Chapter 55: Chapter 55: Kissing Video Sent

Hearing the mention of the "superstar," Sophie Shaw was almost certain the person Nina Halloway had been talking to on the phone was Alaric Blackwood.

Noticing the light dim in Sophie Shaw’s eyes, Anne realized she’d misspoken. She shouldn’t have brought up the subject of Alaric Blackwood’s rumored flame at a time like this.

She quickly tried to backtrack. "But don’t worry, the superstar said she isn’t coming back for the wedding. Her schedule is totally packed."

Sophie Shaw just said, "Oh," and feigned indifference. "It’s a contract marriage anyway. I don’t get involved in Alaric Blackwood’s private life."

’Even if he kept a dozen mistresses on the side, what would that have to do with me?’

"Why do I get the feeling your tone is a little... jealous?"

Anne looked at her curiously. "Is it just my imagination?"

Sophie Shaw panicked a little inside. "It is. It’s just your imagination, of course."

"But your tone just now..."

"I’m not jealous. Why would I be jealous?"

To hide her embarrassment, Sophie Shaw picked up her glass and chugged it.

"Slow down. You have a sensitive stomach. We said we’d just have a little to drink, so don’t be in such a rush."

"It’s fine. I get to move out of the Kane Family’s house tomorrow. I’m in a good mood, so I can have a few more."

"Don’t mess up the wedding tomorrow."

"I won’t."

"Then take it easy and don’t drink too much. You’re a big girl; I won’t be able to carry you if you get wasted."

Sophie Shaw’s phone was on silent, but the vibration was on.

She felt her phone vibrate against her thigh several times. She pulled it out and saw it was a call from Joseph Shaw.

There were already several missed calls, and there were also messages from Joseph Shaw on WeChat.

[Did you pick up Anne? The wedding dress was delivered this afternoon.]

[The wedding is tomorrow. Come back early.]

[Where are you now? Why aren’t you answering your phone?]

[Are you still mad at me about last night? I know no explanation will work, but you have to believe that Dad really does care about you.]

Sophie Shaw read the messages but didn’t reply or call Joseph Shaw back.

She stuffed her phone back into her pocket, grabbed her glass from the table, and kept drinking.

「At the same time.」

「The Nocturne Club.」

A fantastic band was performing in the first-floor bar. The club owner had hired a super popular band, a full lineup of handsome young men and beautiful girls. The moment they stepped on stage, the crowd below went wild.

Jaden had booked a VIP booth directly facing the stage. It was an expensive spot, but it offered the best view of the performance in the entire venue.

The crystal table was laden with drinks, snacks, and fruit platters. Alaric Blackwood had already been forced to down several rounds of drinks.

Besides Jaden and Evan Ford, some high school and college classmates they still kept in touch with had also been invited by Jaden to join the wild party. After a few rounds, Alaric Blackwood was already feeling dizzy.

The heavy metal music from the stage was giving him a headache. He rubbed his temples and reached out to tap Evan Ford on the shoulder.

Evan slid over and sat down next to him.

"What’s up?"

He leaned close to Evan Ford and said in his ear, "Why did Jaden invite so many people?"

There were some classmates whose names he couldn’t even remember.

"Jaden said he wanted to get you wasted."

"And you just let him run wild?" free𝑤ebnovel.com

"I honestly didn’t know at first."

It was only when he got here that he realized Jaden had invited so many guys and girls.

"I feel like Jaden’s deliberately trying to mess with me."

Hearing this, Evan Ford’s lips twitched. "I doubt it’s that serious."

"That kid had a drunken fit last time, but he didn’t show up at the boxing gym to see me the next day."

"How could he have the nerve? If he went, he’d just be asking for a beating. He’s self-aware enough to know that."

The performance on stage ended, and explosive dance music started blasting.

A lot of people gathered on the stage to dance.

Alaric Blackwood got up to go to the restroom. When he returned, he saw an extra person in their booth.

