Chapter 118: Chapter 118 Security Footage

Christina’s POV

Rexford tried hard to impress Hudson, who might be the biggest client of his career.

"Alpha Hudson, you have my word. I handle these matters very carefully. The mall project in Highrise City will get our full attention. Nothing will go wrong."

Hudson nodded once. "Someone with authorized access tampered with the security footage." He stared at Rexford. "Who has that kind of access here?" frёewebnoѵēl.com

"Management and security staff," Rexford said.

Savannah spoke quickly. "I swear I never touched anything! I would bet my job on it. I wouldn’t even know how to change security footage."

Rexford looked at her with doubt before saying, "So it must be security."

"I’ll bring them here right away." Savannah started dialing immediately.

Three guards arrived minutes later. An older man led the group with two younger men beside him.

Savannah got straight to the point. "Which one of you helped Violet Lin change the security footage?"

The guards looked at each other blankly. None of them spoke.

Savannah turned angrily toward Violet. "Come on, tell us. Who helped you delete that footage?"

"No one!" Violet’s face turned completely white. "I didn’t do anything! This is all wrong!"

I pointed at the youngest guard. He barely had any facial hair. His name tag said "Jace."

"I saw him with Violet after hours. Everyone else had gone home. She gave him something that looked like a card. Then they went to Savannah’s office together."

Violet glared at me with pure hatred.

"Don’t just believe me," I said calmly. "Call the police. Let them figure it out."

The young guard looked nervous. He seemed ready to run.

Rexford hesitated. "Do we really need the police? Think about our company image. The bad publicity would hurt us. Alpha Hudson..."

"No need," Hudson said firmly. "I’ll handle this myself."

His eyes locked onto Jace, and I felt his Alpha power fill the room.

"Tell me exactly what happened," Hudson commanded, his voice carrying the unmistakable weight of an Alpha order.

Jace’s body went rigid. His eyes widened as he fought against the compulsion, but it was useless. No wolf could resist a direct Alpha command without suffering intense pain.

"I... I helped Violet change the footage," Jace stammered, the words being pulled from him against his will. "She paid me to do it. I needed the money. I can’t go back to jail!"

Savannah gasped and dropped her phone in shock. It clattered to the floor and went dark.

She was too stunned by his confession to worry about her broken phone.

"Violet? You really did this?"

Violet turned her death glare from me to Jace.

"What?" Jace snapped back. "Yeah, you paid me to change the footage, but not enough to go to prison for you."

"Violet!" Savannah’s voice reached notes I had never heard before.

Violet would have run if so many people weren’t blocking her way.

"Explain yourself!" Savannah demanded.

Violet shuffled awkwardly. Her confidence disappeared. "It wasn’t like that. The necklace was beautiful and very popular. I just wanted to try it on. I was going to return it the next day. No harm done, right?"

"Then where is the necklace now? The one in the display case is fake!"

"I sort of lost it." Violet’s voice got quieter. "I can pay for it. I’ll pay ten times what it’s worth! Just please don’t tell my family and my pack about this!I can fix this!"

Akira growled inside me. "Karma finally caught up to her. Isn’t it beautiful?"

"Yes," I thought back. "Almost worth all the trouble she’s caused."

Savannah rubbed her forehead. She looked completely defeated. Her eyes moved between Rexford and Hudson, silently begging.

Rexford hesitated. He clearly wanted to fix the situation.

Hudson’s voice was cold. "My order stands. Call the police."

Rexford grimaced. "Savannah, call the police."

"Fine." Savannah borrowed someone else’s phone. "They’ll be here soon."

Jace tried to run, but Hudson’s security team blocked him.

Trapped, he turned and screamed at Violet, "This is all your fault!"

Then he focused his anger on me. "And you, you interfering bitch. If you’d kept your mouth shut, none of this..."

I barely saw Hudson move. One second he was beside me. The next he had Jace pinned against the wall by his throat.

Jace’s face turned purple. Hudson’s grip was tight enough to stop his breathing.

"I want to rip your throat out for disrespecting my mate," Hudson growled.

Jace looked like he was about to be strangled.

Finally, Hudson let go. Jace fell to the floor, gasping and coughing.

"When the police arrive," Hudson told Rexford, "have them check his criminal record. He clearly has one."

Rexford had stopped trying to control things. He just nodded.

"Watch him," Hudson ordered his security team.

"I wasn’t running," Jace wheezed. "I just wanted to call my family for bail money."

I agreed with Hudson. The guy knew too much about being arrested not to have experience.

"I promise I won’t try to escape again!" Jace begged. "Just let me make one call, please? I don’t have my phone with me."

Rexford looked to Hudson for guidance.

Hudson stayed silent. Jace took this as permission.

Jace got to his feet and limped to the nearest phone. He dialed a number with shaking hands.

"Come on, pick up, pick up..." Sweat formed on his forehead. "You have to help me..."

The line kept ringing.

He cursed, hung up, and dialed again.

I stepped forward. Something about this bothered me.

Hudson stopped me with a gentle touch. His eyes asked why.

"I need to see what number he’s calling," I whispered.

"You recognize it?"

I nodded. "I think so."

After my breakup with Niall, that same number had called me many times. Once I figured out who it was, I blocked it immediately.

Jace hit redial over and over. He tried at least ten times before someone finally answered.

"You gotta get me out of here!" he whined. "I got caught changing the company footage. The cops are coming! You need to bail me out at the station, fast!"

I stood close enough to hear the ringing but couldn’t catch the response. It was brief. Then the call ended with a sharp click.

Jace swore angrily.

As he started to dial again, I stepped forward and stopped him.

"Who are you calling?"
