Chapter 1206: Chapter 41: Extraordinary Extinction

As more and more secrets are unearthed from the Devil’s mouth, the Ethereal Realm becomes increasingly clear in the eyes of the Order Bureau. Meanwhile, the once lifeless Scholars’ Hall is beginning to regain vitality under this new research project.

This vitality, however, always seems to have a feeling of desperate struggle.

One aging figure after another is busy at the workbench, all of them plugged with infusion tubes, some using additional mechanical aids, and many more seated in wheelchairs. If it weren’t for the functioning detectors, they would look as if they were dead.

These living fossils, nearly devoid of the will to live, have reignited their desire for knowledge under this chain of intelligence. Besides these ancient scholars, there are many different figures inside the Scholars’ Hall.

They are also a group of fervent scholars, but their style of dress makes it clear that they are not on the same path as the scholars of the Order Bureau. Moreover, in terms of their passion for knowledge, they are much more hysterical than those in the Scholars’ Hall.

The Order of Truth.

During the Journey to the Joyful Garden, Duwa from the Order of Truth brought information about the primal artifact, and his requested price was simple: a joint exploration by the Order of Truth and the Scholars’ Hall to reach the end of truth.

The Order Bureau agreed to this request. In the ensuing period, more and more Seekers passed the selection and arrived at the Scholars’ Hall to research alongside these elderly figures.

Amidst this bustle, Bologue saw Duwa’s figure, but he was completely immersed in his research and didn’t notice Bologue’s arrival.

Bologue didn’t greet Duwa. He continued to delve into the Scholars’ Hall, and in the most secretive laboratory, he found Mamo.

"Hey, Bologue."

Mamo noticed Bologue’s arrival and greeted him without lifting his head.

Bologue nodded lightly, scrutinizing the current Mamo.

During the Decline Disease event, to counteract the toxins’ invasion maximally, Mamo exerted his Secret Energy with all his might, like a layer of a filtering net, consuming a great amount of toxins, significantly reducing the impact of Decline Disease on the city.

This action saved countless people but couldn’t save himself. Under the violent Ether Exhaustion, he directly fell into a state of Ether depletion. Then a small amount of Decline Disease invaded his inner body, further destroying his already scarce vitality.

"Cough cough..."

Mamo coughed softly a few times, moving his steps hard and turned around. Bologue saw Mamo’s full appearance.

He is dying.

This thought emerged in Bologue’s mind.

Mamo’s muscles had shrunk drastically, and his silhouette was much more hunched over. His numb expression was somewhat twisted, as if enduring great pain. He had lost several teeth, and his eyes drooped, revealing a look of despondency and powerlessness.

As a founding member of the Order Bureau, Mamo had lived for an extended period... Few could reach his age, and he often marveled at this point, thankful for his Tier and the power of Secret Energy, enabling him to linger in Death God’s blind spot.

Infusion tubes covered his body, those transparent and flexible tubes crossed and intertwined intricately, finally leading to an interface with faint pulses.

Approaching him, Bologue smelled a stench of rot; his original body odor had become more pungent due to prolonged illness, emanating the scent of time and death.

"Are you okay?" Bologue felt he had asked a pointless question.

Mamo glanced at Bologue, too lazy to respond to Bologue’s banal words, "You’re not here to check on my health, are you? What’s up?"

Bologue felt a surge of incomprehensible emotions, brewed for a moment, then dismissed those sentiments and began to recount the intelligence he had gathered and his various conjectures.

Listening to Bologue’s account, Mamo remained silent. Bologue tried to capture his emotions, but that lifeless face was like a dead tree, showing no change.

After a long time, a hoarse voice broke the silence.

"Gate of Origin? The region initially overlapping with the Material Realm, source of Ether discharge?"

Mamo uttered a string of keywords and then smiled to himself.

"An interesting guess," Mamo said, "We have been urgently trying to contact the Mountain Clan, but they have always been reclusive, and there has been no reply so far."

"Could there already be a problem?" Bologue was somewhat anxious. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm

"What problem? Are you referring to the world overlap, complete Ether discharge, and the Material Realm beginning to ascend until it completely becomes an Extraordinary World?" Mamo asked.

Bologue nodded with difficulty. He often envisioned that scene: the arrival of the Extraordinary World, Ethereal Vortex Points evolving into terrifying disasters, tearing apart human civilization.

"Don’t worry about those." Mamo comforted.

"We should take action." Bologue had always possessed strong execution power.

Mamo glanced at Bologue, his dull eyes imbued with a hint of mockery, "Haven’t you realized yet?"

"As you said, in recent years, Ether concentration has increased so rapidly, the two worlds are attracting each other, entering the final acceleration phase, soon to collide into one another... So think again, Bologue, this place called the Gate of Origin, the region initially overlapping, what does it really qualify as?"

Without waiting for Bologue’s response, Mamo continued explaining, "Before the acceleration phase, it might indeed qualify as a gate, an Extraordinary gate in dimensional space, but now the Material Realm has been captured by the Ethereal Realm’s gravity, more and more Ether is being discharged into this world through various channels, even if we find the Gate of Origin, what of it?
