Chapter 343: Chapter 344 Go Home With Me

Christina’s POV ƒгeewёbnovel.com

Niall looked uncomfortable. "Fine. I just... wanted some alone time with you."

He stood, grabbed his phone, and handed it to me. "Here, call whoever you want."

I took the phone, then realized—I couldn’t remember Hudson’s number.

"Who actually memorizes phone numbers anymore?" I muttered to myself.

I could have looked up his company’s main line and asked them to connect me to Hudson, but that felt like a hassle. It would take too long and create unnecessary drama before I was ready.

So I called Ysolde instead. Her number was a palindrome—easy to remember even in my fever-addled state.

"Hello? Who is this?" Ysolde answered, sounding exhausted.

"It’s me, Ysolde."

"Christina?" She swore loudly. "Shit!"

"What’s wrong?" I asked, alarmed.

"Nothing, just smacked my head on the cabinet. Is it really you? You’re alive?"

"I’m fine. Can you come get me?"

"You’re not dead? You’re actually okay?" Her voice cracked with emotion. "I’ve been losing my mind for two days! Haven’t slept, haven’t eaten... the entire Carlisle Pack has been searching everywhere for you!"

My heart squeezed hearing her distress. "I’m okay now. Just come get me, please?"

"Yes, of course. Tell me where you are. I’ll leave right now," she said, half-laughing, half-crying.

"Right, the address." I glanced at Niall.

He took the phone from me and gave Ysolde the address.

"She’s on her way," he said, returning the phone to his pocket.

I nodded, already feeling drained from that short conversation.

Niall left the room so I could change into the clothes he’d laid out.

I refused his offer to help me downstairs.

The house was new and well-decorated—tasteful in that typical Frostpelt Pack style of understated luxury. Part of me wanted to ask what happened to the pack house’s room—the one that was supposed to be our marital home. But I didn’t care enough to ask.

I sat on the living room sofa, trying to piece together what happened the day I fell into the lake. The harder I tried, the more my head throbbed.

"Maybe you should rest until your friend arrives," Niall suggested, hovering nearby.

"I’m fine," I said curtly.

When tires crunched on the gravel outside, relief washed over me. Ysolde was here.

I stood up, wobbling slightly as I headed for the door.

"What are you doing here?" I heard Ysolde’s voice outside, sharp with anger.

I pulled open the door and froze when I saw Hudson stepping out of his car behind Ysolde’s car.

"Are you tracking me now?" Ysolde glared at Hudson. "Following me around Highrise City?"

He looked terrible. The always-impeccable Alpha of the Sabreridge Pack had lost weight, his normally piercing eyes were bloodshot, and his usual commanding presence seemed diminished. His designer suit was rumpled like he’d been wearing it for days.

Seeing him like that made my heart ache fiercely. Akira whined inside me.

"Christina, I swear I didn’t tell him where we were going! I had no idea he was tracking me," Ysolde turned to me quickly, her voice frantic.

I gave her a weak smile. "I believe you."

She rushed over, inspected me critically, then pulled me into a gentle hug. "Look at you! You’re as white as a ghost."

I patted her back. "I’m okay. Just a little fever. Nothing serious."

"Let’s get you out of here," she murmured.

I nodded, then turned to Niall. "Thank you again for saving me. Goodbye."

Niall just nodded silently, his eyes darting nervously toward Hudson.

Ysolde had never liked Niall, especially after he’d slapped me, but this time she merely snorted softly without comment.

I’d only taken a few steps when Hudson moved forward, his entire body rigid with tension.

Before I could speak, Ysolde jumped in front of me protectively. "What do you think you’re doing? Haven’t you hurt her enough? If Niall hadn’t pulled her out, she’d be dead at the bottom of that lake!"

Hudson’s face darkened, his eyes never leaving mine.

"I bet you wish she were dead, don’t you? Then you could run off with that poisonous bitch Genevieve without anyone judging you! Well, you can pretend she’s dead now! That should free up your mating schedule nicely!" Ysolde’s eyes flashed with anger.

A cold, dominant energy radiated from Hudson. It was enough to make Ysolde hesitate, but she stood her ground. "Don’t you dare use your Alpha aura on me. I’m not scared of you. I’d rather die than let you hurt my friend again. Christina, let’s go."

"I’m here to take you home, Christina," Hudson said quietly, his voice hoarse but his gaze steady on mine.

Akira whined pitifully inside me. "Home. Our den."

My heart clenched. I bit my lip, torn between anger and longing.

Ysolde refused to back down. "Don’t go with him! How can you still believe anything he says? What happens when he hurts you again? When he drives you to the edge again? You got lucky this time. Next time you might not !" freёweɓnovel.com

"Christina..." Hudson completely ignored Ysolde, as if she weren’t even there. His bloodshot eyes burned into mine, the mating bond between us pulling like a physical force.

"Let’s go. Ignore him," Ysolde insisted, tugging firmly on my arm, afraid I’d give in.

I gently pulled my hand free and said softly, "I have to go home eventually."

"You still want to go back? You’re not planning to reject him properly?" Ysolde was practically vibrating with frustration. "I swear, the fever must have fried your brain. Do you really think this cheating Alpha is going to change? He—"

"I’ll call you later," I said quietly. I knew she was only this angry because she cared.
