Chapter 353: Chapter 323: Ring (2)
’He isn’t planning on doing something to her, is he?’
"I can’t tell you, anyway. You’ll come with me to find Smith, and you can ask him yourself then!"
The man clearly had no intention of wasting any more time here.
"Alright."
As Wen Ying spoke that one word, another slip of paper suddenly appeared on the wall where one had materialized before.
It was facing the man, so he saw it, strode over, and snatched the note. On it was written: "Don’t trust him."
The man burst out laughing.
"Do you know who lives next door?"
Wen Ying shook her head; she didn’t know.
But she saw the paper in the man’s hand. "Was that note for me? Isn’t it a bit rude to take my things?"
Wen Ying’s question was completely serious.
But the man was displeased by her words. "You’re about to leave with me. Are you still trying to hide secrets? If you want to come over to our side, you have to do exactly as I say. Understand? Otherwise, it won’t end well for you."
The man’s eyes held a certain indescribable scrutiny.
"What about the other girls who came to the mist before? What happened to them?"
The man sneered. "Them? Heh. The good-looking ones find a decent big shot to lean on, but they don’t last long. Once their patrons get tired of them, they get thrown away. How could they possibly survive in a place like this?"
"What about the unattractive ones?" Wen Ying asked, genuinely curious.
A sleazy grin spread across the man’s face, his gaze turning vulgar. "The ugly ones? Naturally, they’re passed around for the grunts to use. You’re not so naive you don’t get that, right? But someone of your quality... you’re top-shelf goods. You’re the kind that can latch onto a big shot. And once you’re with a boss, you think you’ll have to worry about not getting out of here alive?"
"So were they killed by people, or by monsters?"
The man was getting impatient, but the sight of Wen Ying’s face made him suppress his irritation.
’I have to endure it for now. This woman can be very useful!’
’I can’t scare her off. What if she refuses to come with me?’
"Of course we ’took care’ of them. A few were thrown to the monsters. A woman like that has lost all her value."
The man couldn’t believe he had said something like that again.
’Just a moment ago, he’d been saying all the right things, exactly what he’d intended, without revealing his true thoughts.’
’How had it turned out like this again?’
Hearing this, Wen Ying showed no fear.
Her expression remained placid.
It was as if none of this had any effect on her.
Seeing her calm expression, the man gradually relaxed.
But then, unexpectedly, Wen Ying spoke. "So in this terrifying place, women don’t just have to watch out for monsters, but also for humans, right? After all, people like you are just as ruthless as the monsters, treating human life as if it’s worthless. Without the restraints of the law, have you all just unleashed your true natures and released the deepest malice in your hearts?"
"What’s that supposed to mean?" The man’s voice was filled with displeasure.
"That’s what you’re planning for me, isn’t it? Hand me over to some so-called boss, and when he gets tired of me, toss me to the men below. And once I have no value left, just kill me."
Wen Ying’s tone was so calm, it was as if she were talking about someone else, a detached observer.
"You!" The man felt the strangeness of the situation intensifying.
"That note said ’Don’t trust him.’ It was talking about you, wasn’t it?"
"So your group must have a terrible reputation here, right?"
"You’re not thinking of backing out, are you?"
Wen Ying shook her head. ’How could I back out now?’
’She was a super Gentle psychologist, after all.’
"How about this: I’ll give you another chance. Pay me a thousand, and I’ll help you with your psychological issues. Before I came here, I was a clinical psychologist."
As Wen Ying spoke, she pulled a brand-new white lab coat out of her pocket.
And put it on.
The man’s eyes went wide!
’This woman is actually trying to pull a uniform seduction on me!’
’Who could possibly resist this?’
His mind clouded with lewd thoughts, the man failed to notice a crucial detail: how could such a large lab coat, even when folded, fit into such a tiny pocket?
[Holy shit! Is this today’s fan service?]
[First time seeing Doctor Wen in a lab coat! My nose is bleeding! I’m anemic!]
[Wifey! Wifey! You look so good! Please wear this more often!]
[I hereby declare my one and only wife—Doctor Wen! I’ll marry no one but you in this life!]
Wen Ying pulled over a stool, sat down, and then took a pair of glasses frames out of her pocket, placing them on the bridge of her nose.
Who knows how many people used up several packs of tissues because of this scene.
