Chapter 294: Chapter 98: Three Confrontations
Time rewound to not long ago, the auction scene.
The Blindfolded Behemoth was referred to by merchants as Destruction.
Among the many level nine Evil Fallen, Jing Wu had been searching for a long time and finally chose Destruction as his own minion.
This seemed to be a tradition; Jing Si also had a minion once, but it was later torn apart by the frenzied Jing Si.
The minion of Jing Liu today, is Shen Shuyue, who has Infinite Proliferation and grew into a top predator outside the High Tower in just three years.
The demands of many partners were diverse, but for these few beings who live at the top outside the High Tower, there was only one requirement for minions—
Strength.
Destruction was strong, and thus was given the name of Destruction.
Neither the merchant nor the blacksmith made a move; members of the Mechanical City’s fully armed Divine Guard and experts from the four major weapon manufacturers, placed in the purple or even red areas, all possessed the ability to hunt like predators.
Yet, in the face of Destruction’s formidable strength and defense, their offense and defense seemed utterly laughable.
Destruction was like an enraged monster, using the simplest, most ungraceful moves, like children fighting, easily tearing apart the defenses.
The roars it emitted were even powerful enough to penetrate the buildings of Mechanical City, spreading the sound waves like a tsunami far and wide.
In front of the red Angel Envoy mechanic, all guardians were slaughtered by Destruction.
The blacksmith quickly acquired the Angel Envoy.
"This really is a treasure," the blacksmith said, rare smile appearing on his face.
The merchant’s multitude of tentacles danced joyfully:
"Yo-ho-ho-ho-ho, still, I wouldn’t recommend letting the master use it directly. There might be something hidden in it."
The blacksmith was indifferent; it had forged many Spirit Possessed items, and although the red body had not yet undergone Spirit Possession, it could feel a potential utterly different from ordinary Spirit Possession items.
"Coming here this time, even if Zero did not agree to the master’s request, it was worth it," the blacksmith cherished the Angel Envoy.
But the Octopus always felt that the Angel Envoy was acquired too easily; there were many guards at the auction site.
They were all restrained by Destruction, which might be one reason, but the Octopus still felt that this treasure of Mechanical City was obtained too easily.
When something is abnormal, there must be demons at work; it thought it better to be cautious, even if the usually careful blacksmith did not sense anything amiss upon seeing the treasure.
"Even if the master does not use the Angel Envoy, he can still defeat Zero, so I suggest keeping the Angel Envoy for now. Ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho, just in case there is any plot, the opponent’s plan will not succeed."
The merchant’s suggestion was correct, and the blacksmith, not being blinded by joy, nodded in agreement.
But at that moment, two men, one tall and one short, appeared.
Meanwhile, in a distant place that Bai Wu knew nothing of, Xie Xingzhi, Yan Zizai, and Bai Xiaoyu, all received an S-level mission—to go to the auction and kill the invaders.
Xie Xingzhi was puzzled; as a doctor, why would he receive a mission meant for assassins and mercenaries?
But as the soundwave, like a tsunami, pierced through half the city, Xie Xingzhi realized that there were only about ten minutes left until the Rage Tide. Perhaps the worst-case scenario had occurred.
The city was indeed, as Bai Wu had said, under the siege of outsiders and truly in the midst of a catastrophe.
Xie Xingzhi began heading to the auction; there he would encounter the nemesis of his life.
And Wu Jiu and Zheng Yue, who had arrived earlier, had already started to fight over the Angel Envoy.
"Humans? Yo-ho-ho-ho-ho, now I believe that no one in the Mechanical Race can be used; they are actually hiring humans."
The Octopus looked at Wu Jiu and Zheng Yue, clearly not deeming these two men a threat.
But hidden in a corner, the upper echelon of Colossus who had put the mechanical core into standby mode, upon seeing the Twin Killers, were so excited they nearly exposed themselves!
Just before, when the Twin Killers suddenly disappeared, the Eye of Colossus who had been very confident about the auction, suddenly became worried.
They even suspected that the Twin Killers had been bought over by a hostile force.
