Chapter 323: Chapter 323 Petty Shopping Dispute
Christina’s POV
"Sorry, this is our last one. Some designs are limited edition with only a few pieces made. I could have another shipped from a different branch," the sales assistant explained apologetically.
"I want this one," Pink Hair stated, her tone dripping with entitlement.
I glanced over at the woman standing behind her, who shot me a look of pure satisfaction. She’d clearly put her friend up to this little stunt.
My mood, already sour from breakfast with Hudson, plummeted further. The universe really was testing me today.
I hadn’t even wanted to buy the damn bracelet; I just wanted to examine the clasp design. But now? No way was I leaving without it, if only to wipe that smug look off Genevieve’s face.
"Excuse me, I saw this first," I said, reaching for the bracelet. "There’s this little concept called ’first come, first served.’"
Pink Hair clutched it tightly, her knuckles whitening. "Hmph. I’ve never wanted something I couldn’t get."
"And I’ve never had my eye on something I’d willingly hand over," I shot back coolly. I turned to the sales assistant. "Please wrap it for me."
The assistant nodded. "Of course." She gave Pink Hair an apologetic smile. "I’m sorry, but this piece has been claimed. I can call another branch and have one sent over in a few hours, or we could deliver it to your home."
"I said I want THIS one," Pink Hair snapped, her grip tightening around the jewelry.
The assistant looked at me nervously, clearly hoping to defuse the situation. I cut in before she could speak.
"Not happening. Once I’ve chosen something, it’s mine. No one takes what’s mine."
At that point, Genevieve finally sauntered over, pretending surprise. "Christina, isn’t it? What a coincidence."
"It’s Luna Christina to you," I corrected her frostily.
"Mindy, isn’t this bracelet gorgeous?" Genevieve cooed to Pink Hair. "The color suits you perfectly. It would be wasted on... others." Her eyes flicked dismissively over me. "This is yours."
Her tone made it clear we weren’t just talking about jewelry.
"In case you missed the lesson on basic manners, not everything is yours to grab," I said. "I saw it first. It’s mine." I turned to the sales assistant. "Sort this out. The bracelet is mine."
The poor woman looked trapped, her eyes darting between us like a cornered rabbit.
"First come, first served?" Genevieve’s voice rose sharply, her expression hardening. "Don’t make me laugh. I’ve known Hudson since we were pups. And who are you? Some nobody who appeared out of nowhere. You think you understand what ’first come, first served’ means? ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
"So what if you knew him first?" I smiled, my eyes glittering. "He doesn’t want you. He married me. What does your childhood connection matter now?"
Genevieve’s teeth ground together audibly, her fists clenched at her sides. "That bracelet is mine. And so is Hudson. One day, I’ll take him from you."
"Really? I’d love to see how you manage that," I laughed. "You couldn’t get him to marry you when he was single. Now that he’s my husband, I can’t wait to see your brilliant plan to steal him away."
Genevieve’s eyes flashed with fury. "Just watch me. I’ll make sure you see it with your own eyes. If I can snatch this bracelet, I can snatch Hudson too." She turned to Pink Hair. "Go on, Mindy. Pay for it."
"Don’t you dare," I warned the sales assistant with a cold stare. "I saw that bracelet first. It’s mine. If you sell it to her, there will be consequences."
Genevieve laughed mockingly. "I’d love to see you stop me. Let’s see how you plan to get it back." She snapped at the assistant, "Well? What are you waiting for? Ring it up."
"I’m so sorry, but..." the assistant stammered.
"Save it," Genevieve cut her off. "You’ll see soon enough."
She pulled out her phone, made a quick call, then hung up with a triumphant smile. She looked me up and down with naked contempt. "I’ve called in a favor. The owner of this shop is on his way. If I want, he’ll hand me this bracelet as a gift. And you?" She sneered. "I know all about you. From that pathetic Crescent Pack. What power do you have to fight me? What resources can you possibly use to compete with me?"
"You’re right. My pack can’t compete with yours in connections," I admitted. "But I have Hudson." I smiled sweetly and pulled out my phone. Right in front of Genevieve, I dialed Hudson’s number and used my sweetest voice. "Hi, Hudson. I’m at the mall looking at a bracelet, and I need you here." freewebnøvel.coɱ
"Where are you?" His deep voice came through immediately. "I’ll be right there."
I felt a warm rush of satisfaction. "I’ll send you my location." I looked at Genevieve with undisguised delight.
Petty? Absolutely. But after the mysterious midnight caller and his silence at breakfast, I needed this win.
For a moment, Genevieve looked genuinely rattled, as if she couldn’t quite believe Hudson would actually come for something so trivial.
"Ten minutes. I’m on my way," Hudson stated before hanging up.
I sent him my location. His reply flashed back instantly: [Got it].
I tilted my head, smiling at Genevieve with exaggerated innocence. "See, Genevieve? You’re not the only one with connections."
She scoffed. "Do you honestly think he’ll drop everything and come running? He’s the Alpha of the most powerful pack in the northern territories. He’s running a massive corporation. Do you really believe he’ll leave a room full of executives just to sort out a petty shopping dispute for you?"
