Chapter 196: Chapter 111: Forbidden Spread of Holy Light! Lucia! I Didn’t Mean To
[Killed Vampire x3, Contribution Points +150!]
"..."
Su Xuan stared at the increase in Contribution Points that popped up in his vision, lost in thought for a moment.
The members of the Demon Race inside the castle were individually powerful, but their numbers were far lower than in other Demon Caves. ’It seems I’ll have to kill members of the Demon Race at level 50 or higher to get more Contribution Points.’
"Let’s keep moving!"
The group continued forward, preparing to cross the long corridor and head to other areas. But just as they were about to reach the end of the hallway...
"Wait! Something’s up!"
Suddenly, the group halted.
A pile of Adventurers’ corpses appeared in the middle of the path at the end of the corridor, lying quietly on the floor.
"Is this an area where another team fought?" Shen Jun scratched his head, guessing in confusion.
"I don’t think so. These Adventurers’ bodies aren’t from the same team," Su Xuan stated firmly. He was certain these dead Adventurers didn’t come from a single party.
They belonged to different teams, but strangely, all their bodies were gathered here.
"Wait, isn’t that Adventurer from the Lu Bo Guild?" Shen Siqi suddenly pointed to a Beastman with cat ears in the pile of corpses, exclaiming in surprise.
"Damn it! Don’t tell me something happened to Lu Bo!"
Shen Jun’s expression instantly darkened. Lu Bo’s Player rating was C-Level, and his Guild even had a Mage over level 50.
Furthermore, the two Players traveling with Lu Bo were from C+ Level Guilds, and their teams also had two Adventurers over level 50.
’If something happened to them...’
"This Adventurer seems to have been killed by a trap."
Su Xuan carefully examined the cat-eared Adventurer’s body and found multiple wounds where he had been impaled by sharp spikes. Such injuries were typically caused by falling into a mechanism like a spike trap.
The other Adventurers’ bodies showed similar wounds; they had all clearly died in traps.
What was confusing, however, was why all their bodies had been transported here together...
Before Su Xuan could sort out his thoughts, the wall ahead of them suddenly opened like a gaping maw, spitting out several more corpses.
"Holy shit! Why is the wall spitting out corpses?" Shen Jun exclaimed, staring in astonishment at the Adventurer’s body that had rolled to his feet.
Everyone’s gaze immediately focused on the wall that was ejecting the bodies, their expressions turning exceptionally grim. ’Could this castle be alive?’ they couldn’t help but wonder.
"The castle isn’t a living being. It’s a method the castle’s master uses to clear out the trash."
At that moment, the Mage Kaelin explained to the group, "Apparently, the master of this castle can’t stand having bodies strewn all over their home, so they’re gathered here. As for the six Vampires in the hallway earlier, they were likely working as cleaners or cooks in the castle."
"Oh, I see." Shen Jun scratched the back of his head, gaining a new understanding of the situation.
"Do you know a lot about Vampires?" Su Xuan asked Kaelin curiously.
"Not really," Kaelin said, shaking her head. "But there’s a Vampire in our Guild, and she knows a bit about the habits of Vampire nobility."
"Ohh."
Su Xuan nodded thoughtfully. ’So the Immortal Consort Guild has a Vampire member. That’s pretty rare.’
"Let’s keep moving. Let these Adventurers’ remains rest in peace here."
As Hong Lian spoke, a ball of Flame ignited in her palm, and she set the pile of corpses alight.
The group pressed on, moving much more cautiously now that they knew the castle was filled with traps.
After passing through several areas and successfully killing a dozen or so vampire thralls lurking in the darkness, they arrived in a strange room.
The room was filled with bookshelves, but strangely, there were no books on the shelves—only heads.
The grotesque scene made everyone’s face pale. They couldn’t understand the true purpose of this room.
Just then, Su Xuan’s gaze was drawn to a desiccated corpse.
It was the body of a woman. All the blood had been completely drained from her, leaving her shriveled as she lay silently in a rocking chair. In her hand, she clutched a square box inlaid with a striking, emerald-green gemstone.
Su Xuan tried to get information on the corpse and the box, but all that appeared before his eyes were question marks, offering no clues.
"Su Xuan, look! There’s a treasure chest!"
Suddenly, Shen Jun’s shout drew everyone’s attention.
To the right of the corpse, a glittering golden treasure chest was emitting an alluring glow.
"That’s obviously a trap!"
Shen Siqi shot her cousin a glare. ’He’s so unreliable.’
"Something isn’t right here. We should be careful," Su Xuan warned the group.
His eyes scanned the room, searching for any possible passageway, as this area was the only way forward for them. They had already thoroughly explored the areas they had passed through but hadn’t found any other paths.
’Is it over there?’
Su Xuan’s gaze fell on the wall behind the female corpse. There seemed to be a hidden doorway. Though it wasn’t obvious, there were signs of its existence.
But one thing was certain: some kind of trap had definitely been set around the female corpse. To reach the area ahead, they would first have to disarm the trap hidden near her.
"We have to find the trap hidden near the female corpse before we can move forward," Su Xuan reminded Shen Siqi and the others.
