Chapter 630: Chapter 247: The Showdown That Burns Everything (10,000-Word Chapter)
"However, based on my knowledge of you, although you’ve mastered quite a bit of Source Power, facing Alpha, you should have no chance of winning. You couldn’t possibly have lasted until now, and I’ve sensed a familiar presence,"
The First Generation pinpointed the crux of the issue.
The battle not far off had not yet erupted, but it was on the brink, with Alpha and the crimson figure, like fencers seeking each other’s weak points.
Everyone held their breath due to the Space-Time Labyrinth’s brief disappearance.
Before the labyrinth could be reestablished, and with no barrier of time and space between them and Alpha, he could easily kill them all.
Not everyone felt trust towards the deep crimson figure; only a very few believed that he was a person who could always be trusted.
"Yes, I only planned to help you trap Jing Yi. We are but the fish that slipped through the net of the previous era. However, someone doesn’t think that way..."
The Ten of Spades’ reply made The First Generation focus on the essential point.
"Bai Yuan? What do you mean by saying your mind was enlisted by Bai Yuan?"
"Just as it sounds, in plain terms, I’ve been parasitized by Bai Yuan, by a Parasitic Heart Demon. The one holding off Alpha is Bai Yuan. He asked me to tell you something..."
But suddenly, the Ten of Spades found himself unable to speak the words.
Thinking that guy had already died, he felt an unprecedented sadness.
In fact, he had already come to terms with the other’s death, but oddly enough, because Bai Yuan’s earlier demise seemed so "ordinary," he had always felt that perhaps, this guy hadn’t died after all.
This thought faded with time.
Yet, upon truly meeting Bai Yuan, all the expectations for him were ignited.
That perfect man, burned like a firework, illuminating everyone’s vision.
But in the end, he burned out.
Stealing Alpha’s secret, infuriating the Great Demon King, breaking the Demon King’s once steady composure.
Ultimately, he incinerated his own Inner World... Such a death was sufficiently spectacular, and a death befitting of the name Bai Yuan.
And so, the Ten of Spades believed, this time... that guy had probably really died.
"What did he say..." The First Generation’s voice trembled.
"He said he enjoyed the deceits of this world, but repaying kindness was his final truth. He no longer owes you anything,"
The Ten of Spades laughed with self-mockery.
The First Generation’s eyes became distant. Suddenly, he felt like collapsing on the spot, not caring about the battle, wanting to return to the Ark, to hide somewhere in memory with Xiaoyugan, licking his wounds.
But that’s how heroes are: they feel sorrow, they feel rage, but they are not overwhelmed by their emotions.
"He has never... owed me anything,"
The First Generation’s eyes regained their spark, and his gaze turned towards the center of the battlefield.
"You’ve accepted it quite fast. After Bai Yuan comes Bai Wu, I cannot clearly say what Bai Wu’s current state is, I may not have heard the truth, but what is certain is that he has indeed become something akin to ’World Will’."
The First Generation was not unfamiliar with the concept of World Will, considering he himself was imprisoned by the World Will for seven hundred years.
Mentioning this, The First Generation could probably guess why the Ten of Spades was able to engage Alpha in attack and defense.
"The Will granted me extraordinary power, as if I’d transcended the realm of gods. But now... my body feels like it’s falling apart. Being able to speak with you is only because I’ve exerted a small part of the Will’s power. What comes next... that guy will endure a pain far greater than what I’ve suffered, by tens, if not hundreds of times,"
The Ten of Spades didn’t know what Wu Jiu had undergone, but he always looked down on humanity besides Bai Yuan.
This man, who was eternally trusted in the depths of Bai Wu’s heart, had in a sense never truly entered the eyes of the Golden Generation.
Yet it was this man... who continued to climb, with the body of a mortal, scaling one peak after another.
The First Generation said:
"It’s begun. The battlefield of our generation has ended, now it’s up to the new generation."
The Temporal Power surged continuously, the Space-Time Labyrinth repaired itself again; if they did not transfer the aftermath of the two’s battle to other dimensions, this city would probably not withstand the ensuing load.
...
...
It began.
Alpha’s body grew gigantic once more, at this moment, he finally released all his seals.
In front of High Tower, both Bai Wu and Wu Jiu had seen the most gigantic Twisted Hand; now Alpha’s entire body expanded to a corresponding size.