Of course, there was no longer a discussion of hostile forces now; the decision-makers of the four major weapon companies were already aware of what was happening at the auction site and were dispatching a large number of the Mechanical Race to assist.
Destruction had not yet had its fill of slaughter. Seeing Wu Jiu and Zheng Yue, it revealed a ferocious look.
The blacksmith, merchant, Destruction, the three great experts by Jing Wu’s side, they each had their roles, but all possessed the strength to look disdainfully upon all challengers.
Within the Evil Fallen, the blacksmith and merchant already belonged to the black area.
Their strength was not something the humans of the present could challenge.
Therefore, the trio did not take Wu Jiu and Zheng Yue seriously, but the next second, the blacksmith suddenly widened his eyes.
Wu Jiu’s figure vanished.
Zheng Yue’s eyes closed.
The two seemed to have done something, yet it appeared as though nothing had happened.
The scene seemingly remained unchanged, except that... the Angel Envoy was transferred.
Wu Jiu held the lightweight body of the Angel Envoy in his hands.
This scene stunned the blacksmith, who immediately reacted: freeweɓnøvel.com
"Take it back! Destroy, reclaim the Angel Envoy!"
Wrath roared again. In the instant the sound wave hit, Wu Jiu, carrying Zheng Yue, had already appeared behind Wrath.
Neither Wrath, Octopus, nor the blacksmith saw what Wu Jiu did.
It was as if Wu Jiu wasn’t fast, but rather—he teleported!
Talent Sequence 59—Instant Shadow.
If Extreme Shadow granted Wu Jiu super high speed, then Instant Shadow gave Wu Jiu a kind of speed that transcended speed itself!
Wrath was beside himself with fury. It swung its massive arms wildly, its terrifying strength instantly smashing the auction site to smithereens.
But no matter what, Wrath could not touch Wu Jiu.
On the contrary, Wu Jiu held the Angel Envoy in one hand and wielded a short knife in the other, continuously slashing. Visually, it appeared as if Wu Jiu was exchanging blows with Wrath.
Yet while countless punches from Wrath missed, every slash from Wu Jiu struck the target.
However, Wrath was too powerful. Its terrifying regenerative abilities and defenses allowed it to emerge unscathed from nearly a hundred assaults, its rage only intensifying.
Roars transformed into sound waves, exploding continuously and affecting the buildings in the East City District.
The citizens of the Mechanical Race began equipping their usually unused armed bodies.
But they chose not to resist, opting instead to flee. Aside from a few armed forces organized by major weapons companies approaching the East City District, the rest of the Mechanical Race citizens were evacuating the area.
The auction’s building crumbled due to its inability to withstand the terrible punching force.
After the collapse of the high-rise building, Zheng Yue, Wu Jiu, Wrath, the blacksmith, and the merchant all found themselves in a state of free fall.
Wu Jiu stood on a massive rock, continuing the attack on Wrath.
The merchant shouted:
"Decompose! Activate decomposition!"
Decomposition of All Things, Reconstruction, two legendary tier entries.
This granted the merchant and the blacksmith overwhelming power against other monsters.
Sequences and entries could be decomposed into a certain origin power, which, after reconstruction, could transform this power into known existing entries.
However, while decomposition is easy, reconstruction has many requirements, only possible with the memories of the entry’s original owner.
This is why the blacksmith and the merchant couldn’t use reconstruction to create Infinite Proliferation or Reincarnation.
Of course, Prayle’s Eye, Bipolar Transposition, and Mirror Flower, Water Moon—these sequences also couldn’t be reconstructed.
Because sequences differ from entries, some of those in the top thirty are unique.
Only after their owners death will they appear in someone else.
Right now, the merchant wasn’t considering reconstruction, he simply wanted to decompose the opponent’s power.
But both Decomposition of All Things and Reconstruction, despite being legendary tier entries, have significant limitations in their use.
To instantly decompose the opponent’s entry one must have the opponent’s consent, otherwise, slow decomposition is the only option.
This type of decomposition requires several successive hits on the opponent to succeed.
