Chapter 407: Chapter 399: Return to the Grand Fortune and a Tally of All Gains
"Can a mere Legendary Tier human truly endure such loneliness?"
Starlight twinkled.
That lonely, distant voice spoke once more.
Legendary Tier was the common term for S-rank Awakened.
As described on the great stone stele, the realms of power below godhood were divided into Nirvana, Holy Hall, Legendary, and Awakened. Some unique races that had lived for countless years reached the Nirvana Tier, their foundations so profound that further breakthroughs were nearly impossible. They called themselves "New Gods" or "Pseudo-Gods," or were called such by others, but they still belonged to the Nirvana Tier.
"Of course he can."
"When I traveled there in the past, I personally heard a philosopher say something. When the heavens are about to bestow a great responsibility upon a person, they first temper their will with hardship, tire their muscles and bones with labor, and subject their body to hunger. This is to stir their heart, strengthen their resolve, and enable them to achieve what they were previously incapable of."
"This is necessary growth."
"What’s more, the giant scorpion has already vanished, and the Star Lamp seems to have exhausted its final energy and gone out completely. I can’t sense its presence at all. Returning to that space now would require an enormous price. It’s not that the price is unbearable, but it’s simply unnecessary. One year is the most rational time frame."
Upon hearing this, the hazy figure said no more.
She concealed herself among the stars once more and vanished. Soon after, another figure, draped in a gown of starlight, also disappeared. The space returned to its rightful silence.
It was as if no living being had ever come here.
One year was, indeed, a very short time.
According to the mysterious woman’s earlier speculation, Shi Ming would need two to three years to master the characters of the civilization. However, a visit in the interim, to offer necessary greetings and care, was appropriate.
...
...
...
After inspecting all the equipment and items aboard the *Nirvana* and gaining a basic understanding of this "Star-Cluster Class Drifting Ship," Shi Ming took only the Hibernation Pod containing the Black Gold Grand Commander. He then reverted from his Dark Star Race form to his original appearance, boarded the *Sun-Shooter*, and left the Olympus Sea Area.
’My personal storage space is limited.’
’Most of the treasures can stay here for now; it’s extremely safe. Once I’ve infinitely upgraded the *Great Fortune*, I can slowly move everything to the Great Fortune Captain’s Space.’
He also found what appeared to be the Grand Commander’s mechanical limbs in the collection room and brought them with him off the *Nirvana*.
「Extreme North, Zero-Degree Ice Sea.」
The *Great Fortune*, which had been anchored for a month, sailed out of the Light Cone World. The crew, who had spent a month rolling dice, no longer had to shake the Light Cone before doing anything. The scenery beyond the deck was no longer hazy, and the information delay had returned from over twenty hours to just two.
Shi Ming returned to the *Great Fortune*.
"The captain’s back!"
After a brief meeting, Shi Ming handed the Hibernation Pod to Lin Hai.
"Notify Black Gold and share the *Great Fortune*’s exact coordinates. Tell them this is their Grand Commander and that they should come pick her up immediately."
"Right away, Captain."
Lin Hai looked at the pod the captain had brought back. Inside, he saw a human without any limbs, and he couldn’t tell if she was even alive.
"Monitor her vital signs closely. Contact me if anything happens."
"Understood, Captain."
The Hibernation Pod had already been reactivated.
Waking from deep hibernation would take about three or four hours. It wasn’t too long, and Shi Ming planned to ask her if she understood the language of the Dark Star Race, or if she knew any other information or secrets about the *Nirvana*—or even the Unceasing Water.
After handing the Hibernation Pod over to his crew, Shi Ming returned to his captain’s quarters.
He finally had time to take stock of all his gains from the past few days.
First, the gains from phase one.
Killing the Nirvana-tier creature Quintetra had not only allowed Shi Ming to seize the numbered Nirvana skill "Bore," but had also yielded the following additional rewards:
1. The corpse of a Nirvana-tier creature, about half-eaten by the "Bore" ability.
It resembled a three-meter-long worm. Its Brain Domain was intact and could be used to upgrade the *Great Fortune*. Its heart was also complete and could be used to upgrade the *Sun-Shooter*. Its blood and mangled flesh could serve as future upgrade materials. Though it had only just entered the Nirvana Tier, its entire body was a treasure trove.
2. The Space-Time and Life Holy Hall Origins.
Before killing Quintetra, Shi Ming had pulled the undigested Holy Hall Origins of the Creation Celestial Pillar and the Candle Mirage from its stomach. With this, the Origins of all Seven Holy Halls now belonged to Shi Ming. There were no longer any Holy Hall Tier beasts in the Endless Ocean.
3. The newly created Wonder, "Miniature Wormhole."
This was another treasure Shi Ming had pulled from Quintetra’s stomach. It was a symbiotic Wonder created when the Space-Time Holy Hall Origin fused with Quintetra’s own power during its ascension. It could be used three times to teleport a target or oneself to an unknown Star Domain. It currently had all three charges and had never been used.
4. The Wonder found at the bottom of the lake, the "Crown of the Winter Night Aurora."
This was the Candle Mirage’s treasure. After its death, the Frozen Crown had fallen into the depths of the Air Lake. Auroral light still swirled within it. Whoever wore it would become the king of the Frozen World, and the creatures of the Land of Extreme Cold would treat the wearer as their most exalted friend.
Fortune, after all, favored the bold.
The rewards from phase one were already satisfying. As for phase two, Rui Liang of the Dark Star Race had essentially delivered a care package from countless light-years away, a testament to his "generosity." And the wealth of his legacy far surpassed that of Quintetra, the Active Wormhole.
1. One Star-Cluster Class Drifting Ship.
2. One Dark Star Race corpse, which still contained the origin of "Grief."
3. A damaged "Net."
4. The treasure "Starry Sky Specimen."
5. The treasure "Wanderer’s Atlas."
6. Rui Liang’s vast collection—the entire fortune amassed from his travels among the stars.
...
Shi Ming took a satisfied inventory of all his rewards. He couldn’t help but sigh. ’It’s true what they say: one big score can set you up for a year.’
His Infinite Brain scanned the Starry Sky Specimen and the Wanderer’s Atlas.
These were treasures Rui Liang had carried on his person. One was a round crystal ball, utterly dark within. The other was an ancient, yellowed book that appeared completely blank.
The Eye of Destiny had no charges left.
But the Infinite Brain could still gather a good amount of information.
Starry Sky Specimen
Level: 10
Description: Capture a Star Domain within the range of your Spiritual Power and store it as a specimen. Minimum range: 10 kilometers. Maximum range: 300,000 kilometers. Any space, Star Domain, or item stored within will naturally escape after three minutes if not actively contained.
Infinite Upgrade Requirements:
different types of celestial body specimens.
This short description sparked all sorts of ideas in Shi Ming’s mind. ’A maximum range of 300,000 kilometers... that’s one light-second. Could I use it as a prison? If my Spiritual Power were strong enough, could I use it to move an entire planet?’
He then turned his attention to the next treasure.
Wanderer’s Atlas
Level: 10
Description: Record coordinates during your travels. When the Wanderer’s Atlas is activated, your drifting ship will enter the Dark Cosmos and travel toward the target coordinates at an unimaginable speed.
Infinite Upgrade Requirements:
1x any treasure with traversal power, 3,000 grams of flesh and blood from a Nirvana-tier beast with traversal abilities.