He appeared like a giant, his normally inverted red pupils turning completely black in this moment. The pitch-black light, like a sharp blade, aimed to pierce right through that tiny deep crimson figure.
This was not Alpha’s complete form but, more accurately, his "Beyond Complete Form," an Overload operation.
But facing this gaze, the response to Overload Form Alpha was a deep crimson slash!
The blade mark was silent and still, without any grandeur, but everything within the space seemed to pause.
Alpha suddenly amplified all his strength; he should have been overwhelming his opponent, yet it felt as if the initiative was in the hands of the other.
He had not even thrown a punch when he saw a grey-white domain instantly cover everything.
As if all things between heaven and earth had lost their color at that moment. And with the loss of color, they seemed to lose a certain characteristic as well.
Only the initiator of all this still had the deep crimson color.
Domain.
Besides himself, Bai Wu, and Jing Si, there was actually someone else who could master a domain!
Alpha was surprised by the opponent’s performance, but for the moment, he had not realized the peculiarity of this domain.
Not until he was ready to clash head-on with his opponent’s massive iron fist.
Alpha, whose body had become gigantic, swung like a meteorite descending, with an incredibly powerful punch carrying heat and Flame, capable of reducing anything that got close to ashes.
But even the high heat and Flame turned grey-white in the process.
Wu Jiu’s gaze was so serene. The path of the world-ending punch, its burning trajectory, was like flowing water in his eyes.
In that instant, as he locked eyes with Alpha, Alpha saw, it seemed no longer a deep crimson Evil Fallen, but the original High Tower Master.
"Sever, slash."
All matter that had become grey-white seemed to receive a command at that moment.
It was an absolute slashing will that ordered all beings.
The deep crimson figure, swimming upstream, swung his blade at the massive iron fist that kept descending!
That immortal body seemed to lose all its hardness at that moment!
Space, time, twist, immortality, all things...
They all received the command of the deep crimson king!
Sever and slash.
He swung his blade to sever.
And all things responded with shattering. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
Everything was so natural, as if the moment he drew his blade, wherever the blade pointed, everything would naturally respond with shattering!
The severing was like a will!
Alpha’s Divine Body—was severed. The iron fist, cut off at the wrist, rapidly transformed into a twisting mass, attempting to devour Wu Jiu, and at the point of severance, the palm regenerated at the speed of light.
But those twisting black mists trying to approach Wu Jiu were rapidly shredded by the dense slashes that could obscure the stars.
Alpha showed a look of admiration. What a powerful will to slash, a pure severing that could evolve into the antithesis of twist!
But Alpha felt no fear; he leaped towards the sky like a dragon taking flight.
The dense clouds began to shatter, Wu Jiu’s greatest strength, to everyone’s eyes, was his speed.
But Alpha’s speed was stronger than his.
He was a true Demon King, surpassing Jing Si in strength and domains, exceeding the peak-level Bai Yuan in mental realms.
In speed, the nearly space-ignoring Wu Jiu was also inferior to him.
In just the blink of an eye, he had reached tens of thousands of meters above in the sky, before the golden labyrinth had completely covered it. Looking down at the chaotic, bubble-like cloud layer, he took fierce breaths.
As if he wanted to suck the world into his lungs, then he crossed his hands in front of his head as if to defend against someone’s attack.
This was not a defense, but an unprecedented offense that Alpha was about to unleash.
During his fierce breathing, as if he were exhaling the world, all the mouths on the hands of immortality began to roar.
Countless tiny beads containing destructive energy appeared.
Those were beads of twisted energy compressed to an apex, and the surface of the apex shimmered with multicolored luster, no longer the pure black as before.
Ten, a hundred, three hundred, a thousand...
Alpha, who had broken through to the high altitude, was surrounded by countless apices.
He had even moved beyond the realm, and when Wu Jiu’s "Slash Realm" appeared in Alpha’s field of vision again, when the cloud layer beneath his feet also became shrouded in grey-white, the strongest monster had already gathered all destructive bullets.
Be it time, space, or along with the city of Denglin, and those humans, it’d be good if they all perished together.
He had always longed to capture The Pursuer and the owner of Temporal Return alive.
But now, Alpha was irritated, for in the future’s twisted world, there would surely arise others with the same powers.
Why must he always be so cautious, just for a perfect ending?
Indeed, he had been suppressing his own power, to prevent a terrifying force from destroying everything.