The casino, due to an agreement, was enveloped by a rule named "agreement." Within the casino, the rules for decomposing an opponent’s entry were determined by the outcome of the gambling match.
And now, if the blacksmith wishes to decompose the sequence on Wu Jiu, he must touch Wu Jiu several times.
For Wu Jiu, that simply won’t happen.
The clash of blade and fist caused air currents to ripple like the surface of water, and the confrontation between Wu Jiu and Evil Fallen had turned white-hot from the very start.
Up to now, the merchant and the blacksmith still couldn’t believe there was a human who could trade blows with Evil Fallen head-on.
They ultimately fell to the ground, leaving only Wu Jiu and Evil Fallen, like two monsters from completely different styles, clashing incessantly in the low sky!
The blacksmith said:
"Can’t touch him, this human’s speed... too fast."
The merchant said, "Yes, he must have obtained some kind of external power. It’s impossible for a human to contend with Evil Fallen directly. Let’s deal with the other one first."
"Finally noticed me, huh? As an Angel Envoy, I won’t let you take it away; this thing is too important." Zheng Yue yawned lazily.
If he had to deal with a monster like Evil Fallen, who could move too fast for him to react, he wasn’t confident, but against a relatively slower opponent, he felt sure of himself.
The blacksmith sneered:
"There’s nothing we want that we can’t get."
In the moment the merchant looked at Zheng Yue, he seemed to discover something amusing:
"It’s been a long time since I’ve seen such a formidable Sequence, but you have our casino’s mark on you. This means that the people behind you have collaborated with us before. Are you sure you want to stand against me?"
The merchant wasn’t able to see through the Sequence entries, but Zheng Yue was different for the merchant than Wu Jiu.
Because Zheng Yue was a Guardian. He had once received a gift from the casino. Thus, the merchant knew Zheng Yue possessed a powerful Mirror Flower, Water Moon.
Zheng Yue frowned.
What’s going on? Did he encounter an old man’s partner in the black sector of Mechanical City?
Zheng Yue didn’t remember the merchant, and the merchant didn’t remember Zheng Yue, but indeed, among the eight ruling families, except for the Xie Family, which didn’t deal with the native powers, the other seven had all done business with the merchant.
Such as life span.
Zheng Yue started to feel a bit troubled.
Speaking of which, this squad led by Yan Zizai was originally not aligned with the Investigation Corps.
But somehow, everyone had begun to cooperate.
Zheng Yue had to admit one thing: Wu Jiu really was a man... hard to dislike.
It was much more enjoyable to be with this man than with the other people in the monitoring team.
He was meticulous and took his work seriously, yet he was very considerate of others. As a lazy Zheng Yue, sometimes he even felt a little guilty.
In the past, he slacked off because his teammates would always assign him tasks, but Wu Jiu wouldn’t. Wu Jiu believed in not inconveniencing others if it wasn’t necessary.
This made Zheng Yue, who liked to slack off during busy times, lose his joy in slacking off.
After all, the thrill of shirking work only came when there was work to be done.
If shirking work became the norm, the fun would disappear.
All in all...
Zheng Yue realized something very wrong. In the span of a few days, he had unconsciously come to think of Wu Jiu as a friend.
"Troublesome, issues of stance are the most troublesome."
The power behind the Zheng Family was not Black Gold Island. The two forces most closely associated with Black Gold Island were the Zhong Family and the Qin Family.
But who wouldn’t want to supplement that?
Seeing an opportunity, the merchant said:
"Looks like you must be a guardian from some family. Just right, the ruler of the Zhong Family is dead. Who isn’t a business partner to talk to?"
The Zhong Family guardian is dead?
Zheng Yue was shocked.
The merchant continued:
"As a Guardian, you must know of the Zhong Family’s powers beyond the High Tower, right? That fat pig just wanted to build a paradise of luxury, but we are capable of so much more."
"Immortality, Sequence, memory, and even history, we can provide whatever you want. Once our lord liberates the High Tower, as collaborators, you can continue to rule over other humans. Are you sure you don’t want to take this deal?"
"Ho ho ho ho ho ho, don’t think about killing us, oh. We are not going to die here. Our lord also has the power to destroy this city."
