Chapter 509: Chapter 219: The 10 Levels of the Mental Realm, Unity of Heart and Body
The next day, after all the students had finished their breakfast and Spirit Tea, they were summoned to the lecture hall. Along the way, everyone was discussing the "Mental Realm Evolution Method."
Just as Chu Lingguang had expected, even heavenly prodigies like Yan Zhen and Tuoba Yunhong were temporarily unable to grasp the essential points of the "Mental Realm Evolution Method."
Although it contained cultivation mantras and everyone recognized every word, applying them was troublesome. Without a deep understanding or guidance from the academy’s teachers, trying to master this Cultivation Technique on one’s own would require a period of trial and error for anyone.
The black-robed man who had brought them from the posthouse the day before appeared before them once again. He led the group into the lecture hall.
"Teacher Yun Hong."
At last, Chu Lingguang and Yun Hong met again.
It seemed Yun Hong was a lecturer for the academy.
"Mr. Li, Mr. Liu."
A moment later, Chu Lingguang saw Liu Wan and Li Dayao enter the lecture hall together. They went to the wall behind Yun Hong and hung up a curtain over three meters long.
Once the curtain was unfurled, everyone could see two human figures drawn on it. One faced the crowd, while the other had its back to them. Their bodies were covered in numerous lines.
There was a red dot in both the abdominal cavity and the head of each figure.
Yan Zhen focused his gaze, then hastily flipped through his copy of the "Mental Realm Evolution Method," a look of delight appearing in his eyes.
Chu Lingguang also quickly realized what was happening. The patterns of lines on the human figures seemed to be diagrams for the "Mental Realm Evolution Method." By referencing these lines and combining them with the text of the method, the parts that had been difficult to comprehend now seemed to have a guide.
Moreover, Chu Lingguang could also see the different levels of change in the Mental Realm from the two diagrams.
To everyone’s great surprise, the Mental Realm actually had ten levels: Unity of Heart and Qi, Unity of Heart and Strength, Unity of Heart and Body, Unity of Heart and Will, Unity of Heart and Thought, Unity of Heart and Spirit, Unity of Heart and Moon, Unity of Heart and Sun, Unity of Heart and Earth, and Unity of Heart and Heaven.
Unity of Heart and Qi allowed one to receive a response from their Qi and Blood. Through this response, one could cultivate their Spear Technique to the Form Realm, practice three layers of Skillful Force, and successfully project Fist Force, eventually condensing a Qi Sea in their abdomen and awakening Dragon Elephant Power.
Unity of Heart and Strength allowed one to receive a response from their Dantian and Potential Power. One could then successfully condense Dantian Power, causing the Dragon Elephant to evolve until it transformed into Primitive Power, and receive a response from their bloodline to successfully evolve Divine Abilities.
Unity of Heart and Body allowed one to receive streams of responses from every part of their body, to understand the "voice" of every meridian. It enabled the fusion of Divine Abilities and Dantian Power, a breakthrough of the Qi Sea to step into the True Martial Realm, and eventually, a breakthrough to the Life and Death Realm.
Unity of Heart and Will allowed one to receive streams of responses from the Sea of Consciousness, creating a resonance between the Sea of Consciousness and the Dantian. This allowed one to condense Telekinesis and use Spiritual Power to communicate with the Five Elements of Heaven and Earth, directly reaching the Qi Refining Realm.
Unity of Heart and Thought allowed one to create a perfect resonance between Telekinesis and the Potential Energy surrounding the body. This let one condense Potential Power within the Dantian, using Telekinesis to fuse this surrounding Potential Energy with all of one’s own power inside the Dantian, transforming the Dantian into a Dao Field and completing Foundation Establishment within a hundred days.
Unity of Heart and Spirit...
Chu Lingguang, Yan Zhen, and the others were utterly captivated. Even before entering the Imperial City Academy, they had known the importance of the Mental Realm.
But it was only after seeing the explanations for each level on the Mental Realm diagrams that they viscerally understood just how crucial the Mental Realm was to cultivation.
They now understood that the Mental Realm was like a key to the Martial Arts Hall. Only with this key could they roam freely within and obtain their own streams of power.
Then, the students began to assess their own Mental Realm levels against the diagrams.
Chu Lingguang discovered that even though his Heart Guarding Skill was so outstanding that even his master admitted inferiority, and despite having felt his Mental Realm transform multiple times, according to the diagrams, he had only reached the second level: Unity of Heart and Strength.
But for a fleeting moment, he felt that wasn’t right.
He recalled the Provincial Martial Arts Examination, during the Fist Technique combat portion, where he had discovered Yan Zhen possessed a Martial Arts Heart that was unflinching and yearned to challenge everything.
He had been deeply inspired at that moment, and his Mental Realm had undergone a transformation.
He had heard many responses from his body. But at that critical moment during the Martial Arts Examination, he had chosen to create a resonance between his Flesh and Blood Divine Power and his Sea of Consciousness Power. In the end, a single punch had knocked ten Government Soldiers and nine other candidates down from a distance, all at once.
In the final round, with Yan Zhen’s help, his Flesh and Blood Divine Power and Sea of Consciousness Power had reached a state of perfect resonance. He had ultimately condensed a power like an ice shard—nearly materialized, invisible yet clearly perceptible. Although it failed to break Yan Zhen’s Sword Momentum, it had left Yan Zhen severely injured.
’Unity of Heart and Body... could it be that on the day of the Fist Technique bout, my Mental Realm actually entered the third level?’ Chu Lingguang wondered.
After the Martial Arts Examination ended, he had tried many times to listen for those responses within his body again.
Unfortunately, he had never succeeded.
Now, at the Imperial City Academy, seeing the explanations on the Mental Realm diagrams, for a brief moment, Chu Lingguang felt that perhaps his Mental Realm wasn’t at the second level, Unity of Heart and Strength, but the third, Unity of Heart and Body.
Perhaps his realm was unstable, or perhaps he had simply failed to grasp the feeling and was unable to keep his Mental Realm in that state.
But regardless, according to the Mental Realm diagrams, he must have entered the third level of the Mental Realm before. It had to be because of that transformation in his Mental Realm that his Flesh and Blood Divine Power was able to perfectly resonate with his Sea of Consciousness Power.
Most likely, not even Yan Zhen or Tuoba Yunhong had ever entered the third level of the Mental Realm.
