Chapter 76: Larp of the Century

The demon army must’ve had over a thousand soldiers, spread out through my forest. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

I spotted several commanders, but the one who led them sat on a beautiful white horse at the front.

"Holt!"

She shouted the moment she caught sight of me, causing the army to freeze where they stood.

Her long white hair looked as if someone had taken silver and woven it into fine strands. And the black horns that sat atop her head seemed to accentuate her already striking features.

In contrast to her hair, her armor was made from a dark metallic alloy that shone so brightly that my own reflection could be clearly seen in it.

’This is the same woman that I saved from the vampyric worm. Is she some kind of commander? Seems like it, but why would she bring an entire army here? I had hoped to develop a good relationship with the demons here, but from the looks of things, this won’t happen.’

Instinctively, I readied myself to fight at any moment.

The woman, on the other hand, hopped down from her horse and slowly approached me. Her expression was unreadable.

Even with an entire army here, the forest was ominously quiet, nothing but the clinking of her armor and longsword as she slowly walked towards me.

The moment she stopped in front of me, I raised my head slightly so I towered over her.

Even though her face showed no expression, her hands were trembling as she gripped the hilt of her sword.

Then, in one fluid movement, she drew her sword and planted it in the ground as she bowed down on one knee.

Simultaneously, the massive army behind her also began falling to their knees and bowing their heads.

What is happening?’

"Centuries ago, it is said that our ancestors once dined with demonic gods. To the rest of the world, these gods were grotesque, hideous beasts that came in many forms. But to the demon race, these gods were beautiful forces of nature and so a bond was formed between us. We lived together in harmony for millions of years where we formed a pact. The demons would work to spread the greatness of the gods by expanding our empire’s reach, and in return, the gods would protect our land."

Her voice carried with it a deep remorse as she held her head down in shame.

"We demons broke that pact by failing to expand our empire. We lost to the humans, the elves, and those otherworlders."

I couldn’t help but notice the way her face twisted in scorn and anger when she mentioned the so-called "Otherworlders." fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

"Yet still, even after our failure, you came to save us and restore our land, and even drove the monsters that tormented us for so long away."

Hold on...

"We are forever in your debt, demonic god Apex!"

Eh, what?!

They think I’m one of their gods!

Looking back, I can see how they came to that conclusion. What else would they make of a giant centipede monster that suddenly starts helping them?

They even know my name... Those kids I saved, yes, it’s got to be them. They’re the only ones I told to call me Apex.

So what now? What should I do?

From the way they spoke, they clearly hate players, whom they refer to as otherworlders.

Should I start LARPing and pretend I’m their god?

ApexLarper101 does have a nice ring to it.

Though LARPing was actually common in the game. It wasn’t uncommon for players to act out the roles the game gave them. Whether as a knight, or a lord or whatever else they get awakened as.

Alright, that’s what I’m gonna do.

But what would a god do in this situation?

Look at their needy eyes, they’re clearly expecting me to say something.

Dammit, what kind of god should I be? Should I go for the edge lord aura farmer or the whimsically fun type god?

...maybe both?

I ended up using all of my skill points for one skill, but it was worth it, I hoped.

When they saw that I hadn’t moved in over a minute, the army began to grow anxious.

Seeing this, I raised my upper body even higher so that my enormous form loomed over them before delivering the larp of the century.

"ARISE!"

My voice resonated deeply inside each of their minds.

Slowly, the demons began to raise their heads as they rose from their kneeling position.

The female knight also raised her head and began speaking.

"Let me introduce myself. I am the third princess, Cassandra De Diablos, of the Diablos royal family. These soldiers here are all my clan’s men, and some of them are from neighboring villages that have witnessed the greatness you showed by restoring our land."

Suddenly, a rather large man, holding a warhammer, stepped forward and stopped beside the young woman.

"We also carried a few gifts for you."

Gifts?

Suddenly, the army of soldiers parted to give way to even more soldiers, except these ones were carrying large basins filled with various fruits and meat.

"An offering to the god who saved our land."

Oh, sweet biomass!

Behind the ones carrying trays were even more soldiers pulling carts filled with food!

They emptied the food just in front of me until it formed a huge pile.

I could sense a few monsters greedily watching from the forest.

Shoo, you pests! You’re not getting any! Don’t even think about it!

"Ahem!" Just as they were done offloading the food, the princess cleared her throat and stepped forward. "There is also another matter we would like to discuss with you. It’s about the orcs."

...

Meanwhile, in the city of Asmura, the evening sun was setting in the sky as dozens of commuters made their way home for the day.

The city was as busy as ever, as shoulders brushed against one another in the rush, and a sea of head could be seen from high up in office buildings.

"Hold on to my hand tightly, okay, Lily?" a blond-haired girl said to the tiny Nymph who was holding her hand.

The Nymph looked no older than 10, and her eyes scanned the city with childlike wonder as they walked.

Seeing the girl’s amazed expression as she gawked at everyone that walked by, the young woman couldn’t help but smile warmly.

The two had spent the day shopping and were just now returning home.

They hurried to the train station, but by the time they got there, the train was already packed and ready to leave.

"Dammit, we missed it."

"Sorry."

Amelia looked down at the remorseful face of the girl that was holding her hand.

It was true that they were slowed down because Lily wanted to explore more of the city, but she didn’t care much. She was happy that the Lily enjoyed her day off after coming home exhausted from helping Liam in Vesperia.

Amelia smiled and patted the young Nymph on the head.

"It’s not your fault, cutie. Another one will be back soon." She assured her. "Want to grab something to eat while we wait?"

A wide smile appeared on the young Nymph’s face.

"Yes, please!"

Amelia chuckled and turned to leave, but immediately, her face bumped into something hard.

She rubbed her nose ehich was now glowing red and looked up to see what she had bumped into.

To her surprise, it was another person, a man that towered over her.

He looked as if he was over seven feet tall. The man stared at her blankly and feeling a little guilty she lowered her head and quickly apologized.

"Sorry,"

A bit embarrassed, she quickly tried to walk past him but just then, she felt something grab her arm.