He was only two key pieces away from comprehending the laws of order.
Perhaps in the future, he might rein in the thing within him that he feared most deeply.
But all of this was predicated on the assumption that he would not be sealed away a second time.
The appearance of Bai Yuan and Wu Jiu, these two humans, had given Alpha a sense of crisis!
He didn’t want to experience imprisonment again, which had lasted for countless years. Even if the concept of time had become indifferent to him, influenced by the Reverse Dimension, he found that imprisonment unbearably lengthy.
So lengthy it seemed to be without end.
Thousands of marbles, each more terrifying than the annihilation point, suddenly plummeted downwards!
The first "marble" burst open. The expanding grey-white domain... came to an instant halt.
The expansion of the Slash Realm, forcibly intercepted by the vast Power of Twist.
But in the next moment, the crimson figure also rushed towards the heavens, unleashing endless slices like a volcanic eruption!
...
...
"How should we reward that guy? To be honest, you admire him more, don’t you? You do admire him more, right?"
Not long ago, when about to leave the fifth layer of Well World, and having activated the Return Roulette, Wu Jiu heard a strange conversation.
But he couldn’t locate the source of the voices. They seemed very distant.
"This is an extremely stubborn fellow. Should we grant him something more extreme? Like speed?"
"In the martial world, nothing is indestructible, only speed is unbeatable? Hmm... that’s not right, we need a vessel of will, a body strong enough. His heart can carry a world, but his flesh is nowhere near as strong as his spirit. Speed is meaningless for what he is about to face, the Twisted Master."
"Then let’s bestow upon him a body that can withstand destruction and claws sharp enough to sever Twists."
"Good idea, that’s settled then. After all, he is not Bai Wu; he cannot become the Will itself. His heart pushes him to break limits time and again, but maybe what can be broken was never really a limit."
The two voices alternated, Wu Jiu didn’t understand, but he felt as though a mysterious power was slowly emerging.
"He will ultimately be unable to defeat Alpha."
"Not necessarily, the next version of ’us’ will help him, and with his own enlightenment, he might create a miracle."
"Enlightenment? What kind of enlightenment would that be?"
...
...
The clouds became even more fragmented, and Wu Jiu, gazing at the sky filled with destructive "marbles" falling incessantly, could no longer remain calm.
On him, the original rune shackles had been unlocked several layers, but after returning from the fifth layer of Well World, they were repaired once again.
Or rather, he was bestowed with new "shackles," nine layers of them.
With each unlocked shackle, he would abandon something to gain power beyond the present.
It seemed like sacrificing fragments, but in reality, it was even more terrifying than those fragments.
The first annihilation point forcefully halted the expansion of the Slash Realm.
The second annihilation point, like a black lotus blooming, a terrifying force attempted to engulf the Slash Realm.
And the third annihilation point withstood the endless slices from Wu Jiu.
But what followed... there were thousands more with the same power as the annihilation point. They surged forward as if to turn the human world into purgatory.
[This is bad... he’s starting to destroy the world at all costs. You can’t withstand this attack.]
Time slowed down once again, "Bai Wu" had to communicate with Wu Jiu to make him understand that this attack was not a joke.
Facing Alpha, everyone was burning their bridges.
Indeed, this was the attitude that the weak should have when overcoming the strong, but Alpha was not a Proud creature simply waiting for its demise.
When he sensed danger, this powerful being also began to burn his bridges.
In an Overload Form, Alpha unleashed power tenfold or even a hundredfold greater than his opponent’s!
"I know, but I have no retreat."
Wu Jiu gathered momentum with his sword facing those "marbles" capable of destroying heaven and earth, and he didn’t show the slightest intention to retreat!
The first shackle quietly unlocked, those golden runes etched on his body, one by one, shattered.
The originally suppressed Slash Realm began to forcefully expand at this moment.
"You are the weapon bestowed upon me by Bai Wu, what can you achieve to what extent?"
As destruction approached, not a trace of fear could be found in the man’s eyes.
[I can do everything, but the cost of carrying the will is terrifying. You might...]
Before the words on the yellowed pages were completed, Wu Jiu had already responded.
The seventh, the eighth, the ninth, power twists more terrifying than the apex arrived,
The Slash Realm that had only expanded thanks to the unlocking of the first shackle was once again suppressed.
The power of twist burned like black flames in the sky, relentlessly closing in on Wu Jiu’s crimson silhouette.
