream
Mu Tangfeng had always thought that the Spiritual Connection was no different from Basic Healing.
If he had to name a difference, it was that Basic Healing happened through the prison bars, unlike the Spiritual Connection, which allowed him to be this close to Lanlan.
When Shi Lan worked, she had a unique charm. She naturally emanated a calming and serene aura, like the gentle hands of Mother Earth, easily soothing one’s inner turmoil.
At first, Mu Tangfeng’s mind was fixed on his hand, but his gaze gradually fell upon Shi Lan’s face and he couldn’t look away.
He secretly compared their appearances. Lanlan’s skin seemed even fairer than his. Her eyelashes were more curled than his, and as she kept her eyes closed, they would occasionally tremble, like beautiful butterflies had come to rest there.
Her lips weren’t as red as his, but their soft, tender pink looked very healthy. They were full, and seemed... very biteable.
Mu Tangfeng stared at her lips in a daze. Just then, a subtle current seemed to flash through his body, and a tingling numbness, like an electric shock, shot through him. A low grunt escaped his throat uncontrollably, and the hand resting on Shi Lan’s leg trembled.
’Huh? How strange. Is... is this the Spiritual Connection...?’
His pupils constricted to pinpricks, his thoughts scattering.
When Shi Lan opened her eyes, she was startled.
At some point, Mu Tangfeng had actually transformed into his beast form. The hand on her lap had become his wing.
And now, his head was resting lightly against her crossed legs, his eyes shut tight.
Shi Lan thought something had happened to him and gently nudged his head. "Lord Mu, Lord Mu, wake up?"
Mu Tangfeng wasn’t asleep at all. He was just closing his eyes, trying to process the strange sensations in his body.
Under the circumstances, he subconsciously sought the source of his reassurance, and his head had unconsciously snuggled against Shi Lan’s leg.
If his wing hadn’t already been taking up space on her lap, and if he wasn’t worried about bothering her, he might have just plopped his head there instead.
Mu Tangfeng opened his black eyes. His pupils were tiny pinpricks in the center of his irises. After seeing Shi Lan, his unfocused gaze slowly sharpened. His voice was slightly hoarse. "I’m fine. I just got a little sleepy and dozed off by accident."
He told a small lie, not wanting Shi Lan to know he was so weak that he couldn’t even handle a Spiritual Connection.
Shi Lan let out a sigh of relief. She had actually thought she’d healed him into unconsciousness.
"As long as you’re okay."
She said happily, then asked, "Can you check what your collapse value is now?"
Although Mu Tangfeng felt languid and weak in his limbs, he still had to put on a strong front for Shi Lan, so he moved his wing to run the check.
The data quickly appeared. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
"It’s 47%."
His voice was involuntarily tinged with joy, and his dark, deep eyes shone as he looked at her.
Shi Lan smiled along with him. "That’s great."
"I’ll be going then."
She felt awkward staying on someone else’s bed for too long. Hearing this, a hint of disappointment crept into Mu Tangfeng’s voice.
"Oh, okay."
As he spoke, he watched Shi Lan quickly get off the bed, unable to resist craning his head to watch her intently.
After Shi Lan put on her shoes, she turned her head and saw a pair of big, dark eyes fixed on her. When he saw that she had noticed, he blinked guiltily.
After this period of recovery, his feathers had grown back even more beautiful than before—bright and smooth, with each filament flowing gracefully. A layer of down near the top of his beak, almost like cotton, seemed to flutter from the breeze of his blinking eyelids.
He looked incredibly soft and comfortable, with an indescribable sort of docile cuteness.
For some reason, Shi Lan was reminded of the little bird in his spirit sea. Perhaps because its spiritual power collapse value had always been relatively stable, it had more energy and could still hop around inside the Poison Cocoon. But unfortunately, the space was too confined; its wings had no room to stretch.
And wasn’t Mu Tangfeng the same?
Although the prison cell was large, it wasn’t big enough for him to spread his wings for a full circle. He, too, was trapped in a giant cage.
A wave of sympathy washed over her. She couldn’t help but reach out and gently stroke his head, comforting him, "You’ll be able to leave the prison soon."
Mu Tangfeng’s head subconsciously nuzzled back against her hand. He then stopped himself, blushing secretly at his own shameful behavior, and nodded. "Mm, thank you, Lanlan."
Shi Lan shook her head. "No need to thank me."
...
After Shi Lan left, Jiang Xia asked Mu Tangfeng, "What did you think of the Spiritual Connection?"
Mu Tangfeng had been holding back the entire time so Jiang Xia wouldn’t laugh at him. Only at the very beginning had he let his guard down and made a sound.
Now, he scoffed, "What about it? It’s no different from Basic Healing."
"Is that so?"
Jiang Xia seemed to doubt himself. He combed his hair with the comb Shi Lan had given him and replied, "Well, I thought it was way more comfortable than Basic Healing."
Thinking about the strange sensations from that time, his face grew inexplicably warm again.
Mu Tangfeng said nothing, but inwardly, he agreed.
’It really was. It was as if Shi Lan’s gentle touch had passed over his entire body.’
Perhaps because of this association, Mu Tangfeng had an uncontrollable, sensual dream that night.
In the dream, his skin was pressed against Shi Lan’s, the warm contact feeling just like when his hand had rested on her thigh today.
It was so soft, so comfortable, their bodies exchanging warmth.
When he woke up and noticed the... abnormality... in his bed, he buried his head between his pillows in shame and indignation.
Although Mu Tangfeng had never been with a female, he wasn’t ignorant. Interstellar people often had many partners and were focused on producing offspring, so they could be described as very open about such matters.
But Mu Tangfeng had always disdained such things, and he especially hated seeing Beastmen controlled by their desires. It made him feel like they were nothing more than livestock. That was why he had always remained calm during his previous susceptible periods.
And now, something like this had actually happened...
The crucial thing was, he hadn’t done anything! It was just a dream where he and Shi Lan were simply close to each other...
’So embarrassing!’
Following He Hanshi’s clothes-washing incident, Shi Lan now saw Mu Tangfeng coming downstairs with his blanket.
She thought he was going to wash it, but after he saw her, he just carried the blanket back upstairs.
Shi Lan blinked in confusion, though she didn’t think it was because Mu Tangfeng was disgusted that she had been on his bed yesterday.
After all, if he really minded, his personality was such that he wouldn’t have chosen that spot yesterday.
She didn’t ask any questions. Instead, she addressed everyone, "Although your spiritual power collapse values have all reached the Middle Level, they’re still quite close to the High Level. Therefore, I don’t think you should be in a hurry to leave the prison just yet."
"At my current healing speed, for the Middle Level, I think I can get all of you down to the low-level within a month and a half at most. That would be much safer."
"What do you all think?"
She was consulting with them. After all, once they actually left the prison, it wouldn’t be as convenient for her to treat them like this.
She had no intention of revealing that she could treat Beastmen with High-level Spiritual Power collapse.
"Okay."
He Hanshi’s voice was heard, but he was nowhere to be seen. Still, he was the first to respond.
The rest of them had no objections either.
In truth, even if Shi Lan hadn’t said anything, they hadn’t planned on leaving so soon anyway.
’At the very least, we need to make sure Shi Lan is settled and safe before we go.’
Shi Lan nodded. Since He Hanshi was an observation subject and his one-month period wasn’t over, she simply turned back to Mu Tangfeng. "Lord Mu, should we continue your treatment now? Get you to the low-level sooner?"
Mu Tangfeng was so startled he nearly jumped. He immediately shook his head. "No, treat someone else first."
