Chapter 85: The solution
"Don’t worry, I’ll do everything; you just have to see the results," he smirked.
"Okay?" I exchanged glances with Ruby before setting my gaze on him again.
"With your permission, I’ll meet her right away."
"You intend to meet her?"
"Is the situation urgent for you?" One of his brows went up as he looked at me.
"Yes, it is. I don’t want my friend’s reputation ruined. I don’t want people to continue speaking badly about her," I stated.
"Exactly, it’s an urgent matter, so it’d be better if I solved it personally."
"Okay, great."
"The faster I see her, the better. What do you think?"
"I agree with you." I moved my gaze to Gavin and saw that he was also in agreement.
"Alright, but it won’t be for free," he informed me.
"What?"
"It won’t be for free," he repeated.
I frowned. "What do you want?"
"The thing I spoke to you about a few hours ago. Have you considered it? If you haven’t, can you consider it?" He asked.
"I... Of course not, I haven’t considered it," I said, squeezing my face to show him how displeased I was.
"Can you consider it?" He asked, but I stayed quiet.
"I know it’s difficult for you, but I want you to think about it. I’ve been in a bad mood lately; my workers can’t stand near me, and my wolf is restless, and so am I. You’re the only solution we need. Forgive us and give us another chance. Twice a week, I won’t ask for more," he pleaded.
What a jerk! I should have known that he wasn’t going to help me for free. This is annoying, but I can’t allow my friend’s face to be all over the Internet for something she had no knowledge of.
Ruby slowly reached out and touched me. "You don’t have to do it if you don’t want to," she whispered. "I’m sure it’ll slowly die down. With time," she whispered.
Or it might get worse, and everyone who knows her will see those pictures and articles. They’ll mock and call her different names. I don’t want that.
"Cooper," I called, moving my gaze to him.
"Yes?" He answered.
"Once. Once a week... That’s it," I stated.
"Alright, accepted, thank you." He leaned closer and kissed me close to my lips before rising to his feet.
"Alright, you’ve got it; I’ll leave now," he said to Gavin before excusing himself.
Gavin went after him; he locked the door and returned to us.
"Am I also allowed to see you?" He asked.
"No," I frowned.
"But I want to."
Oh please. I don’t want this.
"I’m not trying to bargain with you, but I’d like you to think about it. We can meet up after one or two weeks. Maybe we’ll meet and have lunch or dinner together. I won’t annoy you or frustrate you; I’ll behave. I promise," he said.
"Are you sure?"
"Yes."
"Okay," I accepted. Gavin hardly troubles me, so I don’t have a problem seeing him. The others are always in my business. I’m not saying he’s not always in my business; he is, but he keeps to himself more than the others.
"Alright," he smiled. "I’ll get you a cold juice. Do you plan to stay here?" He asked.
"Yes, we’ll stay here until we get feedback from Cooper," Ruby chimed in. freewebnσvel.cѳm
"I’ll be back; give me a minute." He left his suite and returned with two drinks; he kept them on the table.
"If you need something, you can ring the bell, and someone will attend to you," he informed me.
"Alright, thank you."
"I’m leaving, bye." He flashed me a smile as he left the house.
After he disappeared, Ruby exhaled deeply. "I haven’t gotten used to being around your mates; they’re terrifying," she groaned.
"I saw how quiet you were," I commented.
"How do you handle them? You’re something else. My body turns cold and goosebumps fill my skin whenever I get close to any of them. Anyway, can I get some sleep? I’m starting to feel very sleepy." She lay on the sofa.
"You should sleep in one of the rooms; I’m sure he has enough rooms here." I stood up and walked around the house; I saw the kitchen and saw two rooms that seemed like the guest room.
Ruby can sleep in one of these rooms.
"Ruby," I went to her and tapped her.
"Yes?"
"Get up; there are empty rooms here. Do not sleep on the sofa."
"I’m okay here; I don’t want to ruin your mate’s house."
"Shut up and get up." I dragged her off the sofa and took her to the room. She lay down, and I covered her with the duvet.
