Chapter 122: Chapter 122 Wedding Chaos
Christina’s POV
"Niall called an ambulance," Ysolde explained. "He told his father the wedding had to be delayed and begged him to calm the guests. You should have seen Alpha Clive’s face, Moon Goddess. He looked ready to tear Niall apart. He kept shouting about what the other packs would think."
"That sounds like Alpha Clive," I said. The Frostpelt Pack cared too much about appearances.
"I felt bad for Niall. Beatrice was barely awake and sweating hard. Everyone could see she wasn’t pretending."
"Then what happened?"
"Complete chaos. Niall yelled, Alpha Clive yelled back. Luna Louisa tried to help, but nobody listened. Then your parents showed up and ran straight to Beatrice. The ambulance came, and Niall and Willow left with Beatrice."
Akira stirred inside me. She felt satisfied. " Karma finally caught up with her."
"It did, " I agreed.
Ysolde’s voice brightened. "The good news is I got amazing wedding cake. It’s seriously delicious."
"Forget the cake. You won’t believe what I have to tell you."
"Better than my story?" Ysolde laughed. "Unless you somehow got pregnant with Alpha Hudson’s pup, nothing will shock me today."
"Don’t be so sure." I jumped off the bed, suddenly excited. "Meet me somewhere. This is too big for a phone call. You’ll want to be sitting down."
"I am sitting down, eating the best wedding cake in Highrise City."
"Just come. Trust me, you won’t regret it."
"Fine. The drama is over here anyway. Alpha Clive and your father are apologizing to everyone. Where should we meet?"
I suggested a café we both liked.
Ysolde said no immediately. "Let’s go to a cake shop instead. I want more cake now."
I changed clothes and went downstairs.
Hudson looked up from his laptop. "Just got word from the police. Someone posted bail for Jace."
"Beatrice? That was fast. I thought she was still in the hospital." I told him about Ysolde’s wedding story.
"No, not Beatrice. It was Niall Granger."
"Ha!" I laughed out loud.
Hudson smiled like a predator. "You were right. The Grangers are about to get a big surprise when Jace starts talking."
"I wish I could watch that conversation."
"Going out?" Hudson noticed my handbag.
"Meeting Ysolde for tea. I need to tell her everything."
"I thought we could have tea together. I asked Geoffrey to prepare something."
I looked toward the kitchen and felt guilty. "Um..."
"It’s fine." Hudson’s voice was calm, but I saw the disappointment in his eyes. "You need a friend after everything today. I understand."
"We could have dinner together," I said, moving closer and kissing him. "You were the first person I talked to about all this, remember?"
This time his smile was real. It warmed his eyes. Hudson pulled me close for another kiss.
***
It took two slices of red velvet, one chocolate fudge, and three cups of strong coffee for Ysolde to process my story.
The telling took almost an hour. Ysolde kept gasping and saying "holy shit" and "are you kidding me?" loud enough that other people stared at us. fгeewebnovёl.com
"So that’s the story of Beatrice who isn’t really a Vance." I leaned back in my chair. My throat was dry from talking so much.
Ysolde was eating strawberry shortcake when she saw my look. "I like sweets and have no self control. Sue me."
"No thanks. I just escaped two court cases." I checked my phone. "I need to go home."
"But you just got here!"
"I’ve been out for almost two hours. I promised Hudson I’d be back for dinner."
"We can have dinner together."
"Thanks, but I don’t eat cake for dinner."
"We’ll go somewhere else. You can’t drop news like this and just leave. I have questions!"
"But I promised Hudson..."
"Really?" She pointed her fork at me. "Ditching your best friend for a man? That’s against the Bestie Code."
I laughed. "There’s no Bestie Code."
"There is in my pack," she said. "Rule number one, Pack sisters before Mates."
"Fine. I can stay a little longer." I sat back down.
Ysolde suddenly pushed her plate away and stood up. "Let’s go."
"Where? I just sat down." freewebnøvel.coɱ
"To a bar. I need alcohol after all this news, not coffee."
"But dinner..."
"Yeah, yeah, your dinner with Alpha Hotness. I didn’t forget." She pulled me up. "Don’t worry. I’ll get you home in time for dinner and your night activities with your man."
"It’s just dinner," I said, feeling my face get hot. "No night activities."
"That’s sad." She got us into a taxi and told the driver where to go. "It’s a new bar. My friend from the Ravenclaw pack owns it. He asked me to try drinks and give feedback. The drinks are free."
I ordered something called Peat & Zest. It was smoky whisky with lime and something else I couldn’t name.
I took a sip. "It’s good."
Ysolde had already finished three Hugo Spritzes in twenty minutes. She was buzzing with energy. Her eyes sparkled as she looked at her phone.
"Word is already spreading through the northern packs," she said, waving her phone at me. "People are talking. Big time."
She giggled and almost fell off her stool.
"Careful there." I caught her arm.
"Some people say Niall ran from the wedding," she said with a slur. "Others say Beatrice got scared. Everyone heard the ambulance. The gossip is everywhere."
"This is better than I hoped, "Akira purred inside me.
"And none of them know what really happened," I said quietly, taking another sip.
