Chapter 88: Creating the Lightning Skill
The following morning, Ren and Elara traveled to the Aether Organization together.
Like yesterday, Virelia was absent.
She had a concert in the neighboring town, so she could not train with them.
At 03:00 pm, Ren and Elara went to Sylvie’s coffee shop.
There was an open space with a shady tree behind the shop, so Veronica decided to use it as a place for the lesson.
While Veronica was teaching Ren and Alice about magic, Elara was helping Sylvie serve customers.
She was a shifter, so she didn’t join them.
"Alice, do you have any questions?" Veronica asked.
"No, teacher," Alice replied.
Veronica took out two books from her space ring and placed them on the table. "Then read them. They contain important information about the crystal element."
"Alright." Alice immediately started reading.
Veronica turned to Ren. "Ren, what kind of skills are you planning to create?"
"For now, I have three techniques in mind: Lightning Claws, Lightning Movement, and Lightning Roar." He began explaining his concepts.
Lightning Claws was a skill that infused lightning into his claws.
Blue lightning would dance on his arms, and when his claws struck the enemy’s body, it would seep through the wounds and strike their internal organs directly.
Lightning Movement was a skill to help him move faster.
As for Lightning Roar, it was a technique where he added lightning to his roar. This way, he could attack his enemy both in soul and body at the same time.
"It’s an amazing concept, but extremely difficult to create, especially the Lightning Roar," Veronica commented. "Let’s start with the Lightning Claws first. It’s the easiest among them."
"Alright." Ren agreed immediately.
"You know magic is controlled by formation, right?" Veronica said.
"Yes." Ren nodded.
She raised her right index finger and continued, "So, the first step is to learn about your beast form and the lightning element. After that, we will try to create a formation where lightning and your beast form can work together."
She told him that it was the hardest part since magic and innate abilities were like two incompatible energies.
"Do you have the Tiger Beast Shifter Handbook?" she asked.
"I do." He took out the guidebook he got from his organization.
"Great!" Veronica placed thirty Lightning Magic codices on the table. "You read them, and I will study your beast form."
"Alright." He didn’t complain one bit.
Two hours later, Veronica created a formation based on her understanding.
"Ren, try this." She showed him the magic circle.
He paid attention to it carefully before finally shifting into his partial transformation. "Alright."
Alice stopped studying and turned to him.
Once he activated the formation in his mind, blue lightning enveloped his arms. His lips curled into a smile as happiness swelled within him.
"Teacher, the forma-Hiii!" before he had finished his swords, the lightning attacked him, forcing him to grit his teeth in pain.
He breathed heavily as he returned to his original form.
"Are you alright, Ren?" Veronica approached him.
"I’m fine." It hurt him, but not to the point of injuring him. "It seems like the lightning sees me as its enemy. Hehe."
"Hehe." Veronica giggled softly.
"Teacher, I think it’s because of this symbol." He pointed his right index finger at one of the symbols. "It makes the lightning reject me instead of responding to my control."
"I think so too." She agreed.
"How about we replace it with this one?" He grabbed one of the handbooks and showed her the symbol.
"We need to change a few things if we want to use it," she replied. "Let me redo it."
Several minutes later, she created another formation.
But when he tried it, the result was the same.
The lightning attacked him again!
Of course, the duo didn’t give up.
They kept combining the symbols, looking for one that would make the lightning obey him instead of attacking.
Without realizing it, it was already 06:00 pm.
Since she could only teach him for three hours a day, she and Alice headed home.
----
Time went by quickly and without realizing it, it had been four months since Veronica had become his teacher.
During these four months, many things happened.
First, Ren’s group completed five missions and earned $9,000. Second, Lily and the others found out that he was trying to create his own skills with Veronica’s help.
They were also shocked when they met Alice. Even though they had once been on opposing sides, they still treated her well, as if nothing had happened.
Third, they made social media accounts and started following each other.
Fourth, Veronica accepted Alice as her disciple because she was deeply impressed by Alice’s diligence and her unwavering determination.
Fifth, their bond had gotten closer to the point that they dared to tease one another. Sixth, Ren’s group had birthday parties in famous restaurants.
And lastly, his progress in creating his skill had gone much further than before.
