Chapter 56: A Past That Has Long Forgotten!
Dhruv was in the middle of thinking about the inevitable clash when Lucian’s voice echoed in his head.
[What is there to worry about, master... Do you not trust us? Me? You’re worrying too much about these pathetic little vermin. There is no need for all this hide and seek; we can face them directly this time...]
Hearing Lucian being this bold, Dhruv couldn’t understand how this little vampire was always this confident. No matter the situation, a smirk always found its way to his lips.
[....It’s not like the previous battle, where we were underpowered. No, we have a multitude of goblins to play with. A good formation, and they are done for. And I’m sure you can come with a formation in due time.]
Dhruv didn’t know whether to feel good or bad for the trust Lucian had in him.
’...well, he was right about our troops’ part at least...’
His mind turned back, remembering the number of monsters summoned. The gamble turned in his favor as well, giving him unique goblins to work with.
’But I’m not so sure about the formation...’
Of course, Dhruv could come up with a formation, but he wasn’t the incarnation of some ancient war commander. He had his limitations and understood that no amount of strategy could fully overcome the disparity that sheer absolute strength creates.
As Dhruv pondered some more, he realized one thing.
’Am I overestimating the strength of the hunters...’
He didn’t know whether it was good or bad to undermine his side and overstate his enemy constantly. Aside from preventing him from taking unnecessary risks, this habit had never caused any problems and thus persisted even after his death.
"Risk..."
A short whisper left his mouth as Dhruv glanced at the panel displaying the underground tunnel. The last scout was still alive, meaning the hunters were still in the cave formation. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
’Can we really win in a frontal battle?’
Scratching his chin, Dhruv wondered while remembering how the previous battle had gone.
He had only been comfortable taking that final part of the previous battle head-on because of the Dungeon’s passive ability.
The hunters had already lost their artifacts, which now fueled his own troops, not to mention the party members they had lost along the way.
’We still have those artifacts though...’
Being on edge, Dhruv once again turned his head, looking at the panel. Fortunately, the scout was alive, and the hunters were nowhere to be found.
Seeing them still not reach the last part, he couldn’t help but think, ’Are the first two times a fluke...’
Dhruv wanted to believe it was nothing more than a coincidence, but his instincts told him otherwise. Trusting the instincts that had kept him alive for so long, he began to devise a plan.
But before that, he began assessing their ability.
First of all, they have someone with the ability to choose the right path from the wrong one. If only I knew what criteria it uses...aside from that, they could determine the position of the monsters.
And judging by the quick deployment of the shield during their entrance... it was clear that they were veterans of this dungeon diving. frёeωebɳovel.com
’Sigh!! And what do I have?
A relatively large number of goblins.... The jungle that is five kilometers wide... hmm!! Even the jungle won’t be of any good when they know about the passive ability.’
The jungle could’ve been a game-changer for stalling and ambushing them, but they won’t be stupid enough to move through the jungle slowly.
As he pondered these things for a while, something became apparent to him.
’Tsk!! Do I have to fight right in front of the throne room...’
Having the ability to see the monster was a huge advantage for the hunters. Usually, they would use that ability to hunt monsters and collect as many resources as possible.
But now, because of the curse ability, they would be wary of any time that passed.
This meant that if they found a large number of monsters in their path, they would rather take a detour than fight that group and waste their precious time.
All this forced Dhruv and the group to have the battle right in front of the entrance.
Dhruv was wondering about the repercussions of fighting them in front of the gate when something changed right outside the corner of his vision.
Glitching, the panel blinked for a few seconds before disappearing entirely.
Sigh!!
Taking a deep breath, Dhruv connected with Lucian and ordered, [Move everyone to the dungeon entrance. We will have our battle there.]

"Why is the jungle soo quiet? Where are all the monsters?" Running through the jungle like a cheetah, Vael turned to look at Sera.
"Don’t know, but we are on the right path... maybe because of the recent fight, there isn’t any monster left... well, good for us, I guess..."
Sera explained her little happy theory, but Vael had seen enough to take it as truth.
"No, that can’t be... keep the ability open and look for any sign..."
’Just where are you...’ Keeping his mana sense on high alert, Vael moved through the jungle for a few minutes before coming to a dead stop.
The heavens have answered his call, and the monsters were standing right in front of him like an impenetrable wall.
Rows upon rows of goblins stretched, blocking their path ahead. Their crude weapons pointed in their direction, while the hundreds of milky white eyes peered into their souls.
Vael tried to count how many were there, but something else caught his attention. These weren’t all of them; some were circling around the vicinity, trying to surround them from all sides.
"Be carefu—" Vael was about to warn them about the monsters that were hiding when his gaze landed on a strange creature.
The creature seemed out of place, like a diamond in the midst of the pebbles.
Squinting his eyes, Vael tried confirming whatever he saw was the truth or an illusion conjured to make him go mad.
But to his horror, it was true.
Sitting on top of a behemoth was a strange humanoid creature. He had no business existing within the dungeon alongside these savage monsters, yet here he was. Riding one like he owns the place.
’A human...’
Vael’s eyes widened in shock, his feet moving a few steps back on their own. His mind turned blank for a second as he remembered the horror that had ensued when the last human-controlled dungeon had appeared.
