Chapter 164: Chapter 164: My Wife Deserves a Little Punishment
Sophie Shaw’s face reddened. "It wasn’t my idea to get it."
"Oh?"
"It was a wedding gift from your sister."
"..."
’So, she hasn’t even used the gift from our wedding day yet?’
’She’s surprisingly patient.’
’If he’d gotten a gift like that, he would have used it the very next day.’
"Wife."
Sophie Shaw’s heart fluttered nervously. "Hm?"
"Why haven’t you used it?"
"Why haven’t you worn that lingerie set?"
"Afraid I wouldn’t like it?"
...
A barrage of suggestive questions hit her one after another, and Sophie Shaw’s heart began to race.
She had planned to try it on Friday, but she came down with a fever last night, and Alaric Blackwood had said they could postpone the surprise.
She never expected him to find the gift from Nina Halloway.
Seeing she was still silent, Alaric Blackwood placed the handcuffs on the table, snaked a long arm around her waist, and pulled her onto his lap.
"The famous actress was so enthusiastic. We can’t let her gift go to waste."
He casually brought the bowl of congee to her, a half-smile on his face and a look of anticipation in his eyes. "Once my wife is feeling a little better, we’ll try out all those little toys."
Sophie Shaw bit her lip. "All of them?"
"Are you looking forward to it?"
"So, am I handcuffing you, or are you handcuffing me?"
He was usually so clingy, always breaking their "once-a-week-on-Fridays" rule. She had been planning to give him a good whipping, but now that he’d found the things in the box, she felt like the tables had turned and he had seized control.
Alaric Blackwood let out a low chuckle, resting his chin in the crook of her neck. "Which do you prefer, Wife?"
"I..."
Sophie Shaw couldn’t get the words out.
"If my wife can’t make a choice, then I’ll choose for you."
"I didn’t say I can’t choose."
"So, do you want to be the one in cuffs, or..."
"I was planning on whipping you."
Sophie Shaw blurted out the whole truth.
The air froze for a few seconds.
Alaric Blackwood burst out laughing.
’Whip him?’
’In her next life, maybe.’
The man narrowed his charming eyes, a dangerous glint shooting from their depths.
"Looks like my wife needs to be punished."
Sophie Shaw: ?
"As a service-oriented husband, how could I let my wife tire herself out whipping me? Of course, I should be the one servicing you."
"..."
’Why do I feel like he’s leading me into a trap?’
"Wait, that’s not right!"
She looked at Alaric Blackwood in confusion. "Nina gave those things to me, so I have the right to use them."
The man chuckled, about to lead her deeper into his trap, when his phone rang.
He pulled out his phone and glanced at the screen. The caller ID showed Quentin Blackwood.
The smile on his face slowly faded.
’Bianca Kane complained faster than I expected.’
He put the phone to his ear and answered.
"Come back to the old residence now."
Quentin Blackwood said only that one sentence before hanging up.
He couldn’t even tell if his dad’s tone was good or bad.
Putting his phone away, he turned to look at Sophie Shaw. Her face was flushed from his teasing. "Be a good girl and eat, Wife. I have to go out for a bit."
"Where are you going?"
Alaric Blackwood didn’t answer her question. Instead, he reached out and tapped the tip of her elegant nose. "If you get lonely by yourself, have your best friend or my sister come over and keep you company."
He had a gut feeling he might not be able to come back today.
"Remember to check your temperature. If you still have a fever, don’t forget to take your medicine."
After giving his instructions, he gave her butt a light pat. "Be good. Go sit back down and eat."
Sophie Shaw sat down on a nearby chair, a little puzzled. As soon as she was off him, the man stood up and walked out of the dining room, phone in hand.
"When will you be back?"
Alaric Blackwood paused, turned back, and gave Sophie Shaw a slight smile. "Not too long."
As he drove toward the old residence, he thought it over and decided to call Nina Halloway.
"Sophie Shaw had a fever last night. I have to go back to the old residence for something. She’s home alone, so go keep her company for a while. Bring her best friend with you."
Nina Halloway didn’t know he had caused a huge scene at the Kane Family’s house, much less what he would face upon returning to the old residence. She just said, "I have an appointment at three this afternoon, but I can stay with Sophie Shaw until then."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Alaric Blackwood stepped on the gas.
When he pulled into the old residence’s courtyard, he saw an unfamiliar Hongqi sedan through the car window.
The license plate wasn’t local; it was from Silhaven.
He remembered that Bianca Kane had an uncle, Mr. Kane’s younger brother, named Mason Kane. The man wasn’t in Kingsport and rarely came back, as he worked in Silhaven.
He was a public official who had now worked his way up to a section-level cadre.
’Whatever.’
’I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.’
He parked the car calmly, got out, and strode into the house.
Three people were sitting on the sofa in the living room: Quentin Blackwood and Mandy Halloway. Across from them sat none other than Bianca Kane’s uncle, Mason Kane.
The man was in his early sixties, wearing metal-framed glasses, a white shirt, and a tie under a black jacket. He had the distinct air of a government official.
He didn’t notice Alaric Blackwood enter and was still exchanging pleasantries with Quentin Blackwood and Mandy Halloway.
"It’s been a long time since Chief Justice Halloway’s funeral. I haven’t seen Mrs. Halloway in ages."
Mandy Halloway gave a faint smile. "My mother is getting on in years and doesn’t go out much. She prefers to live at our old family home in the countryside, says the air is better and it’s quiet."
Mason Kane smiled, lifted his teacup for a sip, and then caught sight of Alaric Blackwood approaching from the corner of his eye. He silently set the cup down and turned to look.
After looking Alaric Blackwood up and down, he adjusted the glasses on his nose. He ignored him, instead turning to Quentin Blackwood and Mandy Halloway, his amiable expression replaced with a stern one. "This must be your esteemed son?"
Mandy Halloway shot Alaric Blackwood a helpless, exasperated look. "Yes, my son."
Mason Kane had received a call from Bianca Kane last night and had rushed over overnight. He came directly to their door today to demand an explanation for his niece.
"My niece is a grown woman, yet she was publicly humiliated by a junior like him. Director Blackwood, Mrs. Blackwood, how do you propose to resolve this matter?"
Mason Kane didn’t dare get confrontational with the couple. The Blackwood Family’s business was massive, and the Halloway Family’s background and influence were immense.
Mandy Halloway was the second child in her family. Although her father was gone, she still had an older brother, a younger brother, and a younger sister. The Halloways worked either in the courts, the police department, or the prosecutor’s office.
Not a single one of them was to be trifled with.
But it was precisely because of the Halloway Family’s standing that Mason Kane had steeled himself and come.
"Your son broke down the Kane family’s gate, trespassed on private property, and even injured my niece’s family. Even if we call the police, the Kane Family is in the right."
He spoke gravely, his eyes behind his lenses sweeping coolly over Alaric Blackwood before he addressed Quentin Blackwood and Mandy Halloway. "Surely you wouldn’t knowingly shelter your son after he’s made such a mistake?"
"If you do shelter him and this blows up, it won’t be good for either the Blackwood Family or the Halloway Family once word gets out."
"So, either we go through official channels and let the police handle this, or we resolve it privately."
Mason Kane presented them with the choice. "Director Blackwood, Mrs. Blackwood, how would you like to resolve this?"
Mandy Halloway squeezed Quentin Blackwood’s hand tightly. She could see that Mason Kane had come with ill intent and could hear the threat in his words. He was warning them not to protect Alaric Blackwood, or else he would blow the whole thing wide open.
