Chapter 94: Breaking her

Gavin’s POV

"Is this everything?" I asked after reviewing the files.

"Yes, sir," my assistant answered, then checked his wrist. "It’s 9:07 a.m., sir. I think you should get going," he said, standing to his feet.

My eyes moved to my wrist. I dropped the files on my table and stood up.

"I’ll take care of the rest."

"Alright." I grabbed my car keys, and he followed me to the parking lot. He waited until I was out of the parking lot before disappearing.

I drove through the familiar, lonely path, passing many abandoned buildings until I arrived at a particular one—a much darker, taller building. I stopped by the corner, parking in a free spot. Looking around, I saw two other cars.

Bryce and Cooper. Where the fuck is Parker? At the entrance of the building, I saw a heavyset bodyguard standing there with the meanest expression on his face.

"Your phone," he requested. I pulled it out of my pocket. I tried to hand it to him but had a second thought. I opened the phone and sent a text to Parker:

"Where are you?"

I waited until it was 9:50 a.m. but didn’t get a response. He will be late.

Exhaling, I turned the phone off and gave it to the guard. He allowed me entrance, and I walked into the building. The elevator on the first floor took me to the third; I came out and found the others there.

Bryce and Cooper. Cooper was playing with a cigarette; his hair and eyes looked disorganized. Bryce’s eyes were on his tablet.

He came in with his tablet. Of course. Trust Bryce to never obey all of the General’s rules.

"Parker?" Cooper asked once he noticed me.

I shook my head. "Couldn’t reach him."

Bryce briefly looked at me but didn’t say a word. At 10:00 a.m., the double doors gave way, revealing the General’s bedroom.

A slim, corporately dressed lady walked out, a smile playing at her lips. "You can go in now," she told us before walking away.

Without a word, we went into the bedroom to see a very familiar scene playing out before us.

The General was standing close to his window, pants down, with a lady between his legs, pleasuring him.

I rolled my eyes and looked away. "Tell us why you called us." Bryce dropped his tablet. "I’m quite busy."

The General didn’t respond to Bryce and kept shaking his head as the lady, whoever she was, sucked him clean.

After his first orgasm, he started thrusting into the lady’s mouth until he had his second release. Afterward, he dropped onto his bed; the lady cleaned her mouth, grabbed a briefcase by the corner of the room, and, without a word, stepped out.

The double doors closed.

Bryce was seething. Cooper appeared very uncomfortable. And I, well, I didn’t really give a fuck. I’m here for a different reason anyway; I’m just waiting for the right time to throw my cards out.

"So, where is the other one? Has he decided to be a good boy for Mama?" The General turned to face us, his face looking more wrinkled than I remembered. I wish he could just die already. It would save us a lot of stress.

"No one is saying anything. You don’t know where your brother is?" The General settled his gaze on Cooper.

"I’m sure you guys were four. Or were you three? Did I have three grownups or four?" He touched his jaw as he pretended to think. But Cooper remained quiet.

Just then, the double doors opened and Parker came in. The guard at the front door entered with him.

"Oh, there he is; I guess he gave up on being a good boy," the General relaxed onto the bed. "So tell us the reason for your lateness," he demanded.

"I woke up late," Parker responded.

"Late? You mean to tell me that you overslept? Why? Were you too busy babysitting your cute little sister that you forgot the call time?"

"This has nothing to do with her," Parker groaned, and the guard stepped closer. But the General lifted his hand, signaling him to back down.

"I want to hear his full reason. Your mother didn’t let you? She went on about how I damaged you; perhaps she also preached the truth to you? Challenged you and reminded you of how you used to be a decent fellow?"

"This has nothing to do with them. I came late because I overslept. You can do whatever you want," Parker growled.

"You heard him." The General looked at his guard, and that was all it took for him to do what he did next.

The guard stepped before Parker, fisted his hand, and punched him in the gut. Parker saw it coming, so he didn’t flinch and stood his ground.

The second punch had him staggering a bit, and the third took him down.

Still as strong. Hmm.

