Chapter 96: The letters

Amera’s POV

"Ms., a letter has arrived for you," a maid announced as she approached the poolside and stood behind me.

"A letter?"

"Yes," she answered, extending it to me.

"Can you drop it in my room? I’ll check it out once I leave the pool."

"Understood." The maid left.

I grabbed my cocktail and took a sip. "The brothers sent you a letter? That’s new," Ruby commented from the other side of the pool.

"I don’t know who sent it; I’ll check once we finish here."

"School resumes in two weeks," Ruby sighed. "We’ll be in our second year."

"Yeah, then we’ll have two years left."

"But I don’t want to return to school."

"Haven’t you had enough rest?" I asked, rolling my eyes. Staying at home every day is boring. The brothers aren’t here to make life chaotic either. School will help ease most of my boredom.

"I like being at home, being able to shop every day. And by the way, who did you send those gifts to? Did you send them to your brother?"

"Gifts?"

"Those shirts and men’s shoes you bought when we went to the live sale event."

"Oh, right. Those."

I didn’t send them to my brothers.

"I haven’t sent them out yet."

"What are you waiting for? It’s been a while already. Do you plan to surprise them when they return?"

"They’re returning next week. They’ll spend two weeks at home; maybe I can give them the gifts then."

"Do you plan to visit your parents?"

"I can, can’t I?"

"Yeah, you definitely can." She reached for her phone, opened it, and began to scroll. "Aren’t you curious about Cole? You haven’t spoken of him since the last time."

"I know he’s fine. I know he’s doing well."

"How are you so sure about that?"

"If he wasn’t, you’d have said something. I know."

She looked up from her phone and rolled her eyes. "Well, he went back to work at that mall. He took his siblings with him."

I guess he has no plans for schooling.

"Alright," I murmured.

After spending time at the pool, we dried off; Ruby dressed up and left while I returned to my room. I didn’t notice the letter that was sitting on my reading table.

I napped, woke up, ate, and returned to bed. I woke up the next day and still didn’t touch the letter. Same on the third day. On the fourth day, an unexpected visitor brought my attention to the letter.

"Ms.," Nanny Samantha came into my room.

"Yes?" I answered, swinging my legs in the air.

"Ms.," she called again.

"Yes?"

"You have a visitor by the name Maria. She’s waiting in the living room."

"A visitor by the name of Maria?" I repeated, still swinging my legs.

"Yes, she came with a little girl. Should I bring her to the room or...?"

"No, I’ll see her; just do the usual."

"Alright," she left. I exercised a little more before going into the bathroom to wash the sweat from my face and neck.

Maria. I’ve heard that name before. Maria. Where did I hear the name?

After washing, I left my room and began to descend the stairs. I was almost at the bottom when it suddenly hit me.

Parker’s mother.

Yes. She’s Parker’s mother.

Why is she here?

"Uh, excuse me," I called to the maid passing by.

"Yes, Ms.," she came to me.

"I thought I had a visitor."

"Yes, she’s now waiting in the visitor’s room," she replied.

Oh, was she not in the sitting room? Why did Nanny Samantha take her there?

I wonder why she’s here, though. Is she here to talk to me about Parker? I stopped walking for a moment, cleared my throat, and readjusted my dress before making my way to the guest room.

I saw little Aria playing with a fish toy.

A smile came to my face.

"Good morning, Maria. Hello, Aria," I greeted, walking into the room.

Little Aria stopped playing and looked at me.

"Morning, dear, you seem more relaxed than I am," Maria sighed.

"Huh?"

"Have you heard from Parker?"

"Parker? I... No, is everything okay?" I asked, getting worried as I examined her expression. fгeewebnovёl.com

"No," she said, taking a seat. "I came here hoping that you have some info, unlike me."

"I don’t understand."

"Have you heard from any of the brothers?"

"No, not in the last few days. I spoke to Bryce and Cooper on Sunday."

"It seems they’re all with him. That’s what it means. I wonder what he’s doing to them this time," she exhaled.

"I... I don’t understand," I said, still confused.

"The brothers are with the General. Have you tried reaching them? I have, but their phones are turned off."

