Chapter 351: Chapter 352 We Wait for the Results

Christina’s POV

"I remember now," I said. "When Hudson pulled me away earlier, I left my bag on the chair. Someone must’ve planted it then."

Genevieve’s confidence visibly wavered. "Well, I... It was someone else who told me," she mumbled, her eyes darting around the room.

"Who?" Hudson pressed.

"Th-that woman... she left. I don’t know her. She just saw I knew Christina and mentioned it to me." Genevieve’s explanation sounded flimsy even to my ears.

Naomi stepped forward. "Really? You look awfully guilty to me. Maybe YOU took it, and then panicked and planted it on Christina to save yourself?"

"How dare you accuse me like that?" Genevieve snapped.

"So you don’t like being falsely accused?" Naomi fired back, crossing her arms. "Then why didn’t you think of that before you accused Christina?"

Genevieve’s face flushed red. "How is this a false accusation? The evidence is right there—the ruby was in her bag!"

The assistant cleared his throat. "Alright, everyone, please calm down. We’re willing to let the matter drop. No charges will be pressed," he said, looking pointedly at Hudson.

But Hudson wasn’t backing down. "That’s not acceptable. If you won’t pursue this, I will."

He turned to me. "Christina, tell me—you never touched this ruby, did you?"

His question stung. Did he still doubt me?

"You don’t believe me either?"

"I do believe you," he said firmly. "I need to hear you say it—you never touched this ruby?"

"No, I didn’t!" I declared.

"Good." Hudson nodded.

He turned back to Genevieve. "Genevieve, Naomi just accused you of taking it. You deny it. So am I right in thinking you never touched this ruby either?"

"That’s right, I never touched it," Genevieve stated defiantly, tilting her chin up. "I didn’t even go near the display case. Everything Naomi said is a complete lie."

Hudson pulled out his phone. "I’ve called in a forensic team to run fingerprint analysis on the ruby. Whoever stole it must’ve touched it. We’ll know the truth soon enough." His sharp eyes fixed on Mr. Howard. "Does that sound acceptable, Mr. Howard?"

The man nodded quickly, clearly eager not to cross an Alpha of Hudson’s stature. "Of course. If it clears your Luna and finds the real culprit, everyone wins."

"But if she came prepared, she would’ve worn gloves or something," Genevieve argued. "So this is pointless."

"Then we’ll search the entire venue for gloves," Hudson countered. "I’ll also bring in a professional investigative team. If gloves were used, we’ll find them and test them." He took my hand in his. "And I’m confident my wife’s prints won’t be on them."

His eyes locked with mine with such conviction that I felt warmth spreading through my chest. I squeezed his hand. "I didn’t do it."

"I know," he replied simply.

"Christina, I believe you too," Niall added, stepping closer.

I gave him a distant smile. "Thank you." But honestly? His belief meant nothing to me now.

"Christina, we believe you too. We all believe you," Naomi said, her voice filled with support.

Meanwhile, Genevieve was trying to slip away, but Naomi’s sharp eyes caught her. "Genevieve, where do you think you’re going?"

"I’m going to the bathroom. What’s it to you?" Genevieve snapped irritably.

"Really? Or are you just trying to make a run for it?" Naomi’s voice dripped with accusation. "Seems pretty obvious you’re the one who stole it and framed Christina."

"Stop making these baseless accusations! Did you actually see anything?"

"You didn’t see Christina take anything either, yet you were quick to blame her," Naomi shot back. "So I’ll throw your words right back at you—did YOU see anything?" freёweɓnovel.com

Genevieve’s face contorted with anger. "You’re... utterly unreasonable," she huffed before storming off toward the bathroom. freewёbn૦νeɭ.com

"Sir, have your security keep an eye on her. Wouldn’t want her to accidentally ’get lost,’" Naomi suggested to the assistant.

He quickly signaled for a guard to follow Genevieve.

"I love how Naomi’s handling this, "Akira chuckled in my mind. "She’s not letting that snake slither away."

"You got that right," I replied silently.

Minutes later, Genevieve returned, her frustration evident as she couldn’t shake the security guard tailing her.

The guests in the hall mingled and waited, watching the scene unfold with keen interest. To them, this drama was far more entertaining than the party itself. I could feel their eyes on me, some curious, some judging, some simply amused.

After what felt like forever, the forensic team finally arrived.

Genevieve grew increasingly anxious as they entered. She approached Hudson and whispered, "I... it’s getting late. I should go."

"Why? Feeling guilty?" Hudson’s voice was low.

Genevieve’s face flushed bright red. "I..." She bit her lip, watching as the team began their work, setting up their equipment.

The pressure was too much. "Hudson... I admit it. I did it," she confessed quietly. "Please let me go, just this once. I won’t do it again."

I was standing close enough to hear her quiet confession, and I held my breath. Would Hudson protect her again? Would he sweep this under the rug like he’d done so many times before?

"We’ll wait for the results," was all Hudson said.

"So you won’t help me this time?" Genevieve’s eyes filled with tears. "You’re really going to humiliate me like this?"

But Hudson remained unmoved. "We wait for the results."

"You—" She looked desperate.

Genevieve turned to Cassian next. "Cassian, please talk to Hudson. Tell him to let this go. I’ve learned my lesson, I’ll apologize to Christina. Can’t we handle this privately? Must he shame me in front of everyone?"

Cassian let out a cold laugh. "Oh, so now you’re worried about being embarrassed? What about when you set up Christina? Did you think about the shame you caused her? Frankly, you brought this on yourself."

"So... none of you are going to help me, is that it? What happened to what you promised my brother? You said you would—" Genevieve began angrily, but Cassian cut her off.

"Don’t bring your brother into this. You don’t deserve to use his name."

"I..." Genevieve looked wounded.

She glanced toward Hudson, but his expression remained stony.

By then, they’d already taken my fingerprints. When one of the technicians approached Genevieve, she pulled back like she’d been burned. "I don’t want to give my prints."

"It’s not optional," Hudson said coolly. "If she refuses, do it anyway."
