Well was engulfed by a towering fury, refusing to cut the price for what had not yet arrived within those three hundred odd seconds.
White Mist was about to welcome the greatest challenge in this long journey through the Mechanism City.
Well felt a surge of killing intent and anger, as if he was very close to finding something in this world that resonated with his own energy. In an instant, the entire city market was engulfed, but when Well looked at the Palace God Mech, it hadn’t moved an inch.
He decided then it was time to decouple from this place, to unleash one of its controls.
This energy was indeed Well, the main character.
At the same time, he sensed a strong energy lock on himself, something unimaginable in terms of speed, as if it was nearly upon him.
White Mist’s eyes suddenly snapped open in some room.
Mechanism City, Inner City, South Market, Fire District.
...
...
To escape from the Palace God Mech as quickly as possible, that was what it wanted at this very moment. Zero would not tolerate these peculiarities of the child any longer.
"You could be beaten to death, it is very angry now, because of what happened to me," White Mist implied, having already understood White Remote’s unspoken hint.
Said White Remote suddenly, "Sacrifice—a name that bore a certain resemblance, found within the fragments from Zao Lake Village."
This word, sacrifice, that had appeared so often in these conversations, was brought to White Mist’s attention.
Sacrifice. "Merging isn’t simply an uninterrupted offering, but a force exchanged for a price. Where there’s no accumulated sacrifice, people couldn’t possibly become stronger. Chu Qing might also have some kind of adverse reaction, but will immediately dissolve once you merge. Your very essence is also a kind of gamble; better than your merger, since any force can be exchanged for a price," said White Remote suddenly.
Well didn’t even know how to respond to White Mist’s question.
Well was even stronger than before, now capable of effortlessly wiping out half a city district with his tremendous destructive power—far surpassing the speed he could previously move to the other end of the city.
How could Well possibly destroy Mechanism City in just sixty minutes?
Sixty minutes.
White Mist’s expression was also very serious.
"The worst has already happened... You should also get away," White Mist said.
She was not just a mere complication, not yet.
In fact, she didn’t really understand White Remote... This also carried a certain significance to White Mist, who immediately accessed her memories.
That single thread of similarity made White Remote quite elusive and different from before.
Yet, this person who was the ultimate enemy of White Mist’s childhood, seemed to have some slight difference from the characteristic "evil."
His feelings towards White Remote were very complicated.
He couldn’t understand why White Mist was so obsessed with White Remote. Zero, too, could feel White Mist’s emotions.
Zero was watching White Remote.
The repair of this cut wasn’t difficult at all, but Zero still possessed a strong life force.
Ma Li appeared to be unscathed, the Mechanism City reverting to its glowing, unspoiled state.
White Remote was also gone; Well had disappeared completely. He had a general idea of what happened.
Well seemed to be fueled by pure anger, fearlessly, although it seemed unlike him. It looked as if White Remote was simply trampling over White Mist.
Little did White Mist know that Well had actually made a deal with White Remote.
It had already decided it would capture White Mist alive and then torture him to death.
Well had no choice but to leave this place; there was nothing he could do, no matter how angry he got.
But they would all show their true nature eventually because people of their kind had many distinguishing characteristics.
Although it was said that they didn’t really have such high blood pressure to speak of, Well’s eyes were filled with bloodshot anger at the time.
"You really overestimate yourself, taking such interest in some old ruins."
Her smile was warmer than sunshine piercing through sorrowful clouds, her eyes a gentle glow in the distance.
"Who told you that this little mech and I can’t work together to defeat you? Why do you presume it’s so?"
"You’ve been hiding all this time, only daring to come out when I’m not around."
Bai Yuan even managed to pull off an embrace, much to their surprise.
Despite the mutual resonance, Well can no longer harm this world in any way.
To Well, this state of Zero seems to mean nothing at all.
Almost within one hundred seconds, they will enter a state of half-reality half-phantom, a doubled emptiness.
Well had considered Zero almost perfect to grasp, but it had already slipped away. It’s not that they wouldn’t use their heart to gouge out.
