Chapter 72: Chapter 72: The Negative Effects of Explosions

"There’s nothing much to say about this restroom; the bomb you are looking for is not here either. You might as well use the opportunity to relieve yourself and experience a hemorrhage of epic proportions, in a figurative sense. You still have six minutes, so get moving."

Gazing at the door of the restroom and evaluating the overall structure, Bai Wu gave up searching the area.

He could hear the Evil Fallen outside seemingly running around.

After a brief analysis, Bai Wu figured that Dwarf must have woken up as well.

His emotional fluctuations had roused these obliviously ignorant Evil Fallen.

"It seems my guess was correct. Not limited to death by the explosion, as long as it happens within this scene, everything restarts with the end of the explosion."

"Now, the most likely scenario is that these Evil Fallen, after 700 years of mutual slaughter, have a shared enemy in us. And as human beings, we are the more delectable food, so in the many rounds to come, they will try to find a way to eat both me and Dwarf."

Having understood the situation, Bai Wu waited inside the restroom for two minutes. He guessed that Wu Jiu might still be confused about the current situation, but explaining everything would only take a minute.

And it would take some time for the monsters to concentrate and head towards the area where Wu Jiu was.

Therefore, in this round, within the span of six minutes, Bai Wu only planned to do one thing: make contact with Wu Jiu.

"With my current strength, trying to reach the purple region is simply a fool’s dream, but with Dwarf here, at least we can keep the Evil Fallen at bay, which temporarily weakens the influence of the purple region."

One person to strategize, the other to take action, that was their team planning arrangement.

When the third minute arrived, Bai Wu once again heard the plane’s loudspeaker:

"Ladies and gentlemen, our flight is experiencing significant turbulence due to air currents along our flight path. Please remain seated and fasten your seatbelts. The restrooms will be temporarily closed for use. Thank you for your cooperation." freewebnoveℓ.com

He pushed open the door and followed the direction of the Evil Fallen.

From a distance, he could see the captain fighting the Evil Fallen alone, looking confused, but some of the Level 5 mutant Evil Fallen were able to give him a tough time.

"It seems that even Dwarf has his hands full with these Level 5 Evil Fallen," Bai Wu conjectured, having not seen Wu Jiu in berserk mode.

Then he wondered what the scene would be like if it were Little Pitiful or Hong Yin fighting these Evil Fallen.

"Captain! I’m here!"

"Wait, don’t move."

The voice was ethereal, and within the narrow cabin, Wu Jiu’s figure could appear at any location.

Shortly after the voice fell, he repelled several strong Evil Fallen with a single slash and once again came before Bai Wu.

Bai Wu didn’t waste any time:

"You must have noticed, Captain, this is a Reincarnation area. Time loops from six minutes before the explosion to the explosion itself, and if we die in the meantime, we can come back to life because of the loop."

Bai Wu noticed that Wu Jiu’s watch reading was at 35. Over 75 was like a high-decibel horn challenging the Evil Fallen: "I’m right here."

If it exceeded 175, there was always the possibility of becoming one of the Evil Fallen.

"After one or two more experiences, Dwarf should be able to calm down, right?" Bai Wu guessed, continuing to explain: fɾēewebnσveℓ.com

"The temporal space in this area is chaotic, but more precisely, it’s the original timeline with an added loop. If we metaphorically consider the main timeline as a river and the loop as a paperclip, we are perpetually returning to the starting point inside the paperclip, but at the same time, we are moving forward in the river of the main timeline. Do you understand what I’m saying, Captain?"

Wu Jiu nodded:

"So even if you die, you’re not really dead?"

"Exactly. But as we experience the area, the two time rules operate independently; that is, if we waste a minute here, we are bound to return to a minute before in the plane, but for those inside the High Tower, they would actually have to wait an additional minute."

The Evil Fallen began to charge towards Wu Jiu.

Wu Jiu stepped back several paces and forced Bai Wu to the entrance of the cabin. This was a bottleneck where one man could hold off many.

He stood before the bottleneck and asked:

"Is there any way out?"

"Yes, we need to find the bomb hidden on the airplane and render it incapable of detonation, but this is just one of my guesses."

"How long will it take to find it?"

"It’s hard to say right now; in any case, this round... we’ll probably have to die again. Next round, Captain, as soon as you wake up, come and cover me."

"Understood. Don’t waste time."

Wu Jiu didn’t tell Bai Wu one thing; he was already trying hard to suppress his emotions.

But strangely, the watch’s numbers just wouldn’t go down.

In theory, the news Bai Wu brought should be good news, as at least they had enough time to investigate the secrets of this airplane.

At most... they would die once every six minutes, which was quite painful, but it hurt the most the first time, and after that, you gradually got used to it; after dying again and again, it felt like nothing.

So in theory, Wu Jiu felt he shouldn’t be so anxious.

But he just couldn’t suppress this emotion.

Fortunately, emotions also acted as a draw for firepower. With Wu Jiu around, Bai Wu was pretty much invisible, free to investigate the clues.

Two minutes left until the explosion.

Bai Wu suddenly thought, although they had encountered airflow, there had been no noticeable turbulence.

This meant that in the cockpit of the airplane, there must still be an Evil Fallen in control.

"Maybe I can try heading to the cockpit. Perhaps I could get some clues from the pilot."

Once he made up his mind, Bai Wu headed toward the cockpit. With Wu Jiu around, he was like a plain bun, and Wu Jiu was like a soup dumpling; although the plain bun was right in front of them, the Evil Fallen would still prefer to pounce on the soup dumpling.

He carefully reached the cockpit door, with only the last ten or so seconds before the explosion remaining.

The cabin door wasn’t locked, and as Bai Wu approached the cockpit, he saw the pilot and co-pilot, two Evil Fallen, one with a starfish head and the other with a sponge head, showing fierce expressions, steering the plane.

[Before they became what they were today, they had been to a red region, a sea area. Those who dove there turned into Evil Fallen, but before boarding the plane, they looked like regular humans.]

The information was limited, and another explosion was just a few seconds away, but Bai Wu had a bit of an idea.

"Maybe my previous approach was wrong... The key might not lie with the airplane but with the Evil Fallen on it."

Bai Wu was just guessing from the Hulk’s and the pilot’s cases that everyone on this plane seemed to have the potential to become an Evil Fallen.

Although people have turned into Evil Fallen repeatedly over 700 years of dying, maybe... the Evil Fallen on this plane hadn’t experienced much before becoming what they were.

"These passengers are special. They didn’t come together randomly, did they? Someone must have gathered them here..."

"But what’s the purpose?"

Bai Wu didn’t want to use the method of stacking up deaths to buy time; he had to come up with an answer in the shortest time possible.

[BooooM! The foolish explorer met his end once more. Will he, along with the one with the sharp eyes, find the answer next time?]

...

...

The plane exploded again, and Wu Jiu and Bai Wu woke up once more. This time, they were very close to each other, both in economy class seat three.

Bai Wu didn’t even need to ask for help; Wu Jiu rushed over directly.

The sense of security from following the boss lasted only a few seconds before Bai Wu suddenly noticed something strange...

The Captain’s watch numbers had changed to 45.

"That’s bad... The remarks mentioned before, that the Captain wouldn’t last many rounds. Could it be referring to the cumulative decrease of emotional threshold?"
