Chapter 332: Chapter 316: You’re Not the New Leader, Are You?

The portion for each dish wasn’t huge, but it was still more than enough for a full meal.

And on top of that, there were so many dishes, plus a soup.

The table in front of Wen Ying was packed with food. When the others saw her meal, they were all dumbstruck.

Why!

By what right?!

Why were they eating pig slop!

No, it was even worse than pig slop!

Yet this woman was eating such a fine meal!

Sweet and sour pork ribs!

Sweet and sour tenderloin!

Spicy prawns!

Chilled preserved eggs!

Seaweed and egg drop soup!

Then they looked at their own plates: a mass of something pitch-black and unidentifiable, occasionally streaked with blood.

And they had to finish it all, no leftovers allowed!

Someone had once refused to eat it, terrified they were eating... *that* kind of meat.

He’d had his neck snapped on the spot.

A bloody lesson, indeed.

But what right did this human have?

Just because she was good-looking or a psycho?

Not everyone could bear this kind of atmosphere, but they had been forced to endure it for a very, very long time.

The tension snapped.

Someone stood up and ran directly toward the cook. "I want to report her! This person isn’t a supervisor at all, she’s just a new janitor!"

"Yes, yes, I can testify! She’s new!"

"This newbie tricked you and even threatened the head chef! You have to punish her!"

Among those who spoke up were the thin, white-haired man and the burly man from before.

Wen Ying heard their words and glanced at them dismissively.

Then she picked up her chopsticks and took a bite of the sweet and sour pork ribs.

’Not bad,’ she thought. ’It actually tastes pretty good.’

’I never expected to find a chef this skilled in a mental asylum. Worthy of praise.’

The ones who stood up were just a few who couldn’t hold back their emotions; most of the others were just watching the show.

They wouldn’t act rashly.

In this godforsaken place, you could lose your life at any second. They had to be cautious, then more cautious, and stay vigilant at all times.

They were more than happy to let someone else test the waters for them.

Hearing the accusations from the orderlies, that cook suddenly looked at Wen Ying, seeming a bit confused.

He couldn’t make a decision on this kind of matter; he had to tell the head chef.

The head chef, hearing the commotion outside—a commotion unlike any before—also walked out from the back kitchen.

After all, maintaining order in the cafeteria was part of his job, and he absolutely couldn’t let the leadership be displeased.

But as soon as he came out, those people repeated their accusations to him.

A janitor?

A new one?

The cockroach monster’s expression soured. He looked over at Wen Ying, who was still happily eating with her chopsticks.

She seemed completely unaware that the oppressive atmosphere had anything to do with her.

The cockroach monster walked toward Wen Ying, the more he thought about it, the more he felt something wasn’t right.

’If a new supervisor had arrived at the asylum, someone should have notified me.’

’After all, I’ve paid my fair share of tributes.’

’Could this human really not be a supervisor?’

’Is she really just a janitor?’

The cockroach monster’s face grew even fouler. If anyone else in the asylum found out he’d been made a fool of by a new janitor, how could he ever show his face again!

Damned human janitor!

How dare she deceive him!

The cockroach monster reached out, and with a SNAP, twisted the burly man’s head off, casually tossing it aside.

The burly man obviously never imagined that his act of tattling would cost him his life.

But no matter what he thought, he was dead.

His partner, however, quickly backed away, lowering his head and not daring to look.

’I know how this cockroach monster works!’

’He only killed that guy out of rage!’

’If I had been standing there, my head would be rolling on the floor right now!’

’These damned NPCs!’

’One day, I’ll tear you to shreds!’

But for now, he didn’t dare make a rash move.

’This instance is too important for my country!’

’I have to make it back alive!’

The cockroach monster stalked toward Wen Ying, his face a ferocious snarl, and swiped his hand at the table in front of her.

’Still eating?!’

Unfortunately, the claw he extended was caught by Wen Ying.

In that brief moment, Wen Ying had even pulled on a pair of white gloves.

"Wasting food is a disgrace. Don’t you know that? And you call yourself a head chef! It would be a terrible waste to knock over such fine food. Just wait a minute. Let me finish eating, and then we can talk."

Wen Ying genuinely wanted to finish her meal. It tasted good, and she was starting to feel hungry.

But to the cockroach monster, her calm words were nothing short of a provocation.

A blatant, shameless provocation!

’This wretched human embarrassed me, and now she’s provoking me in front of all these people?’

’I’m going to teach this human a lesson she’ll never forget!’

’She likes to eat?’

’Fine!’

’I’ll just cut her mouth right off!’

’She likes using her hands?’

’Fine!’

’Those hands will make an excellent broom!’

’Isn’t she a janitor?’

’Then she can be a janitor for the rest of her life!’
