Chapter 409: Chapter 401: Lamp of Wishes, Alive

After a 120-second wait, a message appeared before Shi Ming, detailing the infinite upgrade.

[Lamp of Wishes]

[Level: 10+]

[The Lamp of Wishes’s energy has been significantly increased. The Pure Starlight has allowed the Star Spirit dwelling within to replenish its lost power, so it no longer acts merely on instinct. The Star Spirit will now fulfill its final duty by granting your last three wishes to the best of its ability. Afterward, it will attain true freedom.]

[Communicate your wishes to it~]

[Note 1: The Lamp of Wishes is now capable of communication.]

[Note 2: If you make an absurd wish, it will refuse to grant it and will not automatically fulfill it in a twisted manner. Of course, if you insist, the wish can still be twisted. After all, you are its current owner; your command is absolute.]

[Note 3: The Lamp of Wishes’s power has been significantly increased. Aside from "immortality" and "more wishes," most previously common wishes can now be perfectly granted. This is especially true for the top five: wealth, women/men, power, enlargement...]

[...]

Shi Ming gazed at the brightly shining lamp.

From a contaminated artifact to a purified one, and now to a lamp in its prime, Shi Ming had already used it to make two wishes. After this infinite breakthrough, his single remaining wish had been replenished to three. However, these would be the last three times the lamp would ever fulfill its duty...

Shi Ming rubbed the Divine Lamp.

He was now ready to make his first wish.

...

...

...

He hadn’t even had a chance to state his wish. The moment he rubbed the lamp, the Lamp of Wishes began to glow, shining brighter than it ever had before!

The light was half pure white, half a deep, profound black.

Like liquid, the light spilled from the Lamp of Wishes. It floated in mid-air, quickly coalescing into a humanoid figure.

The creature’s form was a series of rising and falling curves, possessing distinctly feminine human features.

Her eyes shone like comets.

Her build was not much different from a human’s.

With every glance, her expression shifted, cycling through countless personas: mature, then innocent; ignorant, then wise; passionate, then seductive; evil, then good... A human with poor self-control would have their mind easily swayed just by watching her.

’Is this the Star Spirit? Or the Lamp God? Isn’t the Lamp God supposed to be a blue Will Smith? Why’d he get gender-swapped into a pale-skinned genie?’

’So this is what the Infinite Brain meant by ’capable of communication.’’

’It’s surprisingly direct.’

The Star Spirit floated in mid-air and looked down at Shi Ming.

From Shi Ming’s angle, however, all he could see was a field of snow-white starlight.

The Star Spirit shrank her form, covering her mouth as she giggled. Her laughter seemed to brighten the entire space.

Crisp-sounding golden bells were tied around her arms and ankles.

They chimed with a seductive clarity as she swayed.

"Little fella..."

She looked Shi Ming up and down.

"Big guy, so you’re my final master?"

Her voice was intentionally cutesy,

but sweet as honey.

"Hehehe, thank you so much for replenishing my dissipated energy. As a reward, I’ll do my utmost to grant your three wishes. And I mean *any* wish~"

She blinked.

Her eyes seemed to shimmer like pools of water.

She then blew a kiss to Shi Ming with her right hand.

After granting countless wishes for countless different humans, the pure Star Spirit inside the Lamp of Wishes had gained a wide range of experience. Although the Purifying Marrow had cleansed it of "distortion and pollution," the resulting changes to its mindset and personality could not be reversed.

Or perhaps, this was simply her original personality.

"Only three wishes?"

Shi Ming figured since they could communicate, he might as well try to negotiate and see if he could get more.

The Star Spirit burst out laughing.

"Even for you, it’s just three wishes~"

As she spoke, she glanced around.

The Captain’s Space they were in was a mess, piled high with the mountain-like corpses of black dragons and Abyss Lords, like a mountain of corpses in a sea of blood. The Star Spirit seemed slightly taken aback but showed no other emotion.

"Very well."

"Pure Star Spirit from the depths of the cosmos, my first wish is this: make the threat of the Unceasing Water disappear."

Shi Ming made his first wish.

It was a wish he had planned for a long time.

The Star Spirit seemed disappointed to hear such a wish.

She stroked her chin with her right hand, pondering for a long moment before shaking her head regretfully.

"Big guy~ That wish of yours can’t be granted~"

"Can’t be granted?"

The result was what Shi Ming had expected.

’It was unrealistic to expect the Lamp of Wishes to deal with the second-ranked Unceasing Water,’ he thought. ’But limits are meant to be tested. I need to slowly probe the Star Spirit’s abilities and see what kind of wishes she can grant to extract the maximum value.’

"That’s right. It cannot be granted."

The Star Spirit’s voice became hollow and pure.

It reminded Shi Ming of a fine-tuned AI assistant from his past life.

"A long time ago, I discovered that there was something extraordinary about this planet."

"The Creation Star Core and Unceasing Water that gestated on this planet possess power far beyond any other wondrous items I have ever seen. As per our agreement, big guy, you have three minutes to change your wish~"

"If you don’t change your wish, or if you insist on this one, I will attempt to grant it in a twisted manner."

"If you don’t have another wish you’d like to make, you can forfeit this one... but why would you want to do that? There are so many things the Lamp of Wishes can do~"

Shi Ming gleaned some information from the Star Spirit’s response. ’This planet is truly extraordinary. That must be why the Creation Star Core and Unceasing Water it produced are so much more powerful than other wondrous items. After its infinite upgrade, the Lamp of Wishes should theoretically be among the top-ranked artifacts, yet the Unceasing Water is still "far beyond" it. That proves just how high its power level is. And I only have three minutes to make a wish.’

Shi Ming quickly stated a new wish.

"Pure Star Spirit from the depths of the cosmos, my first wish is to obtain the means to eliminate the threat of the Unceasing Water."

’Making the threat disappear outright was clearly too difficult for the Lamp of Wishes to handle. But obtaining the *means* to eliminate the threat shouldn’t be as hard. This wish wouldn’t even require the lamp to act directly; it just had to provide a concrete method and information.’

The Star Spirit blinked her eyes again and again,

occasionally shooting Shi Ming a radiant, captivating glance.

She blinked for a full minute.

Just as Shi Ming was beginning to think this wish had also failed, the Star Spirit’s voice finally rang out again.

"Big guy,

"Your wish can be granted~"
