Chapter 110: Chapter 110: About the Torn Towel
He Hanshi turned to look at her. Shi Lan had already changed into her usual clothes.
It seemed Black Star had gotten colder recently, though, so she was wearing a long-sleeved shirt.
He Hanshi’s gaze fell on her hair. She seemed to have forgotten about it.
Shi Lan was still thinking about her towel. As for the underwear in the bathroom, she had slowly managed to calm down about that.
But the towel... she couldn’t figure out why He Hanshi had torn it.
Just as she was pondering this, He Hanshi’s fingers suddenly landed gently on the crown of her head, straightening her messy hair.
Shi Lan’s eyelashes trembled, and she looked at him, puzzled.
He Hanshi’s fingers gently combed through her hair. His large, well-defined hand moved through her soft strands, and he quickly pulled it back. Noticing the strange look in Shi Lan’s eyes, he explained, "Lanlan’s hair was a little messy just now. It’s better now."
Shi Lan remembered that she hadn’t actually combed her hair. She thanked him and followed He Hanshi toward the prison, but she still felt a little uncomfortable.
’How can He Hanshi be so casual about combing my hair?’
She gently pushed a stray lock of hair from her forehead and, walking beside him, stole several glances at him.
However, her mind had been a jumble of miscellaneous thoughts, but when she caught a glimpse of his side profile, it instantly quieted.
He was, after all, a handsome man with superior bone structure. Even looking up at him from a low angle, she couldn’t see a double chin. In fact, his features seemed even more defined, and the play of light and shadow from outside only served to accentuate his face.
After admiring him in secret for a moment, she said, "Thank you for taking care of me."
Even though she had been unconscious with a fever, she had been vaguely aware of someone giving her water.
And besides herself, He Hanshi was the only other living person outside on Black Star who could have done it.
He Hanshi pressed his lips together slightly. "There’s no need to thank me. Lanlan has been taking care of us in the prison all this time."
"It’s not the same."
Shi Lan retorted in a low voice, "I’m getting paid for that, after all."
He Hanshi’s ears twitched, and an imperceptible smile touched his lips. He didn’t call her out on her last comment, just thought to himself that it was indeed a little different.
’Lanlan might see it as taking care of us as friends or as part of her job, but I see her as my future wife.’
The tips of He Hanshi’s ears, hidden beneath his silver hair, grew a little hot. Shi Lan, however, didn’t press the matter further.
The two of them soon arrived back at the prison, and He Hanshi returned the access pass to her.
Shi Lan didn’t know such a thing existed. After He Hanshi explained it to her, she nodded in understanding.
"Have the other gentlemen eaten?"
Shi Lan was still running a fever, and today’s meals had been prepared by the robotic programming. None of the prisoners had much of an appetite, so they had barely eaten anything.
However, they knew Shi Lan’s personality. If they said they "hadn’t eaten," she would definitely insist on cooking for them again.
Her fever had just broken, and they couldn’t bear to see her tire herself out again, so they had all unanimously replied, ’We’ve eaten.’
He Hanshi had also grabbed a quick bite in the kitchen earlier, so he nodded along.
Shi Lan relaxed. As expected, He Hanshi was reliable.
She watched him re-enter the prison and said, "Thanks for everything."
Her "thanks" was for helping deliver the meals and also for taking care of her.
He Hanshi’s lips curved. "You’re welcome."
Just as Shi Lan finished talking with He Hanshi, the other prisoners, who could no longer hold back, started asking about her condition one after another.
Shi Lan replied to each of them, "Thank you for your concern. I’m all better now."
As she was speaking, she suddenly felt a vibration from her chip and saw that a delivery had arrived for her. Seeing that there was nothing urgent at the prison, she left.
After Shi Lan left, He Hanshi looked at the parts his doppelganger had disassembled and scattered across the floor, a trace of appreciation in his eyes.
However, he wasn’t at full strength right now. The doppelganger could only be maintained for two hours and had long since disappeared.
If the degradation of his spiritual power could be reduced to below a low-level, his doppelganger could be maintained for over three hours.
Looking at the pile of parts, he suddenly thought of something and asked, "Mu Tangfeng, last time you rescued Lanlan on Black Star, how did you get past the robots outside when you came back?"
Mu Tangfeng let out a confused "Huh?"
He recalled what had happened. At the time, he had been worried about Shi Lan’s condition, and his Invisibility was about to expire, so he had just used Lanlan’s fingerprint to get in through the main gate.
He had been in such a panic at the time that he hadn’t even thought about the patrol robots on Black Star.
Now that he thought back on it carefully, he realized something was indeed off.
Black Star’s patrol robots use the degradation of High-level Spiritual Power as their trigger to attack. It seemed he did see the robots preparing to make a move, but perhaps because they were mindful of the female in his arms, their movements were very slow.
And then, before he knew it, he had already rushed into the prison grounds.
He told He Hanshi about this. He Hanshi nodded. "It seems their attacks are based on a specific area. If you enter the prison’s detention zone, they immediately stand down."
"Moreover, their programming isn’t based solely on attacking. They must still retain the rules and regulations of the Female Protection Law."
The principles of the Female Protection Law are a baseline standard for all robots. While such rules can’t always be enforced on humans, they are absolute for robots.
He Hanshi hadn’t expected the robots here to have it. He thought they were programmed only to attack. frёeωebɳovel.com
But the people who originally built this prison probably never expected that a female Prison Director would one day be assigned here.
The thought of Shi Lan brought an involuntary smile to his lips. Then he remembered the towel. His thoughts paused for a moment. He transferred five hundred Star Coins to her and sent a message:
Lanlan, when you had a fever today, I used your towel to give you a cold compress. I then used part of it to simply wipe down your hands and feet.
I am very sorry for damaging your things. Please accept this money as my apology.
Shi Lan was currently in her room taking a shower. The fever had made her sweat, and while her limbs felt relatively clean, her torso felt sticky and uncomfortable.
She hadn’t understood why at first, but after seeing the message from He Hanshi, she understood everything in an instant.
’Oh god, how embarrassing.’
In the bathroom, Shi Lan turned as red as a shrimp. It took her a while to brainwash herself: ’It was just my hands and feet. It’s no big deal.’
After all, she’d worn much less when she went to the beach before.
With that thought, Shi Lan’s state of mind returned to normal. However, the person who had wiped her down was He Hanshi. Thinking of his face, her heart inexplicably skipped a few beats.
’I’ve probably been single for too long. Looking at a face like He Hanshi’s, I actually feel the urge to fall in love.’
Of course, Shi Lan was still rational. She patted her cheeks and thought, ’Let’s just wait a little longer. We can talk about it after they get out of prison.’
In the end, Shi Lan didn’t accept He Hanshi’s money. He had been taking care of her for so long, and a single towel wasn’t expensive. She didn’t hold it against him at all.
She had only been confused about why the towel was ruined. Now that she knew the reason, there was no way she could blame He Hanshi.
When He Hanshi saw the Star Coins had been returned, he didn’t insist.
However, the smile on his lips deepened slightly.
’With this give and take, our bond will only grow stronger.’
