Chapter 68: Big shots

"Where does he want to meet?"

"At the parking lot. He wants to meet there."

"Which one?"

"It should be the VIP lot over there; I’m sure he won’t be in a crowded place."

"Alright, I’ll wait. Go to him," I smiled. "And try to win his heart."

"Do you want me to go alone?"

"Yes. You should see him alone."

"No, I’m too nervous; I can’t do that. Come with me, please."

"I’ll be like a third wheel; I don’t want that," I frowned.

"No, you won’t. I’ll introduce you to him."

"No, please."

"Come with me, I’m serious." She grabbed my hand and approached a sales attendant.

"Where can I find the VIP parking lot?"

"Over there."

"Thank you." Ruby dragged me to the parking lot.

"Over here," the president’s son called once we went in.

"I’ll stay here; speak to him."

"But he’s not alone. His guards are with him," she complained.

"They won’t bite you, or you can ask him to come here." frёewebnoѵēl.com

"Should I do that?"

"Girl, yes—oh wait, he’s heading our way. All you have to do is speak to him now. I’ll wait by the corner so I don’t interrupt your lovemaking with him," I said as I excused myself and moved away.

"Hi," I heard him say.

"Hi."

"I’m Cameron."

"I’m Ruby."

"Oh, I know your name. Nice to meet you."

"Pleasure to meet you too."

"I apologize for that incident. Have you used the voucher?"

"No, I haven’t."

"It’ll expire if you don’t use it today; try to use it," he advised.

"Alright." They both paused.

"Does it still hurt?" Ruby asked a minute later.

"What?"

"The girl slapped you. Does it hurt?"

He chuckled. "No, of course not. Thanks for asking."

"No problem."

He glanced over at me. "Why is your friend standing over there?"

"Oh, she doesn’t want to be the third wheel. I asked her to stay, but she insisted."

He chuckled again. "Why would she be the third wheel? Anyways, it was enjoyable meeting you. You don’t have to treat me to a meal; I only did my job by helping you. I just wanted to say that."

He called her to tell her this? What is he saying? Did I hear him correctly?

"Oh, really?"

"Yes, save your money; don’t waste it on me."

"Why would it be a waste? It’s not a waste; I’d love to treat you. I sincerely want that."

"Well, uh... I’m usually unavailable, and I’ll be leaving the country in two days."

"Really?"

"Yes."

"So the lunch thing won’t be possible?"

"I don’t think so."

"But you said you’re leaving in two days. Will you be busy?"

"I will. I think the only time I’ll be available is at 10:00 p.m. on Wednesday; I’ll be available from 10:00 p.m. until dawn."

"Great. What about dinner at 10:00 p.m.?"

"I will be at a party from 10:00 p.m. until dawn; my friends are throwing one for me."

"Oh, really?"

"Yes."

"Can I attend? Or is it exclusive to...?"

"You want to attend?"

"Yes, is it not possible?"

"It is."

"I will see you at the party, right?"

"You will."

"Okay, I’ll attend the party."

"Okay, I’ll be sure to send you an invite."

"No, make it two."

"Two?"

Two?? What two? I hope she’s not thinking of dragging me along to this party. I don’t like this.

"Yes, two. My friend and I."

What??

"Alright then, I’ll send you the details later."

"Thank you. Bye."

"Bye," he said and left. He got into his vehicle and left.

"Hey! What do you mean by two invites? I hope you’re not thinking of dragging me along?"

"I am. I can’t go alone. If it’s a party his friends are throwing, then you can guess how the party will go. His friends are probably all big shots: Alpha’s children, Beta’s children, Minister’s children, Senator’s children, Vice President’s children, business moguls’ children."

"They’ll all be influential."

"And so what?"

"That’s more reason why I need you there. You are wealthy, just like them."

"Ruby, come on, what sort of excuse is this?"

"It’s not an excuse. I’m being for real. I need to have you there. I can brag about my wealthy friend to them."

"I don’t think I can attend this party with you, Ruby. It seems like it’ll be an overnight party. I... I can’t attend," I murmured, shaking my head.

"You can. You have to. If you don’t attend, I won’t either."

"Ruby!"

"I’m serious. I’ll stay home if you don’t go."

"This is your opportunity to hook up with a president’s son; you’re telling me you’ll miss such an opportunity because of me?"

"Yes, if I miss it, then it’ll be on you. I’ll hate you for the rest of my life."

"I... Ruby... the brothers... I can’t go to such a party without informing them."

"You don’t have to inform them."

"It might get dangerous."

"Why so? I’m sure the party will be heavily guarded."

"It’s precisely because of that. The party is intended for a high-profile individual, which is why I must inform them. And... I don’t wish to speak to either of them right now. I’d be forced to text them if I’m to go with you."

"Oh," she made a sad face and lowered her head. "I truly want you to attend this party with me. I’ll be more confident by your side."

"Ruby, you don’t need me, sincerely."

"But I want you there."

"Okay. I’ve heard you." When she continued making a sad face, I had no choice but to accept her condition.

"Really?" Her face brightened at once.

"Yes, but I won’t stay overnight; I’ll leave by 12:00 a.m. or 1:00 a.m."

"That’s when the main party will begin."

"That’s my condition; if you want me to stay overnight, then I’ll have to message the brothers. I don’t want that."

She swallowed. "Okay, I agree. Until 1:00 a.m., we’ll both leave at 1:00 a.m.," she agreed.

"Alright, good. Do you think you might have been a bit too open? It felt like you were forcing the conversation earlier," I noticed.

"Yes, he is the president’s son; if it were some other dude, then I wouldn’t have done that."

"It doesn’t matter who he is. You shouldn’t show him how much you want him; he might take you for granted if you do that."

"Really?"

"I’m not sure, but that’s how I feel."

"Alright."

"When you see him tomorrow, show him a better version of yourself; if he doesn’t show much interest in you, then move on to the next guy. As you said, there’ll be many big shots there; move on to the next big shot," I advised her.

She smiled. "I’ll definitely do that."
