Chapter 3589: Alex’s Answer
The Wine God and the Beast God had told on Alex. They had alerted the Storm God to the fact that he had gained the power of a Half-God.
Alex would’ve considered this a form of betrayal if he hadn’t known just how absurdly strong the Storm God was in comparison to the other two gods. His mere presence may have forced them to reveal the truth.
Even if not them, there were many who would be very much willing to speak the truth. One didn’t even have to know about it to tell him after all. One could merely allude to the fact that everyone felt a similar way around Alex that they felt around the Storm God.
With hundreds of thousands of years of experience under his belt, the Storm God could easily determine that Alex had likely gained a Half-God’s power. It was unlikely that he knew that for certain, at which point he might have gotten the two gods to tell the truth.
As such, Alex couldn’t blame any of them at all.
"That’s the truth, isn’t it?" the Storm God asked, staring at the two. "I very much didn’t want to believe it, but it is so obvious now. The mere fact that the two of you are sitting beside him makes it even more obvious. Were you trying to hide him from me?"
The Sky God felt a little helpless in that moment. There was no way she could try to argue against him as he had clearly seen through it all.
Still, she didn’t take away the aura that she was using to hide Alex.
"You are free to think what you want," the Sky God said. "That is not going to change our stance on the matter." free𝑤ebnovel.com
"Perhaps not. And you might even have gotten the upper hand today had it been any different," the Storm God said. "But a Half-God completely changes things. Even you can’t go against the rules your institution has set up, Newheaven."
The Sky God frowned, unable to say anything against him. He was very much correct.
"I don’t believe we are lacking any Half-Gods, so I can only assume that he is double-claiming someone else’s title. What are his elements?" the Storm God asked.
Neither of the women nor Alex said a single word. They simply remained silent, letting the man blab all by himself.
"You don’t plan on telling me?" the Storm God asked with a slight laugh to his voice. "That’s perfectly fine. Although, it does remind me of something I heard about a few years ago. You see, something had happened to Ashmaker. He had somehow become strong all of a sudden, and then became weak just a decade later. He asked a few of us for assistance in figuring out what might have happened to him, and if it had happened to any one of us before."
"Of course, I had no idea at the time, so I didn’t tell him anything. However..." a strange look appeared on the Storm God’s face. "I may have an answer for him now."
Even though no one said anything, the Storm God believed he had come across the truth.
"Fire or Yang, isn’t it? Those are your elements. Maybe even Fire and Yang." The man laughed a little as he spoke out those words. "It’s strange to think a mere Immortal could gain the power of a Half-God, but I suppose stranger things have happened in this world, and we still don’t fully understand what exactly it means for us to be a Half-God. So I shouldn’t be as surprised."
"Congratulations," the Sky God said with a hint of a smile. "You’ve found out the truth."
The Storm God shook his head. "I understand what you’re trying to do. You want me to question whether I am right or not, but it won’t work. As I said, the other gods already told me. That includes Soulmother telling me exactly the elements. I merely made a show of guessing it to see how you would respond to it. And honestly, I must commend you all on keeping your expressions in check. Had I not been made aware of it earlier, I may have even doubted myself."
Bladedance’s face shrunk a little. She did not like just how much the man had known about them before even coming here.
The Storm God then ignored both the Sky God and Bladedance and looked directly at Alex.
"I shall give you two options now. First, you can come with me. I can guarantee you that I won’t hurt you. You won’t suffer in any way, except be unable to cultivate a single day going forward. You will be hidden from the world, but in doing so, I will let you keep your Half-God status. The Fire God will never find you, so you can keep being a Half-God."
"The other option is that I won’t take you with me. Instead, I will let the Fire God learn of your location and he will come here immediately. And I do not have a doubt in my mind that he will kill you the moment he sees you."
"So, life or death, I leave the options in your hands."
The Storm God leaned back, leaving the decision to be entirely made by Alex.
Alex thought for an entire minute before speaking.
"A Half-God’s power comes from people knowing me. If you were to capture me, I would be forgotten to time. What power is there to be kept at that point?" he asked. "I am just allowing you to imprison me for no reason."
The Storm God raised an eyebrow. "Then do you wish to take the second option? It will lead to death."
Alex grinned slightly. "If you are so worried about the prophecies coming true, then I will trust in the fact that you won’t let me die. Will you, Storm God?"
The Storm God’s expression changed. "Is that what you choose?"
Alex shrugged. "I’ll take my chances. Tell the Fire God what you want. I shall wait for his arrival."