"No matter what my end will be, no matter how much pain I will endure, if I can defeat the monster before me, then there is no need to think about the consequences!"
The second shackle, released.
The third shackle, released.
Wu Jiu’s eyes burst forth with white light, as if corresponding to those dark pupils, red lightning entwined around his crimson body!
His majesty became stronger than ever before!
Each shackle on the crimson body signified the abandoning of a part of his future, past, and even present.
In the fusion process of Crimson and Wu Jiu, the shackles appeared.
Each shackle signified the abandonment of the past, present, and future.
It was not just a closeness to death, but a rush toward a curse more terrifying than death itself.
To unlock each shackle meant transcendence of life, it meant he was progressing toward the most terrifying hell in the world!
This was a power that appeared only when one was prepared to sacrifice everything!
The grey-white Slash Realm expanded wildly, the turbulent clouds acting like a barrier, with Alpha and Wu Jiu on either end of it.
[What a madman, but in this battle, only a madman can win. Are you ready? Carrying forty percent of the Well World’s will.]
Thousands of twists capable of world annihilation waited for Wu Jiu to sever, and he could not respond to the yellowed pages, only to keep swinging his sword!
The crimson body began to blur, the blood within starting to boil!
In the gaps of a thousand world-annihilating apexes, Alpha and Wu Jiu’s gazes touched.
Alpha couldn’t believe that someone could forcibly endure his attacks, that damned Slash Realm, could actually expand against the current and pursue his figure above the clouds!
At this instant, he launched a mental assault.
There couldn’t possibly be a second Bai Yuan in this world, right?
He unconsciously flinched, actually, his attack had already forced his opponent to start burning his life, but seeing those eyes capable of cutting through everything, Alpha suddenly feared his attacks would not destroy his opponent.
So he began to employ mental attacks, the method he’d used when invading Bai Yuan’s Inner World.
In an instant, Alpha successfully entered the opponent’s Inner World.
He thought that by destroying the opponent’s core, he could disintegrate the man’s will.
But this time... he was wrong.
The strength of Bai Yuan lay in his understanding of the Inner World, his familiarity with human nature, control of situations, and powerful mental invasion capabilities.
But Bai Yuan was not the human with the strongest will.
Alpha believed Bai Yuan’s Inner World was the most rigorously defended bastion.
But once he entered the Inner World of the red figure before him... he realized it wasn’t so.
Everything in this world was so simple.
The core, emotions, people of thought... all like black statues, requiring only a glance to discern the meaning of these statues.
But he couldn’t destroy these statues, unlike Bai Yuan’s empty-hearted disguise, this person’s heart had no disguise at all.
The things he loved and hated were so straightforward, yet indestructible!
This not-so-vast Inner World was like a fortress of steel, impenetrable to anything.
This spiritual invasion and defense took place in the span of a single thought!
With just one thought, Alpha gave up the idea of destroying the Inner World of his opponent.
He was capable of it, but the heart of this Crimson monster was unwaveringly firm. Perhaps it was easier to destroy his physical body than to shatter his will.
Thus, the battle returned to its most primitive form of confrontation!
A dense rain of extremities fell chaotically, where originally only a handful of marbles compressed Wu Jiu’s Slash Realm, but now, the arrival of several dozen extremities spawned numerous cracks in it.
Within the grey-white domain, all things were regaining their natural colors.
It was as if on a grey-white canvas, cracks of yellow, blue, red, and green had appeared.
Alpha sensed it, that this Crimson figure was accumulating the power for a heaven-shattering strike!
The opponent was constantly approaching, bringing with him his despicable domain, step by step closing in.
But the gap in power between them was just too great, this "Rain of a Thousand Extremities" had scarcely begun to fall before it threatened to disintegrate the opponent’s domain.
But those eyes that seemed capable of slicing through everything gave the impression that the opponent wouldn’t just end like this.
Indeed, just when Alpha thought the extremities would annihilate the opponent, an intimidating force burst forth from the ground. A giant white column of light erupted, completely engulfing the Crimson figure.
The overwhelming force was incredibly vast, so close to that of distortion, it was so magnificent that Alpha felt it must not belong to this world!
"What in the world are you!"
He asked this question once again, as he had finally noticed.
From the Ace of Spades to the Crimson Evil Fallen before him, they always managed to unleash power that wasn’t their own.
They always created new rules in places where the rules did not permit them.
