Chapter 423: Chapter 40: The Savior Comes
Tang Jing fell.
He lay there as if he had died, no longer making any movement.
Any person whose body was pierced in so many places had no chance of survival.
Yet the way this man had protected the girl until the very end commanded respect from the onlooking Seal Card Group members.
The flowing, viscous liquid-like monster’s flesh slowly covered Tang Jing. Perhaps it was turning Tang Jing’s body into some sort of nourishment.
This scene was witnessed by all the members of the Seal Card Group, knowing that they would be the next to die. Soon, they might also become like those hideous heads, appearing on the surface of the giant monster’s body.
But their initial fear was gone.
"This man from Sheng Country... he did good!"
The Seal Card Group members, led by Jack McPhonore, were all boiling with blood.
They wouldn’t risk their lives to join in the battle which was simply out of their reach.
Because the power gap was too large,
but at least they now had the courage to not flinch in the upcoming battle.
Onlookers in the distance couldn’t see this scene, and their emotions were a rollercoaster.
Seeing the fighter jets bomb the monster, hope surged within them; but after observing for a while and watching several jets get pierced and crash by white lines...
People fell back into despair again, as the monster suffered no damage at all, as if the human attacks were merely children’s soap bubbles to it.
They were all reminded of scenes from apocalyptic movies, like the descent of the God Warriors, destroying the world within seven days.
It was as if witnessing a revelation, where humanity tried to preserve their last dignity only to realize that not just dignity, but even survival was a luxury.
Hearts Q, feeling the great fear and despair emanating from the capital city of Aulora, Manse, was delighted.
"Despair in fear, tremble, and transform!"
"I am the strongest entity in this world! Spades Q, only those who wield power are truly mighty! I will show Dad that I have the potential to surpass the K-rank!"
Countless Corruption Worms spat out from the heads on the surface of the monster’s body, and the next second, the members of the Seal Card Group began to face peril.
All of them possessed some level of Innate Force, and many had Sequence, but against this huge monster, they had no chance of fighting back, only able to flee ceaselessly!
"Hahahaha! Ants! Become my nourishment! You shall witness the coming of the new world!"
The monster’s roars, coming from many mouths with various human voices, sent chills down the spine.
This scene also made some of the fleeing pedestrians truly feel the terror of the apocalypse.
Throughout this process, the huge white Corruption Worms continuously drove the members of the Card Sealing Group into desperate straits.
Hearts Q knew these ants were not worth his attention, but he enjoyed the process of the hunt, especially seeing those with supernatural powers die, which would gradually shatter the sense of security of those without powers.
The spikes, brimming with terrorizing destructive power, finally left the members of the Card Sealing Group with no way out.
In another city, Zhao watched this scene, his fists clenched tightly.
On the battlefield, Jack McPhonore, the ace of the Card Sealing Group, finally could run no more.
He looked at the relentless white Corruption Worms in pursuit and knew he was doomed.
So with his hand, he drew a Z across his chest, this atheist in his daily life, in his last moment... only hoped God would keep his family safe.
After completing this gesture, Jack McPhonore’s eyes were resolute; he cursed in Meinan, refusing to retreat any further, instead charging at the Corruption Worm!
The sensation of death closed in bit by bit, and Jack McPhonore awaited its arrival, wishing only to die in a charge, not in retreat.
He even closed his eyes... waiting for his body to be pierced.
But just at that moment, the ground suddenly started to shake. The giant monster let out a roar.
The numerous heads seemed to be wailing in immense agony.
Jack McPhonore opened his eyes, his back soaked with cold sweat.
The grotesque tail of the giant Corruption Worm, as if emblazoned with a human face, was ready to pierce his head.
But after that tremendous shaking... it stopped.
"What... what’s happening?" Jack McPhonore couldn’t understand and began to look around.
It was as if time had suddenly stopped, or like the gigantic monster had been abandoned by time...
This moment bewildered both Jack McPhonore and the other members of the Card Sealing Group.
Countless Corruption Worms were all halted midair, suddenly frozen in place.