"I haven’t. Did you say they are with the General?"

"That’s what I said," she nodded.

"Oh, I..." I rose to my feet. "I left my phone upstairs; I’ll try to reach them."

"Alright, I’ll be here."

I went upstairs and reached for my phone. I saw Cooper’s number and dialed it, but it didn’t connect. I tried again, then tried the others—Gavin, Bryce, Parker. None of their lines went through. But why are their phones off? All at the same time. This is a first. I understand that they’re with the General, but why are their phones off?

This is confusing. I hope they’re alright.

Anyway, I should get back to Maria. She seems to know more about this. I need to ask her some questions.

I left the room and was on my way downstairs when I suddenly recalled the letter.

The letter! I still haven’t read it. It might be from the brothers.

I rushed back to my room, went to my reading table, and saw it. But once I picked it up, I noticed a different envelope underneath it.

Two? There are two envelopes. The envelopes lack sender names, but both have my name—Amera.

I opened the first one, expecting to see a real letter, but what I saw were photos.

About five photos. Looking at them, I noticed someone who looked like Dad on a bed, and a lady with long black hair was on top of him.

What is this? I kept the first photo aside and went to the next; in the second picture, the lady has her mouth on his neck, kissing him.

I dropped the second and moved to the third; the lady is undressing him.

In the fourth one, the lady has her body attached to his; she appears to be riding him.

I threw the photo on the floor as panic surged through me. What is this? What does this mean?

I slowly looked at the last photo; it shows my dad sleeping, the lady still on top of him, a smile on her face.

I dropped the photo on the table as I struggled to make sense of this. Who is this lady? Why is she with Dad? What about Mom?

My eyes moved to the photo I threw on the ground, and that was when I noticed the bold writing on the back.

I picked up the photo and read the writing: "Your dad had a great time with me."

I picked up the fifth photo and turned it over; I saw another message: "I made him cum about six times tonight; as you can see, he is exhausted. Do not tell mommy, hehe."

"Courtesy, your future stepmom."

I looked through the other photos but didn’t find any more writing.

What is this supposed to mean? Is this really Dad? If yes, why is Dad with another woman?

My eyes moved to the second letter, and I picked it up. I unsealed the envelope and saw an actual letter inside.

As I opened it, my eyes went to the last part, where I saw that Brown was listed as the sender.

Brown? That’s Bryce’s middle name.

The letter had "Just stay calm" written on it.

That was all. He wants me to be calm? Why? I’m confused. This is all confusing.

Wait, I need to call Dad. I don’t think I can stay calm.

I went through my contact list and saw his number; I dialed it, and he answered on the fourth ring.

"Oh, my daughter," he called, his voice shaky.

"Dad," I said. "Are you okay?"

"Yes. Why not? Do you want to speak to your mother? She’s right here."

"No, I have some questions for you."

"Alright."

"Have you been to a hotel lately? Have you met up with a woman who isn’t Mom? I need you to tell me the truth," I said.

"I... Another woman?" I heard him cough from the other end.

"Dad, did you get my question? Have you been with any woman? Someone with long dark hair, a long face, and a pointed nose," I described the lady.

"I... I..." He went silent again. His silence made me panic. Why isn’t he denying it? Why is he stammering and not denying it?

Please don’t tell me Dad has cheated on my mom. He’s not the type. What went wrong?

"Dad! Are you still there?" I asked, breathing heavily.

"Um... Yes, your mom..."

"I don’t wish to speak to Mom; I just want to know if you’ve been with other women," I demanded, getting impatient now.

I heard movement from the other end; Mom’s voice came in.

"Did you get those pictures too?" She sighed. "I thought you’d be the exception."

"What? What do you mean?"

"Those pictures are real. Come home. Your brothers are home too."

"They’re real? My brothers are home? When did they return?"

"Just come home and we’ll all talk." The line went dead.

Okay... This is getting out of hand. Did this lady send the pictures to all members of my family? Is that it?

Well, there’s only one way to find out. I’ll dress up and go home.

I must get to the bottom of this. I want to know who the woman in the photo is. I also want to know if Dad really cheated on Mom.