Within a domain already severed from everything by distortion, new powers would always erupt unbidden!
"Answer me! Just what are you, exactly!"
Alpha roared, his dark pupils brimming with rage.
But Wu Jiu gave no response.
His body was submerged in the white light; he was like a deity descending to the earth, untouchable even by distortion.
Wielding his blade, he shattered the extremities one by one, like stars that had bloomed and lost their light.
He was like the sovereign of the universe, continually felling stars!
On the ground tens of thousands of meters below, human sight could no longer discern the details of the battle... all they felt was as if above the clouds, an entire vast world was collapsing and disintegrating, while a new world was being born without end!
The extremities unleashed destructive power, capable of corroding even the most potent cut!
The Crimson figure turned a mottled red and black, but its master continued to climb the sky, pushing relentlessly against the current!
Without any words, he wouldn’t answer such a trite question as "Who am I."
All he had were relentless slashes, slash after slash after slash!
Over a hundred extremities were shattered! The increasingly exaggerated energy fluctuations blossomed in the sky.
The entire world might witness this spectacle! It was like the birth of a god, yet also like the funeral of a god!
Alpha finally began to panic, he started furiously unleashing his power! A thousand extremities were not enough to destroy the opponent, then he would use fifteen hundred, three thousand, ten thousand!
He let go of all reservations, even if power depletion meant falling into slumber, it was better than being sealed here.
The fourth restraint, unlocked.
The already battered body instantly recovered, and Wu Jiu, bathed in white light, soared ever higher!
But Alpha’s extremities were growing even denser.
The fifth restraint unlocked!
Wu Jiu roared as if his soul were being torn apart:
"Is this really all you’ve got? I still need more power! Fifty percent, sixty percent would do!"
The Well World’s Will was activated at forty percent, allowing Wu Jiu to surge upwards continuously, yet he was still at a disadvantage against Alpha’s onslaught.
The yellowed pages of the book seemed to ooze fear:
[Unleashing internal restraints, enhancing the external will’s carrying capacity, whether it’s within or without, you’re burning yourself out. I fear you will burn too quickly.]
Every time the words emerged, time would seem to slow, as if giving the vessel a chance to breathe or change its decision.
Wu Jiu chose not to breathe; instead, he suddenly asked an unrelated question.
"Bai Wu... is already dead, isn’t he?"
There were no words on the page to answer this question.
Wu Jiu’s body still maintained the posture of ascending in retrograde and slashing through the twist, but his thoughts had seemingly traversed an era.
"Then what about you, how long until you join me?"
In the center of Baichuan City, he remembered suddenly looking back and asking Bai Wu this question.
At that time, Bai Wu’s eyes unusually dodged, and his tone became vague.
He should have noticed all this earlier, and not slowly come to realization during the battle just now.
If Bai Wu really had some weapon, he would naturally have given it to him personally.
If Bai Wu were still alive, he would surely have faced this battle in person.
[Well, you’ve discovered it.]
The yellowed pages of the book once again displayed words, and in Wu Jiu’s eyes, fury and sorrow raged like a tsunami.
"Unlock the sixth shackle!"
His roar burst forth in the high skies, tens of thousands of meters above, gradually spreading, echoing through the countless spaces beneath, in that city.
Insanity surged in those pale eyes. Alpha had never seen such a gaze before.
As if in the next moment, this crimson monster would break through all barriers with that white light and come to slay him!
The apex of destruction kept growing, and the body he had reclaimed was continuously being overdrawed.
But his immortal trait made it impossible for him to destroy himself.
Alpha began to bet recklessly, betting that the opponent would destroy himself before he did.
He was well aware that the other party was using powers that did not belong to him. fгeewebnovёl.com
Under the vault of the sky, the Ten of Spades looked up at the chaos that the sky had become.
Enduring only a miniscule amount of the will, he was already in unbearable pain. What kind of agony was Wu Jiu enduring at this moment?
So there were still humans like this after our era...
Countless apices shot toward Wu Jiu, like a swarm of meteors.
But Wu Jiu seemed like a monster in the universe devouring planets! Each of his slashes was relentless, filled with the sorrow and rage of a desperate fight to the death against his enemies.
By this point in the battle, no other force governed by rules could infiltrate it.
Wu Jiu and Alpha were like two beasts trapped in the most primitive environment, having to rely on brute force to destroy each other.