Zheng Yue did heed the merchant’s words.
Seeing the other party deep in thought, the ironsmith didn’t rush to act, for Wu Jiu’s strength had already surpassed imagination, making the outcome between destruction and Wu Jiu hard to predict.
As Wu Jiu’s teammate, it was likely that this human before him was no ordinary individual.
Zheng Yue was undecided, his instincts told him he should agree to the merchant’s offer, yet doing so would mean becoming an enemy to Wu Jiu.
If it were someone else, Zheng Yue wouldn’t have found it a pity.
Wu Jiu, knowing Zheng Yue’s dilemma, started to worry inwardly. But at that moment, he couldn’t think of a way to win Zheng Yue over.
If Bai Wu were here, he could certainly render the merchant’s temptations futile.
But he wasn’t Bai Wu.
Especially since the power and speed of destruction were accelerating, Wu Jiu had no time to contemplate too much.
As if possessed, Zheng Yue took a step forward.
In the end, he was inclined to help the merchant since it would be a significant boost to his family.
But in the next second, Xie Xingzhi’s voice reached him:
"Zheng Yue! Don’t be foolish! If they were truly that strong, would they need to snatch Angel Envoys? If they were really that formidable, Zhong Xu wouldn’t have met his end like that!"
"Drive them back! Mechanical City will be grateful to you, but if you ally with them, the moment they find new partners, they will kick you to the curb without hesitation! On one hand, you have solid support, on the other, just a whim, you won’t get confused at the critical moment, will you?"
"My Xie family, relying on Mechanical City, have we ever had less say among the eight major families?"
Xie Xingzhi’s remarks were a wake-up call.
Zheng Yue’s mind suddenly cleared; the thing laziest people fear most is change. I was about to fight you, so I will continue to fight you - this aligns with my way of thinking.
Most importantly, there’s no need to become enemies with the dwarf - truly a relief.
Zheng Yue made a decisive decision and closed his eyes.
At the same moment, the merchant opened its barrier.
It couldn’t let the ironsmith fall into Zheng Yue’s dream as well because only the ironsmith could transport Angel Envoys over long distances.
Under the purple sky, an octopus man of Cthulhu-like proportions appeared in Zheng Yue’s dream.
The merchant sneered and said:
"Yo ho ho ho ho, it’s been a while since I’ve had a real fight."
The immense octopus looked terrifying. Zheng Yue’s second power of Mirror Flower, Water Moon, namely the dreamworld, needed a Guardian, but with Arcas’s modifications, Zheng Yue had found a solution.
Although this method couldn’t last for very long.
"In my dream, do you think I’ll let you bully me?" Zheng Yue’s presence was no less formidable.
Outside the dream, Xie Xingzhi looked at Zheng Yue, who seemed to have dragged the merchant into the dreamworld, curious why he and the ironsmith, along with Wu Jiu and the Blindfolded Behemoth, had not entered the dream.
He didn’t dwell on it and clenched his hand in the void, activating Talent Sequence 66—Imperial Arms Summoning.
A Spirit Possession bow and arrow instantly appeared in Xie Xingzhi’s hands.
The ironsmith sneered:
"Is your ability also to infuse items with spirits? That’s really interesting. Let’s see whose Spirit Possession items are more plentiful."
The ironsmith opened the Spirit Possession box strapped to his back, pulling out a shield and a spear.
Wu Jiu against destruction. The merchant against Zheng Yue. Xie Xingzhi against the ironsmith.
Three battles unfolded.
Meanwhile, in the South District, Yan Zizai and Bai Xiaoyu once again gave up on an S-rank mission.
At the same time, in the Inner World, Bai Wu and Zero seemed to have come to a certain realization.
Outside Core City, in the Mechanical Temple, Arcas was resisting Jing Wu with all his might.
But he already knew his fate; he only hoped that the Mechanical City he had guarded all his life would not fall today.
(The timeline of this Chapter is a bit earlier than the last one, providing an account of each individual’s battles. More updates to come tonight as I’m working hard on them.)