The process did not last long; all the Corruption Worms suddenly started moving again, scaring the people into retreating repeatedly! fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
But they soon realized... the Corruption Worms had turned direction, all converging towards one spot!
Some members of the Card Sealing Group with quick reactions immediately thought of something, and those with exceptional vision even saw the truth.
"You... you all look! That beam of light!"
All eyes turned to one place, a straight beam of pure white light shot straight into the sky, actually piercing through the body of that giant monster!
This beam was so fine, as if someone had shot up into the sky at incredible speed.
Soon everyone noticed that there was a huge depression in the ground, that must have been the source of the vibration just now.
The figure in the high sky was too far away for anyone to see clearly, but every member of the Seal Card Group knew... that was where Tang Jing had been swallowed.
"Could it be that that kid..." Jack McPhonore couldn’t believe it.
Many members of the Card Sealing Group, as well as Zhao who was far away in another city, also couldn’t believe it.
But at that moment, their hearts were all beating fast! They all waited to confirm a possibility.
The scene had happened too quickly, even the Red Heart Q hadn’t reacted in time.
The body pierced through was quickly filled in by flowing rotten flesh, he subconsciously controlled all the heads to look up to try and catch the figure in the sky... the end of that beam of white light.
But it was no use, by the time he realized this action... it was already a bit too late.
All the heads embedded on the surface of the monster’s body started to look up, but before the movement was complete—
Another beam of light, like an arrow of light from the heavens above, shot down at an angle! It pierced through the monster right where its heart should be!
This time... the figure, like a person made of lightning, paused for an even shorter time.
The body of the Red Heart Q couldn’t even repair the hole before a new one appeared.
A beam of light pierced through the monster’s eye socket, another beam pierced through the monster’s kidney! Yet another beam pierced through the monster’s ear...
This figure was moving so quickly it was beyond imagination, no one could catch a glimpse with their eyes!
He was just continuously increasing his speed! Speeding up! Speeding up!
And what appeared to everyone was like dozens of beams of light, constantly bouncing and refracting in some space!
The massive monster in the middle seemed as if it didn’t exist at all!
That powerful and terrifying body, which not even fighter jets could destroy, was easily penetrated by this beam of light as if it were a knife slicing through tofu.
It was very much like the scene where Tang Jing had been pierced by the white Corruption Worms before dragging Xu Ling out...
"It’s Tang Jing! It’s Tang Jing! He is Tang Jing!" a member of the Card Sealing Group shouted loudly.
The other members looked over and saw Xu Ling was right beside that member of the Card Sealing Group.
"When did he... move Xu Ling to that spot? This speed... is he still human?" Jack McPhonore was amazed.
Tang Jing’s performance a short while ago, in his eyes, was like a god descending to earth.
But the monster was just too strong, even Tang Jing at that level still wasn’t able to compete with it!
But now it was different...
Jack McPhonore couldn’t imagine it, watching the dozens of indistinguishable sequential beams of light in the sky... his hands even began to tremble inexplicably.
That uncontrollable excitement even made this retired soldier lose his composure...
"It’s him... it really is him! So this kid... is that powerful!"
High above, the countless heads of the monster wailed in agony. Numerous white Corruption Worms, in their hardened state, tried futilely to capture that figure...
But it was too slow, far too slow!
In "Tang Jing’s" eyes, even without the need for Prayle’s Eye’s guidance, this person’s attacks couldn’t come close to hitting him!
Especially now that Prayle’s Eye was being particularly helpful, predicting all of the opponent’s movements with precision.
Zhao, who was far away in another city, stood up immediately, his butler Marcus and secretary Jiang Ling did the same...
"How’s that possible, could that light be..."
"It’s him! I really didn’t misjudge him!" Zhao exclaimed with excitement, even behind his mask.
Even without seeing Zhao’s expression, one could feel the excitement in the air.
However, Zhao quickly noticed something amiss.
Tang Jing should have known the monster’s weakness was in its head, the monster was just a vessel, a weapon being controlled, only by pulling the controller out of the head would work.