Endless destruction bloomed upon Wu Jiu, and the terrifying intent to slash finally pierced through the stars... and arrived in front of Alpha!
Alpha finally saw those angry eyes up close.
For the first time, someone plunged a sharp long knife into his gargantuan twisted hand, running up from the wrist, while the mouths howling destruction apices wanted to construct barriers to block this invader.
But it was all too late.
The World Will loaded to seventy-five percent. Several successive twisted barriers were broken.
Out of necessity, Alpha began using his immortal divine body itself as a shield.
His body began to deform, bones previously wrapped in flesh broke through to the surface.
Black veins, like the tentacles of snakes or octopi, densely entwined around the bones.
This time... Wu Jiu’s advance was finally blocked.
The most powerful defense of an immortal being is the immortal body itself.
One after another, the bones on Alpha’s giant twisted arm, coiling like dragons, blocked Wu Jiu’s path.
[The structure of high-dimensional civilizations is very special. Break open that black pupil, and I will grant you the power to extricate its soul from its body.]
The gray-white Slash Realm collided with the star-like apices.
Unable to break the defense with the absolute rule of slashing, Wu Jiu could only break the immortal with his physical body!
His figure began to flicker, as if about to evaporate into a mere shadow amid the light.
The red light was dazzling as he kept swinging his blade.
The horrific slashes actually caused Alpha’s bone wall to fracture, and those black veins were being heavily cut by Wu Jiu’s powerful slashes.
Even the Seven Sins weapon had developed cracks, proof of the terror of his slashes.
But it still wasn’t enough.
The eighth shackle unlocked amidst constant cleaving.
The savage slashes grew stronger with each strike, like a cage trapping Wu Jiu with skeletons possessing astonishing regenerative power...
Yet at this moment, Wu Jiu’s speed seemed to break through the limit.
Simply unlocking the shackles, his strength should not have escalated to such a terrifying extent.
But as he unlocked the shackles, in his heart, he demanded the World Will of the Well World to further increase its carrying capacity!
He was borrowing the power of the World Will of the Well World, fully aware that as a human, he had already reached his limit, and contending with Alpha was wishful thinking.
But merely as a vessel for will, he had long been prepared to shatter like jade.
Just as with every departure from the High Tower with Bai Wu, no matter what kind of cataclysm lay ahead, he was bound to charge to the forefront!
The huge shadow of the blade fell, and finally, under the strike that Wu Jiu delivered with resolute determination, carrying eighty-five percent of the World Will, a path unfolded that momentarily halted the self-healing of immortality.
The intense intention to cleave briefly suppressed Alpha’s immortal regeneration.
Wu Jiu’s entire figure began to blur, signifying that his body could not withstand the power to come.
Just as the fish’s body back then couldn’t bear the terror of spiritual power.
What Wu Jiu now endured was far more vast than that spiritual power.
The crimson tide cut through all obstacles! He finally moved from one end of the immense hand of immortality to the other, like an inexhaustible Karmic Fire, racing towards Alpha’s black pupils!
"I need more powerful strength!"
He couldn’t see the text on the page, for his body seemed to begin dissipating.
Just like Qian Yixin, bit by bit turning to ash.
But he was clear that to pierce those black eyes, he needed even more formidable strength. Even if the power of the World Will of the Well World was already overloading him, he needed to amplify his power again.
It was like a man engulfed in flames, charging toward the one he sought to destroy.
He didn’t know whether he would burn the other person first, or be consumed by the intense fire first.
But he had only one choice.
If this world had only one person willing to be a hero, he would be it! If someone could disperse disaster with their death, he would die!
"The... ninth... shackle, unlock!"
The difficult and tragic voice carried a realization that transcended life and death.
He had already forsaken too much of his past, now, and future. Now, he was sacrificing everything.
The World Will seemed to respond to that realization.
The formerly dispersing body miraculously solidified at this moment. It was as if the body was reinforced again to carry more will.
The World Will of the Well World could bring power that looked down on all beings to the bearer, yet like poisoned wine, it could bring immense strain to the body, potentially resulting in total annihilation of body and soul like what happened to Qian Yixin.
But Wu Jiu didn’t care about the consequences. Facing Alpha and his thousands of soldiers, all he could do was boldly drink all the potent liquor!
The Seven Sins-level blade had already broken from the frenzied waving not long ago.
