Chapter 503: Chapter 244: Selecting a Captain
"Thanks!"
Li Chang’an said calmly, then looked at the instructor.
The instructor nodded and announced, "From this day forward, Li Chang’an is the captain of your squad!"
Hearing the result, Sun Yang walked over with a grin and clapped Li Chang’an on the shoulder. "Li Chang’an, you totally deserve to be Captain! I’m impressed, man!"
Although Bai Lin was expressionless, he also nodded. "You’re strong. I have no objections."
Even though Shen Qiuyue had lost, she showed no dissatisfaction. Instead, her eyes held a trace of admiration. "Your strength truly is worthy of this position."
Han Ruoxi smiled at Li Chang’an and said, "I knew you could do it. Congratulations on becoming our Captain!"
"Thanks, everyone. I’ll do my best as Captain."
Li Chang’an gave a slight smile, looking at his new squad members. Inwardly, he felt perfectly calm.
「Time passed quickly.」
At the base, Li Chang’an and his teammates were gathered around a long table. They had just finished a day of training, and while all four looked a bit tired, the atmosphere was exceptionally relaxed.
The cafeteria was bustling with noise, and many members of other Combat Groups were also enjoying their dinner nearby.
"Man, the food’s great today!" Sun Yang said, his mouth full of food, his words muffled. He was still frantically grabbing more with his chopsticks. "Chang’an, don’t hold back! The food here is way better than what we usually get. Come on, eat up!"
Han Ruoxi chuckled, delicately picking up a slice of meat and placing it elegantly in her mouth. She nodded and said, "Sun Yang is right. You have to eat well to train well. Today’s training was intense, so we burned a lot of calories. It’s right to replenish our Energy!"
Shen Qiuyue ate quietly, her expression indifferent, but a trace of fatigue could be seen in her movements.
She always pushed herself to the limit during training, never slacking off.
Bai Lin was staring down at his tablet, picking at his food with his chopsticks while his eyes remained glued to the screen. "Today’s data looks good. Our squad’s overall performance has clearly improved since last time. Especially yours, Li Chang’an. Your performance was particularly outstanding."
"Stop looking at the data, Bai Lin!" Sun Yang said with a laugh, leaning over to pat his shoulder. "You’re so serious every day. You need to relax once in a while! Can’t you just enjoy life in the squad?"
Li Chang’an smiled faintly, popped a piece of food into his mouth, and said casually, "Actually, our squad is doing pretty well right now. We’re coordinating better and better. It’s just that the team doesn’t have an official name yet. It feels like something’s missing."
Han Ruoxi blinked, thought for a moment, and said, "That’s true. It feels a bit unofficial without a name. Why don’t we give ourselves one? We’ll be going on missions together from now on, so the squad needs a cool name!"
"Hey, that’s a great idea!" Sun Yang slammed his hand on the table, saying excitedly, "Let’s call ourselves the Invincible War God Squad! How about that? Badass, right?"
Shen Qiuyue shot him a cold glance and said irritably, "That’s so lame. It sounds like a name little kids would come up with while playing."
For once, Bai Lin actually put down his tablet. He pushed up his glasses and said seriously, "If we’re going to pick a name, it should be meaningful. We’re an elite squad of the Combat Group, and our mission is to hunt the Insect Race. How about the Insect Hunter Squad?"
"Insect Hunter?" Han Ruoxi repeated softly, then nodded. "That’s a good name. Simple, direct, and very symbolic."
Li Chang’an also felt the name was fitting. He nodded and said, "The Insect Hunter Squad does sound pretty good, and it suits our future missions."
"Alright, it’s settled then!" Sun Yang slapped the table and laughed. "The Insect Hunter Squad! We’ll wipe out the entire Insect Race, haha! That really gets my blood pumping!"
Bai Lin smiled faintly. "Then the Insect Hunter Squad it is."
Everyone started laughing, and the atmosphere instantly became much lighter.
After dinner, the four of them left the cafeteria together.
Over the next few days, the squad began to train in close coordination, practicing combat techniques and tactics. They learned each other’s strengths and weaknesses and gradually built up a certain rapport.
After several days of training, they slowly figured out how to best work together.
The next morning, the instructor came to them in person, holding a mission folder. He got straight to the point. "Insect Hunter Squad, congratulations. After these last few days of training, you’re finally ready to receive a mission."
Sun Yang’s eyes lit up as he asked excitedly, "What’s the mission, Instructor?"
The instructor opened the folder, his tone serious. "This is your first official mission. The target is an Insect Race nest on the alien Asteroid K47. This asteroid is located on the edge of the galaxy and serves as an outpost for the Insect Race’s invasion. Your mission is to infiltrate the asteroid, destroy their core facility, and eliminate as many of the Insect Race as possible!"
Shen Qiuyue frowned slightly. "That doesn’t sound simple."
The instructor nodded. "That’s right. The mission is indeed somewhat complex, but this is also a test for you as an elite squad. Over the next few days, you will need to continue to sync up and train to ensure a smooth mission."
Li Chang’an looked at the mission file in his hands and nodded lightly. "We will do our best to complete the mission."
Han Ruoxi asked, a little worried, "Instructor, how strong is the Insect Race? Will we have adequate equipment and support?"
The instructor said grimly, "The strength of the Insect Race is not to be underestimated. However, your primary objective is to destroy the nest, so avoid direct confrontation. As for equipment, the Combat Group has already prepared the most advanced combat gear for you, ensuring you can give it your all during the mission."
Sun Yang rubbed his hands together, saying excitedly, "So, this mission’s going to be quite a challenge! I like it!"
