Chapter 8: Humaniod Night
Viera immediately cried out in joy once she saw him. "Husband!!"
Edgar frowned when he heard her shout. He quickly picked up the dagger that was placed beside him.
Viera stood up and looked at the man in disbelief. "H-how a-are you still alive?"
"I killed those bandits as soon as you ran away." He replied with a pained expression. "I got injured in the process."
The lady hesitated, her eyes lingering on the man before she looked at Edgar with a complicated expression.
She herself had gotten inside the fortress by begging. With what face could she ask him to let her husband in?
Edgar kept looking at the man without blinking.
"Viera." The man said, extending his hand. "Would you not invite your husband in?"
She didn’t reply. Biting her lips, she could only look at Edgar pleadingly.
Just as Edgar stared at the man, the light of the ⟨Watch Tower⟩ fell on him.
The man visibly flinched, his expression contorting with pain.
A condensed beam of light was fired at him that he quickly dodged.
Edgar didn’t hesitate after that. He pulled his hand back and threw the dagger with all his strength.
"ARGHHHH!!"
The dagger dug deep into the man’s chest as he let out a scream.
"NOO!!!"
Viera let out a scream, her legs going limp as she fell on the ground.
Her son quickly rushed to help his mother while the body of the man began to change.
It shrank in size like a deflated balloon until the body of a young child-like creature was left behind.
Edgar picked up his stick and scooped the Nightmare Stone and the dagger from the ’Humanoid Night.’
’It’s just as I expected, they are not physically strong. They only rely on the ability to trick others.’
Edgar drew in a deep breath and looked at the duo of mother and son. "It would be better if you both entered the house."
He paused for a second before adding, "You will only be a liability."
They both lowered their heads and, without saying anything, walked inside the guest house.
Oswald, who stood on the side, walked towards Edgar. "These creatures have the ability to glimpse someone’s trauma."
Edgar nodded his head. "I figured that much."
The old man hesitated. "Young master...."
"I will be fine." Edgar replied with a smile as he picked up the dagger. "Don’t worry about me."
He tied the dagger to a stick, making a makeshift spear.
Just as they finished speaking, the darkness around them made a rustling sound.
From the shadows, three identical figures walked closer to the fortress.
They were female, with long blonde hair and beautiful faces consisting of dove-like eyes and thin lips.
They had genial smiles on their faces as they raised their hands.
"Son~." All three of them said together. "Let me hug you, dear."
Edgar looked at the familiar yet unfamiliar face in front of him. She was the mother of the body he possessed.
’What a sick world this is.... thankfully they couldn’t see ’my’ trauma.’
Edgar didn’t hesitate to move. He thrust his spear, killing all three of them one by one.
But it wasn’t long before more of them began to walk out of the darkness.
Some took the appearance of his father, some of his mother, and some of his ex-fiancée.
Edgar killed all of them in cold blood but the night had only started.

"Young master!"
After killing fourteen of the ’Humanoid Night’s, Edgar heard Oswald’s cry of joy.
"It’s a Nightmare Material!" frёewebnoѵēl.com
Edgar looked around the place and didn’t find any more Nightmares.
He let out a sigh and walked towards Oswald with his makeshift spear.
While being busy killing the ’Humanoid Night’s, Edgar had assigned the task of collecting the stones to Oswald.
The old man showed him a red stone-like item with mouths and eyes all over its surface.
When Edgar concentrated, a series of words appeared in front of his eyes.
⟨Nightmare Material: Humanoid Night Mimicry⟩
⟨Grade: White⟩
⟨Ritual: Mix it with two Nightmare Stones under Eternal Night⟩
⟨Ability: Can mimic the power and appearance of a building for two days⟩

Edgar stared at the information about the material as his eyes lit up.
’This is some good stuff!’
He quickly took it from the old man and examined it under the light.
Without hesitation, he decided to use the Nightmare Material on the spot.
He quickly gathered the two Nightmare Stones, broke them, and mixed their white liquid with the Nightmare Material.
The red clay stone glowed as all the eyes on it lit up.
The light began to expand as Edgar focused on guiding it to create another ⟨Watch Tower⟩.
In no time, there were two ⟨Watch Tower⟩s in his fortress!!
Oswald, who had already lived a long life, couldn’t help but sigh in disbelief.
"I still am a novice when it comes to the miracles of the Eternal Night."
His voice was fleeting as he looked at Edgar with a small smile. "Master would be proud of your exponential growth."
Edgar nodded his head without saying anything in response.
’I am not even the real Edgar and your master’s son.’
He walked close to the ⟨Watch Tower⟩ and looked around the place.
The night had gone too silent, like there was nothing within the darkness.
’But that’s wrong.’ Edgar thought grimly. ’The Eternal Night is filled with countless Nightmare creatures.’
The absence of creatures could only mean one thing; something more dangerous was lurking in the shadows...
The silence continued, occasionally broken by the sound of rustling wind.
Edgar felt his heart palpitate as he slowly turned to look at the old man. "Uncle, hide behind the Watch Tower."
Oswald tilted his head in confusion. "Why?"
"Hide!"
Edgar yelled and rushed behind the ⟨Watch Tower⟩ as well. freewebnovel.cσ๓
The old man was quick on his feet and hid along with him.
At that moment, a loud scream echoed within the Eternal darkness.
A huge body appeared within the proximity of the light. A Snow Hand Rabbit as tall as four meters rushed in.
It had two huge horns on its head and a weight that shook the ground.
Without fearing the ’Unbroken Fire’, the Nightmare entered the fortress.
