Chapter 3624: Baseline
After so many years of planning, Alex was finally free to test his unity.
Everyone who could bother him had been told of his plans already, and all the pills that needed to be made had also been made. His Origins had also been filled to a point where he would not be bothered for the next two realms.
Only once he broke through to the Immortal Transcendent 5th realm would he have to start worrying about it affecting his cultivation speed.
Alex sat in his room, deciding just where to start the test. There was an assortment of pills for him to choose from, but he realized that to start off, he wouldn’t be needing any pills at all. Those would come a bit later.
Alex brought out another thing from his Soul Space, a circular platform made of metal, with runes carved all throughout it to form a certain script-based formation.
Battlesage had made it upon Alex’s request and now he was free to use it.
Since Alex planned on testing the speed of his cultivation more than anything, he wanted to rely on something more than just his own opinion. An instrument that could test the speed of his cultivation would most certainly be more usable, as a quantifiable metric would help him understand the differences better.
Alex started his cultivation session upon that formation, cultivating normally as he always would. This first session would be a control session. This would be the baseline of his cultivation speed, which the formation he sat upon would measure.
According to Battlesage, the formation he crafted recorded the amount of Qi that was flowing into the body of anyone who cultivated upon it as well as the amount that came out of them.
Depending on how much of the Qi ended up remaining inside their body thanks to this, Alex could get a baseline measure of his cultivation speed.
Before starting, Alex made sure to expend every single bit of Qi in his body so that he could get a fresh start. That would always make for a better result.
He cultivated just as he usually did, making sure that he did nothing out of the ordinary to affect his control. His cultivation session lasted for nearly 2 months as Alex wanted the formation below him to take ample time coming up with the baseline measure.
When he was finally done, Alex checked the formation, which had 3 different numbers for him.
The lowest value was 1339. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com
The highest value was 2154.
And the average value was 1758.
Those numbers meant absolutely nothing to Alex at the moment, but since they were just baseline numbers, they would be something for him to compare the rest of the numbers against.
He rested for a day, using the time to bleed out his Qi and use it to feed the growing number of Pill Bugs in his Soul Space. Once all of the Qi in his body was completely empty, Alex stepped back on the formation and started another control session.
Only this time, he ate a 9-veined cultivation pill to give him a boost with his cultivation speed.
Alex cultivated regularly for 2 more months, eating another pill when the effects of the first one started to end. He made sure to eat only 4 pills in total, one every two weeks.
With that sort of cultivation style, Alex could see another change in the values.
The lowest value the formation gave now was 3455.
That number was already more than the best Alex could do without using the pills.
The average value came to be 9611 and the highest value ended up being 16834.
Alex knew his cultivation speed improved massively when taking the pill, but seeing that amount in a numerical value left him far more speechless than he would have thought it would.
His speed increased by nearly 6 times thanks to the pills. Anything that would take 6 years would instead take just 1 year for him thanks to the pills.
Realizing that he was breaking through every two decades at this point, Alex couldn’t help but sigh upon realizing that if he were to cultivate normally, it would’ve taken him a century to break through at the least.
"Good thing I can make 9-veined pills, or else even I would be incredibly slow at progressing," Alex thought to himself.
The numerical gap between the numbers was far too high, so Alex wondered if he should test for both conditions. After considering the options for a bit, he decided to do the first set of tests with both conditions. And once he got a hang of how the cultivation pills blew up the numbers, he could cultivate without them.
While these numbers were a baseline, he had to understand the basis of the baseline. His spirit roots were already of a certain variety, so he needed to understand that first before choosing to alter them for further tests.
After acquiring the bloodlines of the Heavenly beasts, there was no spirit root that Alex had that was less than Superior. Still, even in the superior stage, there were some that were still better than the rest.
His Water root was what he now believed to be the weakest, followed by his Wood root. His Earth root was slightly better than those two, with his Fire root clearly the strongest of the four.
Above them, Alex had the Yin root. While this root of his had to be in the Supreme grade, because of his body, it was pushed a step below by the extreme Yang he had, making it what Alex wanted to call a Semi-Supreme grade.
It was still better than the four other roots, but not as good as what a Supreme grade root had to be.
Finally, there were Alex’s two Supreme roots. Metal and Yang. If he had to say which one was better of the two, Alex could only make the argument that it was his Yang root.
Once Alex internalized the fact that this particular combination of spirit roots was his baseline, he moved on to the first actual test of a long list of tests he was going to perform throughout the next few decades.