It was Jaden’s girlfriend, Stella Yarrow.

The woman was sitting next to Jaden, her arm draped over his shoulder, her red lips parted to accept a piece of fruit he was feeding her.

His brow furrowed slightly. He walked to a dim corner and silently lit a cigarette.

Under the dazzling strobe lights, he watched the booth from a distance.

Jaden fed Stella Yarrow a few pieces of watermelon. Then, while the others were on stage dancing and only Evan Ford was left in the booth, he pushed Stella down onto the sofa and started kissing her fiercely.

At first, Stella Yarrow resisted fiercely, her hands constantly pushing Jaden away. But as they kissed, she stopped struggling and wrapped her arms around him.

The sight made Alaric Blackwood’s eyes ache. He crushed the cigarette in his hand, decisively pulled his phone from his pocket, and, fueled by the alcohol, recorded a video of the two of them kissing in the booth. He confirmed the short video was clear enough, at least clear enough to see that the man in the frame was Jaden.

He immediately opened WeChat and sent the video to Nina Halloway.

Back at the booth, he casually grabbed a glass of liquor from the table, downed it in one go, and then kicked Jaden hard in the shin.

The man cried out in pain and immediately pulled away from Stella Yarrow, glaring at him angrily.

"What the hell is wrong with you?"

Alaric Blackwood sneered, "Me? Am I the one who’s fucking crazy?"

’If you threw this party for me as a friend, from a friend’s perspective, why did you have to bring Stella Yarrow?’

’Aren’t you just trying to piss me off?’

"Jaden, no matter how good of friends we are, our relationship can’t withstand you pulling this kind of shit."

The one being cheated on was his sister.

His own sister!

Seeing that he was about to explode, Jaden backed down. "Okay, I’ll send her out right now."

Stella Yarrow was a little displeased. "What does this have to do with me? Why do I have to leave?"

"Just stop asking and grab your bag."

"I won’t."

Stella Yarrow pouted, crossed her arms, and leaned back on the sofa, striking a pose that clearly said, ’Whoever wants to leave can leave, but I’m not going anywhere.’

Jaden looked extremely embarrassed and turned helplessly to Alaric Blackwood. "Jasmine is young and doesn’t know any better. Don’t lower yourself to her level."

"If she’s not leaving, then I am."

Alaric Blackwood grabbed his jacket, got up, and walked down the steps.

Jaden hurried after him.

He caught Alaric at the club entrance. "Alaric, I was wrong. I didn’t mean for her to come. She insisted, whining that the club booked her favorite band tonight."

"I already sent the video of you two kissing to my sister. Jaden, you’re on your own now."

Jaden’s eyes widened. He was completely stunned.

"You... what did you say?"

Just then, Stella Yarrow chased after them.

She clung to Jaden’s arm and noticed his terrible expression. "Honey, what’s wrong?"

"This doesn’t concern you."

He shook off Stella Yarrow’s hand, took a few steps to catch up with Alaric Blackwood, and roughly dragged the man, who was already walking down the steps, back into the club.

The wedding was tomorrow, and Alaric Blackwood didn’t want to get into a fight with Jaden. He still remembered something Sophie Shaw had said before: ’The wedding is so soon. Do you want to show up bruised and battered?’

He suppressed the rage boiling in his chest and let Jaden drag him back into the bar and into the restroom.

It was much quieter in here compared to outside.

Jaden lit a cigarette and took a hard drag, his voice trembling slightly. "Was what you just said for real?"

"Yeah."

"What did your sister say?"

Alaric Blackwood pulled out his phone and glanced at it, seeing that Nina Halloway hadn’t replied.

’She’s probably already asleep at this hour.’

"Unsend it. Unsend it right now."

Jaden was so anxious his eyes were turning red. He dropped the cigarette in his hand, lunged forward, and grabbed Alaric Blackwood by the collar, roaring almost hysterically, "I told you to unsend it! Unsend it right now! Did you hear me?"