But the heart, though special overall, doesn’t really mean anything pertinent to their organs. Any part punctured will somehow be filled with some peculiar substance.
The core purpose of ’Heart-digging’ was, after all, to escape from the Spiritual World. And these strange creatures are just a kind of jiaolong from the Inner City.
At this instant, Well regretted using the ’Heart-digging’ method enormously, vowing never to part from this world again.
It’s immensely humiliating but not particularly harmful.
"Oh, it’s not as if I dislike this opposite faction in this world; it’s merely a matter of duty. Are you, who are losing every possible advantage, piece by piece, transforming completely, becoming my stumbling brother? Or perhaps you have a sister who complains to me that you’ve lost her completely."
"You only need to glance over and pay attention to the secret of this mech behind you, then exchange that for my words. Only scrap remains of my words, and my child is damaged. It’s such a pity you’re too foolish to see that, to see the many opportunities before you."
"But you’re the one challenging me, aren’t you? You must really want to see me, but this has become far too difficult. You wouldn’t hit me, would you?"
Bai Yuan gave them the middle finger.
Bai Yuan taunted them, but it only made Well feel mocked, after being virtually slain at the tail end of the Spiritual World.
It was Bai Yuan who made Well furious like this. After all, Bai Yuan is the real one.
"See, maybe you could still trample over me if you choose to enter a state of emptiness a bit late, Chu Qing. Our fate seems too shallow. Our beautiful encounters are always short-lived. But here I am, seeing you again."
"It is you!!!"
Well was simple-minded, straightforward to anger, which was easier than looking up at Zero again and again. But then, suddenly, a third voice pierced through the silence.
It was the familiar white mist, which should have left this real-world behind. In reality, they knew this white mist so very well, as it suddenly appeared before them.
Almost at the same instant, Zero also appeared right in front of the white mist, though already impervious to any damage the white mist might cause. Zero, having transformed into a void being, was about to leave this world behind.
"My child looks just like me, doesn’t he? After all, he should be the rightful inheritor of at least a part of my charm. Old man, do I resemble myself?"
But the action disrupted their line of thought, breaking the flow with a single, abrupt utterance.
Originally, Well wanted to say a few more words on the spot, but had to hurry away from this place instead.
Their arm began to take on a silvery metallic sheen, and the white mist’s hair changed to silver.
What about this white mist then?
The face was still Zero’s face, but as the hair grew longer, now turning a deep blue, the pupils also turned a deep azure, and their body began to show broken fragments of white bone. It was Zero’s side merging with the white mist.
"If you are truly the White Mist, then my dangers are invisible to you, lurking in this endless dark abyss of the soul."
The White Mist was also instantly present outside of Mechanism City, within this world.
Well finally found the White Mist within this world after passing through Zero many times and after many counterattacks with Zero.
Its figure vanished swiftly.
Though it seemed almost Buddha-like, as if it no longer belonged to this world, Well, however, remained unscathed, having passed through the immense Flaming Phoenix.
"We’ll have another round of discussions, just wait and see."
His voice began to sound more aloof and distant, merely an illusion of Well.
No other spiritual world could contain it, despite its overwhelming strength, except for this one outside of the normal.
Well became entirely an illusion, not the same as before.
The mysterious black substance appeared again out of the void, filling the empty space, making up for Well’s heart place, but without the same effect as before, after having his heart scooped out.
...Twisting the entire market back into a recreational zone, very quickly, as Mechanism City retains the fixation of Wanlan’s heart, with Inner City’s heart being the only lacking piece.
The white mist watched this unfold; Well Four couldn’t help but think back to when he had once gouged out his own heart core.
It had gouged out its own heart core too.
But Well Five, in just a brief moment, did something unimaginable!
The black barrier was only a brief pause in time.
The black barrier rebuilt itself; even more formidable than before, especially when the black barrier was already stronger than the ultimate release of power Yet it was just this black barrier that Well Five managed to break through once more!
Knowing this kind of power would face Well Five once again, the transcendence bout was about to commence, and Well Four watched as Zero flew towards the sky.
It was as if it had been fed a certain kind of unlimited energy code!