But Tang Jing’s attacks seemed to be deliberately avoiding the head? Why would that be?
Zhao didn’t stay surprised for long as he seemed to understand Tang Jing’s intentions and quickly realized he also had to take action:
"Don’t just stand there, go evacuate the crowds!" Zhao gave the order.
"What about this monster?"
"Of course, leave the monster to the hero!"
...
...
In the capital of Aulora, Manser City, on Pike Street.
The Queen of Hearts was furious!
Tens of thousands of attacks had completely failed to touch the opponent! What kind of speed was this?
Why did such a creature exist? Why, in a world just beginning to warp... was there a monster so fast?
"Stop! I will kill you! Kill you!"
Countless heads roared in unison.
But the figure, swift as light, didn’t stop, as if he could never tire, continuing to slam into the Decay Worm’s corrupted flesh.
Each penetration left a gap.
Compared to the monster’s huge body, the gaps were small, but because this person’s speed was so incredibly fast... the creation of gaps outpaced the speed of their repair.
Before long, the monster’s body was riddled with holes.
The members of the Card Sealing Group, who had received orders to evacuate the nearby crowds, felt the shock to the fullest...
This was a complete crush!
And those who had fled into the distance, they too experienced a new mental shock, but this time, it didn’t bring despair, it brought hope!
"Look! That monster is getting wrecked!" shouted a punk teenager.
"My God!! Have you finally heard our cries?" A believer made the sign of a cross over his chest.
A mother holding her child had tears in her eyes.
An anxious driver, incessantly honking, stepped out of the vehicle.
An old man, who had decided to hang himself not long ago, looked towards the distance and silently untied the rope.
They weren’t at the scene and could only watch the battle from afar; even as the monster was wounded, it was hard for them to perceive the changes in detail.
But now it was different, they heard the monster’s painful roars, saw its riddled body!
Some even used binoculars to catch sight of that light!
They couldn’t understand what that light was, but as people spread the word, a notion gradually spread amongst the crowd—
The Savior.
This was the real Book of Revelation, when human beings were unable to give up hope amidst disaster, the Savior finally arrived.
With overwhelming power that the monster couldn’t resist, it defined Divine Revelation and Justice with an absolute crushing force!
Terrible beams left no part of the massive monster intact!
Those horrifying Decay Worms were shattered bit by bit!
In a chamber of flesh and blood, the Queen of Hearts raged:
"Impossible! Impossible! This must be an illusion! This is the masterpiece I’ve prepared for a year! The aggregate of numerous potential Evil Fallen! When they come together, they should be unbeatable!"
The Queen of Hearts couldn’t fathom how the ultimate horror he had laid out—for this world, a disaster that should be absolutely irresistible—had, within a few short minutes of its appearance, been completely suppressed!
His train of thought wasn’t wrong.
For the current phase of the twisted world, this monster was indeed beyond their scope.
It could truly be described as a harbinger of disaster. Even within the mist, this monster’s ferocity was enough to stand on its own.
But he had overlooked one crucial point...
If that ship could come out of the Hei Wu, why couldn’t there be other existences from inside the Hei Wu?
The light didn’t speak... but incessantly pierced the monster’s body, letting everyone feel that hope.
Every new gap in the monster’s body... made that hope a bit stronger!
His intent was so clear that even the Queen of Hearts caught on.
But the Queen of Hearts was helpless!
As the master of a massive monster, a fusion of countless Evil Fallen, he could feel its craving for fear, for despair.
Not long ago... before that damned existence of light appeared... he had reveled in the despair and horror filling the city.
It felt like igniting the city’s fear; this would have been the starting point to accelerate the spread of the distortion, soon to be complete.
He even saw his father’s approving face, and the jealous expressions from the other three Queens!
But at this moment... he felt that despair rapidly disappearing.
"No... Don’t! You should be afraid of me! Afraid of me!"
