Chapter 106: Chapter 29: Madam Elf, Please Behave Yourself! I’ll Persuade Them
’Strong Desire?’ Su Xuan gazed at Beiya Leila’s Status, lost in thought.
’Is it because of the effects of Strong Desire that Beiya Leila looks so unwell?’
’The effect of Strong Desire was likely triggered by the impending trial. She was terrified that if she was sent to the Dark Prison, she would never see her daughters again.’
"Mother! Don’t worry, we won’t let them lock you up in the Dark Prison!" Beiya Fuli and Beiya Flora said in unison. "Mother, let’s leave the Elf Race together! We can rent a house to start, and then when we’ve earned enough money, we’ll buy a home for the three of us!"
"I feel your love and concern so deeply, but some things are unavoidable."
A flash of sorrow crossed Beiya Leila’s eyes. As a Princess of the Elf Race, she knew all too well that if they chose to flee, the entire Elf Race would brand them as Traitors.
This was fundamentally different from Elves exiled for their crimes. Those Elves merely lost the protection of their people; she and her daughters, however, would be hunted by the Elf Race ceaselessly.
"Why? We can go to the Star Kingdom, or the Moon God Empire, or even the Beastman Kingdom! I refuse to believe there’s no place for us in this world!" Beiya Fuli’s fists clenched, her indignation palpable.
"Fuli..." Beiya Leila was moved by her daughter’s words, tears welling in her eyes.
She gently wiped the tears away with her fingers and forced a smile. Her voice was filled with resolve as she said, "Don’t you worry, my children. I will never leave you."
Su Xuan listened quietly from the side, wondering how he could help them.
’If Leila had truly given birth to Fuli and Flora without cause,’ he thought, ’couldn’t it be ruled that she hadn’t violated the laws of her race? The answer, however, wasn’t certain, as no one could prove whether it was true or false.’
This was precisely why the Elf Race was divided. Some believed she was innocent, while others insisted she had broken the rules of their race.
For ten thousand years, the Elf Race had reproduced solely through the Elf Mother Tree. For an Elf to suddenly give birth to two baby girls was something beyond their comprehension. Furthermore, marrying a member of a Foreign Race was strictly forbidden; they believed all Elves should be born from the Elf Mother Tree. Princess Beiya Leila’s status only made everything more complicated.
As for the Elf Queen’s judgment... Su Xuan had never met the Elf Queen, but he had learned from various texts that she was an absolutely just and wise ruler.
’He guessed the Elf Queen might be inclined to side with Beiya Leila, but making the verdict acceptable to the populace was a tricky matter. After all, defying the rules of an entire race for a single individual was a major headache, even for a Queen.’
’Besides, there was actually one solution.’
’He could let Beiya Leila live in his Guild. It was an independent territory where not even the Elf Queen could easily interfere.’
’That would put an end to any pursuit from the Elf Race, but it wasn’t the optimal solution.’
"President, would you please stay for dinner? There’s something I’d like to talk to you about." Beiya Leila invited him just as he was lost in thought.
"Yes, of course." Su Xuan nodded, accepting Beiya Leila’s invitation.
Due to Beiya Leila’s poor health, dinner was prepared by the two sisters, Fuli and Flora.
Elven cuisine was rather simple, consisting mainly of fruits and vegetables, so it wasn’t too difficult to prepare.
After dinner, Beiya Leila sent her daughters, Fuli and Flora, out to gather some fragrant herbs for a bath.
Meanwhile, Ivsha and the others had already left and returned to the Guild.
Leaving Su Xuan alone with Beiya Leila in the small wooden cabin.
"My apologies~ I haven’t been a very good host, since I’m not feeling well~" Beiya Leila said apologetically as she handed him a cup of fragrant green tea.
"Not at all. Your daughters’ cooking was delicious," Su Xuan replied with a faint smile, taking a small sip of his tea.
"About the trial in three days..." Beiya Leila’s beautiful eyes shimmered, seemingly filled with a profound tenderness. "I believe that even if the Elf Queen doesn’t punish me severely, I will likely be confined within the Elf Mother Tree for the good of our race."
"The Elf Mother Tree?" Su Xuan asked, a little confused.
"Yes. The Elf Mother Tree contains a world of its own, and the Elf Queen slumbers there," Beiya Leila explained. "It is a beautiful world, but if I am confined within it, I will hardly ever be able to see Fuli and Flora again..."
Su Xuan’s understanding of the Elf Mother Tree became clearer. An Elf confined within it would be personally supervised by the Elf Queen. While they would nominally be in service to the Queen, they would, in reality, lose their freedom.
