Chapter 25: One Week’s Rewards...?

Reiji woke up with a flustered expression as he slowly lifted the blanket.

"...Seriously?"

His entire lower body felt sticky and uncomfortable.

Even after spending half the night trying to deal with his frustration and jerking off several times, he still somehow ended up having a wet dream.

Reiji awkwardly scratched the back of his neck before letting out a tired sigh.

"I should probably go wash up." His eyes drifted toward his mess on the bed. "...And clean this too."

After washing the bedsheets and his own clothes, he went downstairs, completed the system’s daily quest, then prepared himself a hot meal for breakfast.

"Thank you for the meal..."

After eating, Reiji quietly washed the dishes before collapsing onto the couch.

The apartment was silent once again.

His eyes drifted toward his phone for a moment before he looked away.

There were no calls.

Reiji closed his eyes and let out a tired sigh.

"...Maybe I should just raid another Gate tomorrow and try to gather the five hundred cores."

Just thinking about it made his head start throbbing.

Reiji opened his phone and entered a short drama app. He didn’t know how long he spent scrolling through random dramas, but before he realized it, evening had already arrived.

What finally broke his intense focus on the drama was the system’s robotic yet weirdly human-like voice suddenly ringing out.

Ding!

[Congratulations Host! It has now been a week since you awakened the Dominion Bond System! ✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧]

Reiji stared at the system interface hovering in front of him with quiet amusement and a bit of joy.

It had officially been one week since he got hit by Truck-kun and transmigrated into this world.

At first, he had been terrified of Hina. But slowly, he adapted. And somewhere along the way, he fell in love with her.

Well, he had once liked the Hina from his previous world too, but because of her sharp-tongued nature and the way she brutally rejected guys, Reiji was someone with extreme pride too, so he didn’t want his self-esteem as a man to be trampled on.

So he buried those feelings deep inside him. But this version of Hina. The girl who gave herself to him completely, body and soul, made him genuinely happy.

Ding!

[You’ve obtained the Key to the Undead King’s Palace!]

Reiji’s eyes snapped open instantly.

"...The Undead King’s Palace?"

For some reason, he suddenly had a very bad feeling about this.

Ever since awakening the system, none of the places connected to it had been remotely normal.

Well, he had only experienced one so far.

But the Soul Torture Chamber definitely wasn’t a place anybody in their right mind would willingly visit.

Ding!

[Where does Host wish to open the gate to the Palace?]

Reiji thought for a moment before speaking.

"...Open it here."

Ding!

[Location confirmed... Please stand back, Host!]

The air suddenly became heavy.

RUMBLE!!!

The entire room, no, the whole apartment trembled violently.

Before Reiji’s shocked eyes, a massive black door suddenly materialized right in the middle of the living room.

CRACK!

The small table nearby shattered instantly from the pressure.

The gigantic door stretched impossibly high, almost touching the ceiling itself.

Ancient runic symbols glowed faintly across the dark surface of the door, giving off an ominous and ancient aura.

At the very top of the door were several words floating like a tag, which he knew very well.

[Undead King’s Palace (D+++)]

"What the hell..." Reiji circled the door. There wasn’t anything attached to the back. It seemed like a plain door with its frame.

Then a keyhole suddenly materialized at the center of the massive door.

At the same time, a black key appeared out of thin air before dropping toward Reiji.

He instinctively caught it.

The key looked like something from ancient times. The head of the key was a tiny skull while the entire thing radiated a cold and sinister aura.

Even the room temperature seemed to drop slightly.

"...Shit."

Reiji subconsciously tightened his grip around the key.

Ding!

[Time Left: 00:01:59]

Reiji stared at the timer confused.

"System, what is the timer for?"

Ding!

[It is the time which the Host is given to enter before the Undead King’s Palace vanishes forever.]

"What?! Wait, you mean that if I don’t enter now it would disappear?! Anyone in their right mind is able to tell that this is clearly a trap and not a reward!" Reiji yelled furiously, but what he got in response was the cold steady rhythmic countdown of the timer.

"Wait... it seems to be going even faster..." Reiji squinted his eyes.

[...]

’I’m just being paranoid.’ he let out a helpless sigh, rushed upstairs to the bedroom, grabbed his coat and came back down.

Since Hina had taken his hoodie, he might as well wear what he had. The cold radiating from the door was no joke even, with his high stats comparable to an E-Rank Awakener he could still feel it. Reiji gritted his teeth as he put the key in and twisted it.

Click!

A soft click rang out followed by a screeching creak as the door slowly opened.

BOOM! freeweɓnovel.cѳm

Reiji stared through the door.

Thick fog completely blocked his line of sight and a chill crawled up his spine. ’This place reminds me of a certain place and I don’t like it one bit.’

Just as Reiji put one foot in, it suddenly sank downward and he started falling. He immediately held onto the door for dear life.

"What the hell?!" he cursed as he stared at the entrance in horror.

There was no ground for him to step on. How on earth was he supposed to enter?

[Time Left: 00:00:28]

From the corner of his eyes, he could still see the timer quietly counting down.

Reiji narrowed his eyes as he summoned the Soul Torture Blade from his inventory.

"I have no choice but to go in. Haha... I guess I’m not in my right mind afterall."

Reiji stepped backward and bolted forward, jumping into the gate and disappearing into the thick fog.

BOOM!

The door closed, but it didn’t disappear. It remained there, quiet and unmoving.

Meanwhile, just outside Reiji’s apartment, at the center of the road, a strong gust of wind suddenly blew, making passersby shiver from the cold.

But what they didn’t notice was how the air seemed to be shifting silently as if it was breaking.