Of course, he still hadn’t managed to fully create it, as creating a skill was not as easy as turning his hand.
But even so, he was still satisfied since the lightning no longer attacked him.
"Ren, try this." Veronica handed him the new formation.
Veronica and the others were currently in the backyard of Sylvie’s coffee shop. They liked the place very much, so they always studied there.
"Alright." He shifted into his partial transformation and approached the massive wooden dummy.
’I hope it works.’
Once blue lightning enveloped his arms, he attacked the target.
*Crack...
Pieces of wood flew into the air.
He quickly returned to his original form and observed the dummy.
"How is it?" Veronica asked as she approached him.
"The lightning only increased the destruction but didn’t spread inside the dummy." He didn’t see any damage in it.
"Hmm?" she touched her chin as she paid attention to it carefully. "Just where does it fall short?"
They returned to the table.
She tried to create another formation while he read a lightning magic book.
"How is the progress?" Sylvie walked toward them carrying a tray of snacks and lemon juice.
Ren turned to her and answered, "We are already on the final step."
Sylvie put the tray down. "You guys are amazing! Worthy of the title of geniuses!"
"I didn’t help much," Ren replied. "All of this is thanks to teacher Veronica."
"The person I introduced to you is amazing, right?" Sylvie praised Veronica.
"Yes." Ren turned to Veronica. "Teacher, you are powerful and smart. Why didn’t you join the Nexus Organization?"
Veronica nearly choked on her juice at his question.
"I like freedom." She made an excuse.
"I see." He believed her right away.
Sylvie almost could not stop herself from giggling when she saw Veronica’s surprised expression.
’She is a bad teacher!"
She wanted to tease Veronica, but changed her mind.
"Ren, why did you choose the Aether Organization over the Nexus?" Veronica asked. "Was it because of your little lover?"
"Yes," he gave an honest answer. "I’ve promised to protect her forever, so I want to always stay by her side."
"What a romantic man!" Sylvie smiled.
"She is lucky to have a boyfriend like you, Ren." Veronica believed many women would be jealous of Elara.
Not only was he handsome, but he was also kind and a special awakener.
It was extremely hard to find someone like him, as he was like an angel who had descended from the highest heaven.
"No. I’m the one who is lucky." He shook his head.
"Oh?! I didn’t know she was so special to you." Veronica covered her mouth in shock.
At the same time, Elara and Alice approached them. She showed no reaction because she didn’t hear their conversation. frёewebηovel.cѳm
Sylvie turned to Elara and said, "Elara, Ren said you are special to him. He also told us he is lucky to know you."
Elara stopped her footsteps and widened her eyes in shock.
In the next second, her face turned red like a tomato.
’He...he was saying that?’
She shyly shifted her gaze to him.
"Mrs. Sylvie, you are a bad landlord!" Ren stated.
Sylvie giggled. "I was just telling her what you said to us."
"Look! Elara is happy to hear that." Veronica joined in.
After Elara and Alice sat on the chairs, they continued chatting.
At 06:00 pm, Alice and Veronica decided to go home.
"See you in three days." Veronica only taught him from Monday to Friday, so he would not meet them tomorrow.
"See you." Veronica smiled as she waved goodbye.
After they left, Ren and Elara went home.
As usual, they walked hand in hand.
After he took her to her room, he headed to his own bedroom and slept.
----
The following morning, Ren and Elara traveled to the Aether Organization after breakfast. To their surprise, they saw David playing the guitar and singing confidently.
Even though his voice was ordinary, both Elara and Virelia listened with smiles on their faces.
When David noticed Ren and Elara, he stopped playing and greeted them. "You two finally arrived!"
"Did you buy a guitar?" Ren asked as he approached David.
"Yes," David answered. "How is my voice? Good, right?"
"Not bad," Ren replied.
David told both Ren and Elara to sit in front of him. "Alright, my audience. I’m going to sing a romantic song next."
He acted as if he were a singer in his own live concert.
Twenty minutes later, they trained together.
At 10:00 pm, Ren stopped and read Lightning Book.
His skill wasn’t fully perfected yet, so he needed to study the lightning element more.
’I hope I can find a way to perfect my skill.’