But that didn’t matter, he still had his body, he was the Crimson Evil Fallen, an assassin with blades!
Using his elbow’s blade as a sword, he rammed into the massive black pupil.
Alpha knew he wouldn’t die, but he could see the intent behind the other’s action!
He finally began to fear, because that grand array... had started to move.
Thousands of meters below, the monk looked at Hong Yin.
"I should leave."
Hong Yin, while stroking the White Deer lying beside her:
"Will we see each other again?"
"Perhaps one day, if someone finds a way to completely expel the Twist, I will return to this world? But I’m not sure, after all, if there were no Twist, I should have passed away thousands of years ago."
Hong Yin nodded:
"My brother might be able to save you."
"Your brother? He and his comrades are saving all of us."
In the end, she and the monk both looked up at the sky.
In the sky, mere moments ago was nothing but chaos and star clusters potent enough to end entire worlds, constantly eroding the ashen-white domain.
Yet the master of these stars was also undergoing the greatest crisis since he had left the High Tower.
Brilliant, dazzling golden light shot out from the base of the Array, piercing through layers of time and space, targeting Alpha high above.
That terrifying yet familiar force finally made its way in front of Alpha.
There wasn’t much time left for Alpha. His massive black pupils continuously released illusions and unleashed mental invasions.
Alpha wanted to stop this crimson beast. If he could just stop it, he might escape the spell of the Array.
But now, he couldn’t destroy it in the real world. He could only try once again to erode it on a spiritual level.
He had tried this before, only to come back in vain because he couldn’t destroy its Inner World, which was too formidable.
But he knew that humans become fragile in the moments before death.
In the instant of death, many things of value change for humans; survival instincts lead to many alterations.
Some people, once they have faced death and survived, seem to become completely different afterward.
But he was wrong again...
Because in this world there are those who, the closer they get to death, the more resolute and fearless they become!
Mental attacks, physical attacks, domain attacks... all proved futile.
The crimson elbow blade crossed the final expanse! It pierced through the black pupil.
Crack... fissures began to spread across the black pupil, emitting the sound of shattering, like the gates of an Otherworld being thrown open!
On the other side of the black pupil, Wu Jiu saw a vast shadow.
The cracks on the black pupil rapidly healed, but Wu Jiu always managed to inflict new fractures before they fully mended.
And the fractures... created a tremendous suction.
Wu Jiu knew this was Alpha’s Soul, for in the multi-dimensional civilization, the Soul is a tangible thing.
What he had to do now was to keep tearing open the black pupils, allowing that power to pull the Soul out.
This wasn’t difficult for him; his specialty was cutting, brandishing his blade to sever all.
But he had no more chains to break; he was nearly burnt to ashes himself.
What kept him in action was nothing but his heart of steel and his Will.
But Will can’t bring someone back from the dead.
Finally, his strength was spent, and he could no longer stand steady.
In his last moments of sight, Wu Jiu couldn’t see anything, the whole world fading bit by bit into darkness.
In the end, he closed his eyes for good, falling from the tens of thousands of meters in the sky.
The moment his eyes shut, the sounds of the Annihilation Apex explosion, Alpha’s anguish scream, the fracture sound of Slash Realm cutting through all... vanished.
The entire world became unprecedentedly quiet, with only the cold and solitude remaining.
"Is this the fall into death?"
He didn’t know whether his efforts would allow him to meet Bai Wu with a clear conscience after death.
He suddenly became afraid.
This man who feared neither heaven nor earth, who had driven the Great Demon King to the brink from tens of thousands of meters up in the sky, was now afraid for this moment.
He was afraid his death would have no meaning.
Afraid he had not fulfilled his duty to protect everyone, afraid that Alpha was still alive, and the world had no one willing to fight like him, to burn everything to the end.
He really wished he could burn a little longer, have a tenth shackles, an eleventh...
In the darkening field of view, the page that should have disappeared appeared once more.
[In the realm of death, you won’t see me, Captain, you’ve done well enough. You are a true hero, and heroes shouldn’t die with fear and regret.]
Heroes shouldn’t die with fear and regret, for they should neither harbor fear and regret, nor should they die.
Amidst the endless fall, a resplendent column of light surged upwards once more.
If Wu Jiu could open his eyes, he would realize that the previous eight shackles had indeed been completely unlocked, as if he’d made a pact with the devil, exhausting all his chips.
But that ninth shackle, it had never been opened.