To other Elves, this might be a supreme honor—the chance to serve the Elf Queen personally. For Beiya Leila, however, it was undoubtedly a cruel punishment. Unable to leave the Elf Mother Tree, she would never be able to see her daughters again.
"If there’s anything I can do to help, just let me know," Su Xuan replied succinctly.
"Hearing you say that puts my mind at ease, President~" Beiya Leila smiled, and suddenly, another sharp blade appeared in her hand. This time, it wasn’t a fruit knife, but a mysterious Rune Blade engraved with ancient patterns.
[Godslayer (Legendary): A runic weapon rumored to contain a sliver of Divine Power. A strike to an enemy’s heart is a guaranteed fatal blow!]
Su Xuan froze when he saw the Rune Blade in Beiya Leila’s hand.
Just then, Beiya Leila’s soft murmur reached his ears.
"I have no choice... They’re the ones trying to tear me away from my children~ Perhaps this is the only way~ All it takes is one strike..." As she spoke, Beiya Leila gently traced the flat of the Rune Blade with her fingertip.
Su Xuan could even see a cold glint, tinged with an Aura of Death, flash across the Rune Blade.
HISS—
Su Xuan took a deep breath, trying to calm her down. "Leila, you need to calm down! A single Legendary Weapon isn’t enough to kill the Elf Queen!"
"Kill the Elf Queen? I never thought of doing that," Beiya Leila said, looking at Su Xuan in confusion. She didn’t understand how he could have misunderstood her so completely.
Su Xuan was momentarily speechless. He realized he might have misunderstood Beiya Leila’s intentions.
Beiya Leila let out a soft chuckle. "You’re so concerned about us, President," she said gently. "Don’t worry, I wouldn’t do something I’m not absolutely sure of. However~"
She paused, her gaze falling back to the Rune Blade.
Her voice turned cold. "As long as the voices of opposition within the Elf Race disappear before the Queen awakens, we can be together forever. I’ve been meticulously planning this for nearly twenty years. All I have to do is make up my mind..."
Su Xuan watched her in silence, somewhat surprised.
’So her plan was to stage a coup within the Elf Race and silence her opponents for good.’
’It was an absolutely insane plan.’
’Although many Elves supported Beiya Leila, including powerful allies like Hong Lian, the Elf Race hadn’t experienced any real internal strife for nearly ten thousand years under the Elf Queen’s guidance—only minor squabbles at most.’
Beiya Leila’s plan was undoubtedly insane, and she knew it. The Kindness in her heart was intertwined with her deep love for her daughters, which was why she had hesitated for so long. But now, with the trial looming, her desire grew stronger and stronger, gradually overwhelming her Elven Kindness.
"Give me two days," Su Xuan said. "Killing isn’t the only way to make people shut up." ’He knew the Elf Race wouldn’t listen to a mere human, but what if he resorted to threats? The Elves probably still didn’t know that one of their own princesses was a Witch, did they?’
’One down, and the next one won’t be far behind!’
"P-President..."
Beiya Leila stared for a moment, a flash of surprise in her eyes, before a captivating smile spread across her face.
She moved gracefully toward Su Xuan, ready to give him a warm embrace.
Su Xuan’s first instinct was to back away, as Beiya Leila was still holding the Legendary Weapon. But before he could move, she had already pulled him into a tight embrace, burying his face in the pillowy softness of her milky-scented, snow-white bosom.
"Thank you so much, President~ I can feel your sincerity so clearly~" Beiya Leila said gently, happy tears spilling from her eyes.
’But,’ Su Xuan wanted to scream, ’I can’t breathe!’
’And another thing~’
’He finally understood where that milky fragrance was always coming from~’
’This Elf Mother... haven’t your children been weaned yet? How can you still be...’
COUGH, COUGH~ ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com
He tried to signal his distress, to let her know he was sinking into a milky-scented Abyss. However, Beiya Leila didn’t notice his discomfort and only hugged him tighter. Su Xuan felt his entire face sink into that soft, snow-white expanse.
After a long moment, she finally loosened her embrace, giving Su Xuan a chance to gasp for air.
He took a deep breath, feeling like he’d been brought back from the dead.
’What a milky-scented Hell!’
Haaah~
Su Xuan felt his nostrils were filled with the rich, milky scent, and he could even feel a hint of moisture on his face.
Just then, Beiya Leila reached out with her slender fingertips and gently cupped his cheeks.
She smiled gently, her voice like a spring breeze stroking a zither’s strings. "Then I’ll be counting on you, President~ If you can make the voices of opposition disappear without using force, that would be for the best~"
"My dear boy, if you succeed, I will give you your favorite reward~"
As her voice faded, a prompt suddenly appeared in Su Xuan’s vision.