Ma Li flared up again in an instant, and although Zero wasn’t the least bit concerned about this consequence that he faced, Mechanism City was indeed bearing the imprint of being infected by some internal fire that wouldn’t go out easily.
Zero’s body fell to the ground once more, like a lotus blooming with fire, like ripples in the water, emanating far and wide from within his core, as Well Four watched on.
Despite everything, Well Five still had the upper hand in this bout of fist against fist.
In the end, it could not fully combust every part of itself in the black waves of the sky; its phoenix-fire was infinite and undying.
"Go back to where you came from! You represent what we’ve become in this world right from the start! But it’s not enough just for that reason," Zero said fiercely, "A highest being in this universe will definitely take a stand, and it will be me; from the moment we were born!"
It was as if the forces of the red and black were mutually suppressing each other.
A direct confrontation between the black matter waves and the red flaming phoenix wings unfolded.
The monumental energy was distorting the fabric of spacetime so much that even the twisted time around the edges began to warp even more.
Yet even though Zero had not yet returned to his peak, he also reached a direct confrontation with Well Five: Zero’s power, although not yet at his peak, was still formidable!
Zero’s fist and Well Five’s fist collided once more!
"Zero," Chu Qing admitted, "I recognize your power. In the twisted rules within the Well, you are but a significant ant; even if you reached the highest flying height, it’s as if you’ve always been just a tiny ant!"
"A flying ant might occasionally touch a high branch, but it’s intuitive that something so small could hardly ever confront a mighty eagle," Chu Qing retorted with cutting sarcasm.
However, it was not really restoration, as the black guiding lines seemed to be perpetually generating some kind of material to fill the void within itself.
Although this bizarre creature, resembling a phoenix undergoing infinite nirvana, would heal very quickly, Well Five’s body was continuously penetrated without interruption.
Head, heart core, chest, abdomen.
On Zero’s back, black conductive threads seem to be attaching themselves to some sort of soul, part of the fierce battle on the ground, yet its movement seems entirely devoid of any pattern. freeωebnovēl.c૦m
White mist — Well Five was also searching for another side of Zero at the same time.
He was looking for Well Five’s weak point.
Every time was a different choice for Zero.
With each piercing thrust of Well Five’s phoenix-fire bone spear, Zero became stronger.
The red phoenix fire clashed incessantly with the black material.
Within the white mist in his eyes, there was a constant creation of kinetic energy, immediately sensed and affected by his consciousness. The flesh-eye had already lost complete track of the two’s position shifting.
The high-altitude tug-of-war battle between Zero and Well Five turned into a chase.
Well Five would also exhaust a tremendous amount of energy to keep zero entrapped; despite this being Zero’s heart core, it could coerce a powerful existence from within the realm to pull Well Five inside.
While one side wants to cut the other down, the other side is thinking of escaping the battlefield. At this point, the fight has turned into a pursuit battle.
Well Five was determined, considering the cost-benefit balance.
"Although I won’t die, even if I’m on the brink of a lethal hit... but just talking for a short while can be very annoying..."
"Is white mist truly the high tower they created to come into being... a kind of divine substance that produces phoenix fire... able to turn pure rage into a burning substance that absorbs negative emotions? Or is it still some unknown life form... not even human?"
"If so, I will eventually become weaker than it, and the gap between this mechanical creature and myself will gradually close."
"An extreme release of power will lower all my energy."
Well Five was considering the same strategy, planning the upcoming confrontation with Zero and the white mist.
If Well Five were to leave this realm, Inner City could be destroyed in one day if Zero couldn’t rush there in six minutes.
It would be enough to exhaust Well Five to the point where he had no more strength left for a "real world battle," that’s what Zero and the white mist should do.
Zero and Well Five are both determined to kill each other; Well Five is very close to breaking away from this event.
The exchange of consciousness between the two people was only in a fleeting moment.
"... even if I managed to escape from this place, the five years I spent in the Well would still haunt me."
"Zero was essentially a self-imposed ’restraint device’ within Mechanism City. It was installed in the Inner City to allow the Palace God Mech to operate normally, in an attempt to reduce some of the negative emotions that could affect the city."
