Chapter 2371: Chapter 2371: Matters Between Husband and Wife
Jasmine Yale slept for a long time.
When she woke up, the sky was misty, with a light rain falling outside, and the distance was shrouded in white fog.
She stared at the spot next to the bed for quite a while after getting up.
Sylvan Cheney had come by at night.
But, why was there no one beside her when she woke up? The spot beside the pillow was empty and cold, as if he had never been there at all.
If she hadn’t been so awake during the night, she’d almost suspect that she’d dreamed it all.
Jasmine Yale felt a sense of loss.
The day had already broken when she turned on her phone; it was half past nine in the morning.
There was an unread message from Sylvan Cheney: "I’ve arrived in Old York."
Jasmine Yale replied with a simple "Okay."
He indeed came during the night, but... quietly, and left in a hurry.
Jasmine Yale got up in a daze, and after washing up, she walked into the living room in her slippers.
Butler Santana was preparing lunch, and when she saw Jasmine get up, she frowned, "Miss Yale, it’s so strange, it seems like the slippers in the house have been moved. I distinctly remember they were placed on the second floor, but somehow they ended up on the first floor."
Butler Santana was filled with doubt, even a little scared.
Jasmine Yale smiled, "Someone came by in the night."
"Ah!" Butler Santana gaped, "At night? Someone came by?"
"He came by, left in the morning, stayed with me for the night."
Butler Santana’s eyes widened in disbelief, Mr. Cheney? Mr. Cheney came back at night? She didn’t know at all!
"Butler Santana, there’s no need to secretly text him next time, my health is really fine. It was just that the weather was bad yesterday, and the baby was a bit fussy. Today it’s much better. Although he rushed back during the night — it only takes a little more than two hours by plane — it’s very tiring to come and go like that. When he got home at night, he didn’t look well, and it was raining so heavily outside."
Butler Santana suddenly realized something. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
It was because of the text she’d secretly sent that Mr. Cheney returned.
But she never expected Mr. Cheney to rush back in the night, never expected it at all.
No one would likely do such a thing under normal circumstances.
Even though the distance between the two cities is short, how many people would have that kind of intention, especially since it was raining yesterday and the temperature was low.
Butler Santana was a bit shocked, unable to bounce back for a long time.
Jasmine Yale poured a glass of plain water for Butler Santana, smiled, and said, "But still, thank you, after he came back, he held me the whole time, and I slept very soundly. We even talked for a long time during the night. Thank you."
Butler Santana snapped back to her senses, "Miss Yale, I’m sorry, I was just too worried about you. You weren’t doing well yesterday, and I was afraid you were unwell. I didn’t expect Mr. Cheney to rush back at night, I only meant for him to call you. Mr. Cheney has a good heart..."
"It’s okay, I know your intentions." Jasmine Yale changed the subject, "Let me help you with cooking, I want to learn a bit too."
Butler Santana nodded.
She realized she acted rashly by texting Mr. Cheney without Jasmine Yale’s consent.
She wouldn’t do it again.
Since it’s a matter between the couple, it really wasn’t appropriate for her, an outsider, to interfere.
What Jasmine Yale said was also true, Mr. Cheney was busy with work and already had limited rest time, coming and going like that could easily result in mental exhaustion.
She knew Jasmine was considerate of the bigger picture, willing to put up with a little grievance herself.
Yet, she was still moved by Mr. Cheney’s actions; he truly has a good heart.