"Sleep tight; everything will return to normal when you wake up," I assured her.
"Thank you," she murmured, closing her eyes to sleep.
I switched off the light and left her room. How many rooms are on his floor? After taking a tour around the house, I found two rooms downstairs and two upstairs; the master bedroom made it three.
Opening the master bedroom, I went in and examined the room; I sat on the bed and also felt its softness. So this is where he has been living since he left the house.
Is Cooper also staying in a penthouse? What about Bryce? And Parker? Are they all living in good houses like this one?
I’m sure they are. They like luxury. I wish to lie down and get some sleep, but my phone isn’t with me. My purse is downstairs; I need to get it.
I left the room and went downstairs. I grabbed my purse and returned to Gavin’s room. I took off my shoes and lay down on the bed. I don’t know how long I slept, but I woke up at the sound of my phone.
A text from Cooper. I rubbed my hands over my sleepy face and opened the text.
"Done," it said.
Done? Has Ruby’s innocence been proven? I should go online. I went online and searched for the hot trending topics. I saw the news about Simon, and I saw new articles.
I saw a video of a woman named Lupita Lura Adams. She is Simon’s fiancée, and she’s the only daughter of a popular billionaire.
The video was posted a few minutes ago. Ruby needs to see this. I rushed out of the room and went to Ruby’s room.
I turned on the light and woke her up.
"Ruby, wake up; you need to see this."
"Huh," she opened her eyes and sat up. I sat beside her and clicked on the video.
"Oh, she’s the one who dragged my hair and tore my dress." Ruby immediately recognized her.
"Yes, she made this video a few minutes ago. Let’s hear what she has to say."
"Hello," she waved at the screen. "I’m Lupita Lura Adams, Simon’s ex-fiancée. I was the person who called the paparazzi on Simon. I knew he’d been cheating, but I couldn’t get any evidence of his infidelity. With our wedding just a week away, I had to take extreme measures."
"I decided to follow him around. He told me about a business meeting and how he’d be having dinner with a potential client. I didn’t believe him, so I followed him. Some hours later, I discovered him at a hotel, and I saw a woman beside him. Seeing the woman, I automatically concluded that the woman was Simon’s side chick. I was mad, so I didn’t give her a chance to explain herself and immediately attacked her."
"It was a mistake. I apologize for what I did. I came to learn a few minutes ago that the woman was a stranger. She was a customer and never met with Simon, but seeing her close to Simon triggered me, and I lost all sense of reasoning, so I didn’t give her a chance to explain. I am sorry. To this strange woman, I apologize for embarrassing you. I’m willing to assist with the investigation if you wish to file charges or bring legal action against me."
"I hurt you, so I understand if you decide to sue me. Next time, I’ll be more careful. And also, I’ve received videos of Simon’s infidelity."
"I know who his side chicks are; I’ll post a video of Simon with his side chicks after this video. It turns out that Simon doesn’t have one side chick but two. One is a married woman, and the other is the daughter of his driver."
"I’ll post the videos on my Instagram after this video. I’ve ended my relationship with Simon, and I’m pulling all my support and investment from his company; I’ll also have my friends and family pull theirs."
"And to the strange woman whom I attacked, I apologize again. Guys, please don’t hate her; she is just a stranger caught up in this situation. I can’t imagine how she must be feeling or what my actions might have caused her. I extend my heartfelt apologies to all those who found my previous videos and pictures offensive. Bye, I hope you have a great day."
Then the video ended.
Ruby and I looked at each other; we didn’t look away immediately and stared at each other for a long time. Then suddenly, Ruby embraced and held me tight.
"Thank you so much."
I returned the hug, wrapping my hands around her. "You don’t have to thank me; Simon fooled you. You didn’t deserve all of that."
"No, thank you so much. I’m glad I have a friend like you," she cooed.
"Let’s call Cooper and appreciate him; he did this, not me," I murmured.
I know Cooper is a devil, but this wouldn’t have been possible without him.