"Alright, you can leave us now," the General said to the guard. The man slightly bowed to the General before stepping out of the room, closing the double doors behind him.

"So, let’s begin," the General said, standing to his feet and adjusting his pants. He walked to the drawer close to his bed and pulled out a file.

He opened the file and brought out its contents: there were documents, pictures, and USB drives.

He took the pictures and threw them on the floor for all to see.

Cooper went down and picked them up; he started looking through the pictures until he came across a particular one that caused him to freeze.

Noticing this, I snatched the picture from him and looked at it; seeing the picture, my heart jumped and I swallowed.

"Having trouble controlling your mate? Do you still need a lesson on how to get things done right?" He growled.

Bryce snatched the photo and also looked at it. Seeing what it was, he questioned, "Were you stalking her?"

"She’s so out of control. I’ll have to come in if you don’t get things done right," the General snapped.

"You have no right to stalk her; she’s not your responsibility," Bryce groaned, clearly pissed. Yeah, I am also pissed.

The photo was of Cole kissing Amera. Shit.

Cooper kept looking through the other pictures, which were images of familiar faces: our family, my younger siblings, Parker’s sibling and mother, and Bryce and Cooper’s mother.

He is trying to tell us that he has his eyes on us. This is him trying to manipulate and threaten us. He always threatens us before carrying out an act. What sort of trouble is he planning to cause now?

"It seems like your so-called mate is more lost than my whores; shouldn’t I be allowed to intervene?" The General sat on his bed but kept his gaze on Bryce. Unlike Bryce’s angry ones, his expression was calm and collected.

"Are you planning to add her to the list? Is that what this is?" Parker asked, standing to his feet.

The General moved his gaze to him. "Why? Am I not allowed to do that? It seems like she needs a bit of a lesson."

"The only person who needs a lesson is you. You need to learn how to control yourself," I sighed.

He laughed, a small, silent laugh.

"I got the exact reaction I expected from you. I like that. She played her part well."

"Leave her out of this, will you?" Cooper asked. "Threatening us with our family is already enough. Leave her alone."

"Okay, should I move to her family members then? I could if you want. I heard her father visited a brothel last week and had a nice time with some pretty whore. I’m thinking of sending her a file containing evidence of her father’s adultery. Oh, never mind, I already sent it, and it should be arriving at the house by..." He moved his gaze to the wall clock. freewebnσvel.cøm

"The file should be in her hands right now; she should be looking through it." Then he sighed, "I wonder what her expression will be when she finds out that her lovely father lost himself and slept with a lady who is not her mother."

"Will she reveal the truth to her mother? Will she bury the secret and pretend it never happened?" He let out another deep breath. "I am very curious."

"I want to know how smart this mate of yours is."

Cooper facepalmed, and Bryce moved his gaze to the other side of the room, looking defeated. Yes. Defeated. This man has a way of doing the most.

He does things you never expect he’d do. He can stoop so low—lower than an ant. He doesn’t care, as long as his actions inflict pain on others. As long as his actions break others. He is ready to go to any extent.

Yes, that is exactly what he intends to do. He is trying to break her. He is trying to break Amera apart.

"Did you set this pretty whore up to seduce her father? I have an idea you did," Parker mumbled after a long silence.

"Does it matter? What matters is that he fell into temptation. He gave in. And I’m sure right now, he is at home, acting all innocent, all lovey-dovey with his ignorant wife." He paused and laughed.

"These folks all pretend to be saints; they all pretend to be good until you offer them some penny, and then you’ll see the devil emerge out of them."

"No one is good. I’ve always taught you this. No one is innocent in this world. The only thing they do is pretend, but our goal is to make sure their evil side reveals itself."

"I want y’all to watch carefully. Watch how your little innocent mate hides all evidence of her father’s adultery, convinces herself it’s for the best, covers things up, and fakes a smile to her mother."

"Why? Because she wouldn’t want her lovely family to break apart. Because she is selfish and will place her happiness above her mother’s."

"Just watch. Then learn."
