Chapter 61: Step 61 to Greatness: When A Stranger Comes Without Knocking (Day 5 Settlement)
The group’s curricular activities continued for a while. So much so that Adrian forgot all about the settlement rewards.
It wasn’t until Mika and Amika were tired and he stepped out of the room to sleep in another room that he noticed the waiting notification.

[Congratulations. You have ranked in the top 50 global players!]
[Reward: Celestial Chest x1 has been added to your inventory.]
Adrian looked surprised at the last two notifications. It was the first time he had seen those two specific notifications and didn’t even bother checking his rank.
Instead, he just dove into his inventory to see a large chest with a purple aura around it. He wanted to open it, but then got another notification, telling him to empty his inventory first, as it did not have enough space to open the chest.
He tried to take the chest out and open it then, but the system restricted that action as well.
Strange. I can’t take this chest out, and all its materials must be deposited in the inventory first?
He saw his filled-up inventory and shook his head. It would take a long time for him to arrange things, and there was no saying how many slots opening the chest would take.
"Hannah mentioned something about storage crystals. I should ask her more about it in the morning." freewёbnoνel.com
With that, he turned his focus back to the settlement rewards. Only to remember that those rewards would also be deposited into his inventory as well.
In the end, he walked outside to the smokehouse and dropped all the boar-related loot into it.
He would have chopped them up and put them on the racks, but there weren’t enough racks, nor did he have the time or strength to do it.
Besides, he wasn’t worried about the meat, as the stuff he dropped could still be preserved in his inventory for 100 hours once he put them back in his inventory.
"Let’s just collect the rewards, use and arrange that stuff, then stuff the boar meat back in the inventory and... sleep," Adrian sighed, thinking it was better to check the rewards in the morning from then on.

Ha! Building the pond was the right choice.
Because of the pond, he got multiple fish cages. It was a shame that they weren’t in card form, or else he could have just combined them into an epic-grade cage.
Other than that, he knew why they got another spear-based weapon. The spear he had gotten before had been used and worn. Given how frequently they were fighting beasts now, it was only a matter of time before he got more weapons.
"This, on the other hand... I don’t think I did anything that would make the settlement system gift me a charcoal pit."
Naturally, a charcoal pit was a technique-based structure used to turn wood into charcoal instead of ash. The only thing was that Adrian didn’t need it.
After all, they already had a firepit that burned without fuel, and charcoal was essentially fuel.
"Hm... It’s not like charcoal is only used as fuel," Adrian mumbled, blaming his shortsightedness.
Off the top of his head, he could think of two uses for it. First was in metalworking, which he didn’t need at the moment since they were still using bone or stone tools. The second was for the filtration of water.
There was one more use: trading.
Just because he had a self-sustaining firepit, it didn’t mean everyone else had one as well. He could sell them charcoal to establish a monopoly over it. Then he would do the same with salt once Sera had finished making her air-dried pots.
Aquaculture pages would once again help him take care of the fish properly. Nothing else worth mentioning about it.
"Bow mastery is good too! If we had mastered the bow, we could have taken down most of those wolves before they broke down the fence. Not to mention, it would come in handy during the boar hunt as well."
Once again, these pages will find their home with Mika. Instead of teaching everyone to use a spear, some variation would help them tremendously.
"Nice. I got a blueprint to make more curing racks! Time to fill this place up with racks then... no, I’ll wait till sunrise before chopping wood—wait a second... what is this thing?"
His eyes fell on the inventory expansion cards. Unlike the cards before, these did not have a grade or a colored border. They didn’t have a detailed engraving either, just a plus sign in the middle of it.

Adrian forgot about the boar meat he had kept in the smokehouse and rushed towards the crafting table. The cards in his hands were too precious, and he wanted to learn how to craft them.
He was about to head inside when he noticed something by the pond. He frowned and walked closer, only to get shocked all over.
A woman was sitting there, with her legs in water. It wouldn’t have been odd if not for what she looked like.
She had a translucent purple body as if she was made of some jelly. The same jelly as he had seen on the slimes. It wasn’t just that. Long threads of gold flowed inside her body like veins.
"What the hell is that..."
It looked like a woman, but also a slime. But that wasn’t what Adrian was worried about. A strange entity had entered their settlement, and the tower didn’t even issue a warning like it was supposed to.
"It’s not just the tower... where’s Freki and Huginn!?"
