Chapter 358: Chapter 359 Asked Me to Have His Pup
Christina’s POV
"I believe you," I said, and meant it.
A weight I had always been carrying suddenly lifted from my chest.
I grabbed the front of his robe and pulled him toward me, kissing him firmly on the lips.
When I tried to pull back, Hudson wouldn’t let me go. He yanked me against him and deepened the kiss, his tongue exploring my mouth.
Hudson had never been good at keeping his hands off me, and today was no exception. His control crumbled as his hands roamed over my body.
It was obvious he’d been holding back. One kiss was all it took to make him rock hard against my stomach.
I squeezed his straining erection through his pants.
"I have to go to work," I murmured against his lips.
"Call in sick," he said, voice rough with desire.
"I’m the boss. I can’t just take a day off whenever I feel like it. The studio needs me."
"Sell it. I’ll take care of you." His hands slid down to cup my ass.
I laughed softly. "I prefer to earn my own living."
"One day won’t matter." Before I could protest further, he claimed my mouth again. "It’s been too long. Don’t tell me you don’t want this."
The truth was, I did. Desperately.
Neither of us got any work done that day.
Or the next.
It was Thursday when I finally made it back to the studio.
Barely twenty minutes after settling at my desk, my phone rang.
I frowned at Genevieve’s name on the screen. What could she possibly want now?
"What?" I answered.
"Christina, darling... do you have any idea where Hudson was last night? Do you know what he and I got up to?"
I rolled my eyes. "Have you completely lost your mind? Hudson was at home with me last night. In my bed."
She let out a harsh laugh. "Oh, stop lying to yourself! He was with me at a hotel. There’s no way he was home with you. You’re just fooling yourself."
"I think you’ll find you’re the one who’s delusional."
"Oh really? Do you know what he said to me?"
"Oh?"
"He asked me if I would be willing to have his pup." She purred the words.
"Is this bitch for real?" Akira snarled.
My eyebrows shot up. "What the hell are you talking about? Genevieve, have you completely lost it? Is your desperation to have Hudson’s baby making you hallucinate? My husband would never ask you that. You seriously need professional help."
I almost laughed at the absurdity of it all.
How could she even come up with something so ridiculous?
"I think you need to see a psychiatrist," I continued. "Find out what’s actually wrong with your head, instead of just filling it with delusions. Anyway, I’m busy. Don’t call me again."
"Oh, scared now?" she taunted. "I don’t know what Hudson has told you, but you really shouldn’t kid yourself. Just you wait, once I give birth to his pup, he’ll divorce you for sure. You’ll see."
"I don’t believe you."
"It doesn’t matter what you believe. You won’t have a choice once it happens. He’s probably just too embarrassed to ask for a divorce himself, so he’s getting me to have his baby first. Once the pup is born, he’ll definitely leave you."
"Did Hudson actually say that to you himself?"
"Well, not in so many words, but that was clearly what he meant! I’m not stupid, I can read between the lines. Why else would he want me to have his baby? Besides, you’re so useless. You’ve been married to him and you still haven’t given him a pup."
Her voice grew nastier. "There must be something wrong with you. You should get yourself checked out, see if you can even have pups. If you can’t, you should stop holding Hudson back. He needs an heir. Who else is going to inherit his pack?"
What kind of garbage was this?
I was becoming convinced something was seriously wrong with Genevieve’s mind. How else could she conjure up these ideas? Unless... had Hudson actually said something to her?
"But... it doesn’t really matter whether you can have pups or not. Hudson doesn’t need you to give him a baby. He’s got me for that," Genevieve added.
"You’re actually insane," I finally managed.
"Ha! Think whatever you like." freewebnovel.cσ๓
"I do think you’ve officially lost it. I almost feel sorry for you. Look, I’m busy. Don’t call me again with this nonsense." I hung up before she could spew more garbage.
Even though I knew Genevieve was lying through her teeth, I couldn’t stop the uncomfortable feeling spreading through my chest. Why would she suddenly come up with something so specific?
I grabbed my phone and called Hudson, my fingers jabbing at the screen.
"Christina?" Hudson answered.
"Genevieve just called me."
"And?"
"She spouted complete nonsense. Said you asked her to have your pup?" Just repeating her words made my stomach churn.
"You believed her?" His tone sharpened.
"Of course I didn’t believe her. But why would she say that? You must’ve given her the wrong idea somehow, didn’t you?"
"What else did she say?"
I paced across my studio. "She said once she gives birth, you’ll divorce me and marry her. That you’re just buying time now."
I swallowed hard. "She also said I can’t have pups."
Hudson was silent for so long I checked to see if the call had dropped.
"It seems getting thrown into the lake didn’t knock any sense into her," he finally said. "If anything, it’s scrambled her brain even more. Don’t worry about what she meant. Just ignore her."
"If you won’t tell me what’s going on, it means you’re hiding something." I wasn’t about to let this go.
He sighed. "Fine. I’ll tell you."