Chu Qing had long since figured out that the only way to dissolve this restriction and allow Zero to merge with him was to ensure the Palace God Mech operated normally, thereby reducing the negative emotions, potentially easing Zero’s predicament."
"If I were to be transported to a real battlefield due to some incident, I would only be able to dissolve this restriction within sixty minutes. Otherwise, I would be restricted within the Palace God Mech for a short time, which would be detrimental. Although it has been destroyed due to some underlying reason... I am Arka, the creator and protector. It won’t be trapped for too long; it will eventually find a way out on its own."
White Mist didn’t know if there was something special about the Well, as she couldn’t observe it directly.
But these are just guesses from two people.
At the pinnacle of its state, Zero might overcome the essence of the Well or vice versa.
Arka ultimately expelled the Well, which is why Chu Qing and the Well formed a basic judgment against each other. However, Arka wasn’t the essence of Zero.
It seemed as though the Well had used something like a projection of itself, so he could feel that, in his pre-battle memories with Arka, he was interacting with the Well.
White Mist has a rough understanding.
"Although I triumphed, it was only because it hadn’t truly descended upon us yet. The very last time I fought with it was something tangible. It’s completely different from the evil I’ve faced before... Chu Qing isn’t wrong."
"What exactly is it that you’ve interacted with in the past, if not the Well?"
White Mist seemed to find it interesting, but Zero paid little to no attention to this over-interpreted phenomenon.
The color of its body finally changed slowly from black to the appropriate color.
As these black vapors of malice appeared, they transformed and morphed into the figure of the Well. It was as if a part of the Well had materialized.
What emerged in the void was an endless stream of negative emotions and malice, filling up the Well’s form.
This wasn’t a normal healing of flesh and blood, but a makeshift patchwork, something that couldn’t quite be described as a healing process.
The Well had its own unique way of self-restoration, which wasn’t to say that it released a terrifyingly powerful strike, reducing the entire Western District to ashes, out of any doubt or confusion. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
What does the essential replenishment pointed out by the eyes signify?
What exactly is the Well?
White Mist looked on as the Well’s body mended and repaired itself, eyes revealing a trace of puzzlement.
It was somewhat amusing that a creature like this—a mechanical monster that would normally stop people—was blocked in this glorious existence.
Clearly underestimating his own danger, the person lurking behind Zero was not a regular human being.
Although the Well had already emerged with the intent to withdraw, because it realized that Zero still had many cards to play. It had vastly superior strength, far from reaching its zenith, and Zero was simply relying on its momentarily advantageous position.
There was some form of void within the Well, as if it were capable of burning up all the malice with extinguishing flames.
White bones burst forth spewing fire today, much like an inexhaustible taking that had already kindled into a flame, from the broken body.
Yet it crawled up again and again—as if Zero before it was just a creature with an endless energy source, despite appearing to be drained and dry.
Having been pushed to its limit, it had already begun searching for a way out. The Well’s move was terrifyingly destructive and nothing like the usual grievances and negative emotions.
The entire Western District had turned into a dust storm, making it seem as if it were engulfed by a bizarre sandstorm.
An appalling scene emerged as if the entire district was imitating the vanishing of a peculiar substance.
Following the descent, the ’black sphere’ of danger narrowly missed colliding with Zero.
In the end, Zero’s play was just too quick for the Well.
Without any hesitation, Zero pulled back, and as if following a plan, the Well threw out a pitch-black substance from its palm and advanced a move.
Both White Mist and Zero felt an immense danger.
Like a star appearing out of the pitch-dark chaos of space.
The black energy sphere in their hand slowly changed color, indicating a subtle difference.
Although it didn’t show a stream of overt fear, the intense pain made it seem as if its body was being burned by the red lotus karma fire.
As black substance condensed into a sphere in the Well’s palm, it hadn’t yet returned to its peak state, and Zero had already felt a diminishing in its strength, taking advantage of its incomplete restoration.
Yet within the Well’s mind and disposition, there was only surprise and anger, even though its body had already been penetrated by a bone spear of red flame.