To deliberately create such an ugly monster, even as the one who represented the most charming of the Hearts, in order to accelerate the spread of the distortion, he had made his greatest effort and sacrifice!
But at this moment, he seemed like a miser watching his wealth being plundered, yet powerless to stop it!
"Give it back to me! Give me back your fear! I am to surpass K! Give me back your fear!! Return! It! To! Me!"
The Queen of Hearts screamed, having lost all reason. Gone was any trace of her previous composure.
The same cry of "Give it back to me" was starkly different from Tang Jing’s earlier anguished shout.
Tang Jing was a warrior who, in desperation, single-handedly kept his promise.
Whereas the Queen of Hearts was the embodiment of impotent rage.
More and more people ceased to be afraid, watching a savior appear, crushing the monster with an overwhelming force, their hearts not filled with fear but boiling with excitement.
The descent of a miracle bestowed upon the people faith.
And faith was the hardest thing to hold onto in the apocalypse!
At this very moment, what that beam of light did was akin to what a certain masked strange person had done seven hundred years ago!
Finally... this enormous body, with too many breaches, could no longer maintain its original form...
It was like a skyscraper whose foundation pillars had been removed, collapsing under the pressure.
The thunderous collapse of the monster brought unanimous cheers from everyone!
The city, which had been shrouded in fear just a short while ago, was no longer in the least bit afraid.
The gigantic head in the sky finally fell to the ground.
The figure, radiating light, stopped in his tracks and revealed his true face.
Just as everyone had guessed, he was Tang Jing.
"Tang Jing" took step by step towards the fallen "chamber."
Without surprise, he dragged out the Queen of Hearts, her face a mix of astonishment and madness, from the chamber.
Tang Jing held the Queen of Hearts by the neck, just like the Queen of Hearts had held Xu Ling not long ago.
Because Bai Wu had appeared, the roles of weak and strong had reversed, and everything had turned upside down.
As "Tang Jing" pondered what to do with this person, a strikingly handsome man suddenly appeared before "Tang Jing’s" eyes.
The real Tang Jing suddenly felt a strange aura, very odd.
This unfamiliar yet breathtakingly beautiful man exuded an indescribable charm... Tang Jing even subconsciously felt the surroundings getting brighter.
However, no one else, including the choked Queen of Hearts, seemed to notice this man...
Controlling Tang Jing’s body, Bai Wu’s disgust was also conveyed to Tang Jing, leaving him confused about the relationship between the two.
"A fine toy, killing him directly would be just, but it seems a bit of a waste. How about trapping him first?"
"What are you going to do?"
Tang Jing realized that the master hadn’t spoken aloud, it was just a thought, and yet this man could hear?
Was he one of the master’s personalities?
"That Queen of Hearts Six, the psychic Evil Fallen, I could teach her some methods to establish an interesting interaction with this Queen of Hearts."
Interesting interaction?
These words somehow sent chills down Tang Jing’s spine, though the man appeared as pleasant as a breath of spring.
"That works too."
The real Queen of Hearts was not powerful because coming to the world outside the Mist before its expansion came with a high price.
Just as Xu Ling had said before, coming outside meant starting from zero.
Therefore, the Queen of Hearts herself had no power to fight back against Bai Wu at the moment, and to trigger an explosion, she could only use the "Fusion" method.
If it weren’t for "Tang Jing," she might have successfully created a monster that humanity at this stage couldn’t defeat.
But in this world, there are no what-ifs.
"Tang Jing" didn’t hesitate for long and quickly responded:
"That works, but before you make him your toy, you had better extract some valuable intelligence from him."
"I already said I’ve retired. This job of saving the world, all of us old Ks from the last era are out of the picture. I just want to play a bit."
Tang Jing couldn’t understand this conversation.
The master then said:
"Then there’s nothing to discuss, killing him now is better than letting you toy with him."
The mysterious man seemed to have only rejected symbolically at first, then immediately changed his tune:
"Fine, fine, I’ll agree with you this once. Hearing him talk about surpassing K, I, as an old hand from the farm, really want to reminisce with him."
