Chapter 121: Chapter 121; I should kill him

Emily’s POV

I paced back and forth across the bedroom floor, my heels digging sharply into the rug as pure, unadulterated panic clawed at my throat. I couldn’t breathe. I genuinely could not believe that Lucian had just walked in on me having sex with Davon. This was bad. This was so incredibly, profoundly bad.

What the hell was I even thinking? I had gone over to that deserted house strictly to feed Davon more information about Alina, but my twisted desires had gotten the best of me and I ended up fucking him. Fuck.

"Are you okay?" freeωebnovēl.c૦m

Aiden’s deep voice suddenly sliced through the quiet room, causing me to flinch violently. My heart leaped into my throat as I spun around to face my husband.

"Yes!" I forced out, my voice slightly too high as I smoothed down my dress. "Yes, I am completely fine."

Aiden narrowed his eyes slightly, stepping into the room. "Are you entirely sure, Emily? You seem deeply worried about something."

"No, I’m not," I insisted quickly, weaving a defensive mask over my panic.

"Is it because Alina is living here now?" he asked softly, studying my expression.

"Of course not," I lied smoothly, forcing a sweet, compliant smile onto my lips. "I mean... I will just have to accept the reality, won’t I? You are only doing all of this for the sake of your child, right?"

A warm, relieved smile spread across Aiden’s face upon hearing those words. He walked over and gently cupped my cheek. "I am so incredibly glad that you finally understand the situation."

I smiled right back at him, hiding the absolute venom swirling in my chest.

"I’m going to be heading into the office now," Aiden announced, checking his watch. "Alina isn’t home right now anyway; she went over to check on the bakery. So, I need you to look after Leo while I’m gone."

My jaw nearly dropped. "Are you kidding me right now, Aiden? Leo is strictly not my responsibility."

"I know," he sighed gently, kissing my cheek. "But you should really try to see him like your own child, Emily. It would make things easier." With that, he turned on his heel and left the room.

The moment his footsteps faded down the grand corridor, I clenched my fists so hard my manicured nails bit into my palms. Now they want to turn me into that bastard child’s nanny? Unbelievable.

But as I stood there, a dark, wicked smirk slowly played on my lips. Actually... it’s quite good that I am being left alone with him.

I turned and marched straight toward the nursery. When I pushed the double doors open, I found the maids gathered around the crib, playing with the baby. "Leave," I commanded coldly. "I will be taking care of Leo myself."

The maids nodded quickly, bowing their heads as they scurried out of the room.

The very second the heavy doors clicked shut behind them, the innocent smile completely faltered from little Leo’s face. I walked over to the crib and roughly picked him up. The sudden movement startled him, and he instantly began to cry, his little chest heaving.

"You are the exact reason your pathetic excuse of a mother is still in this house, you know," I whispered venomously, staring down into his watery eyes. "If I were to just kill you right now, all of my problems would be completely solved. You would be permanently out of the way, and the child I am currently carrying in my womb would be the one and only heir to the throne. I think that is entirely fair... don’t you think?"

A cruel smirk stretched across my face. Slowly, I let out my sharp claws, letting the lethal tips lightly caress the soft, delicate skin of his cheek. The terrifying pressure caused the baby to scream and cry even louder.

"What the hell do you think you are doing?!"

A sharp, furious voice boomed from the doorway.

My eyes stretched wide in absolute horror. In a fraction of a second, I forced my claws to retract back into normal fingers. I spun around quickly, plastering a sweet, innocent smile on my face as I faced the door.

Alina was standing there, her eyes flashing with pure rage. She marched across the nursery floor, aggressively snatching her baby out of my arms and cradling him tightly against her chest. "What exactly did you do to him to make him cry this much?!" she demanded, her voice shaking.

"I didn’t do a single thing," I lied smoothly, tossing my hair over my shoulder. "I was only trying to warm up to the baby and bond with him, but he honestly seems to completely hate me."

Alina let out a harsh, bitter scoff, rocking the hysterical child. "I wonder why," she muttered with heavy sarcasm.

A deep frown marred my face at her tone. "How are you even here anyway? Aren’t you supposed to be at your bakery right now?"

"That is strictly none of your business, Emily," Alina snapped coldly. free𝑤ebnovel.com

"Whatever," I rolled my eyes, turning on my heel. With a dramatic huff, I walked out of the nursery and slammed the door behind me.

Once I was safely down the hall, I cursed under my breath. Dammit! I should have just killed the brat quickly before Alina showed up. That baby got incredibly lucky today... but next time, he won’t be that lucky.

Just then, my phone violently vibrated in my pocket. I pulled it out and looked at the screen. It was a text from Knox.

Knox: I want to meet with you. Now.

I let out a sharp, frustrated hiss. "Fuck this man!" I muttered, violently pushing my hair backward away from my face.

How the hell was I going to stop dealing with his constant blackmail and demands? I paced the empty hallway, a dark, desperate thought taking root in my mind. Maybe if I just have him killed... that will be the definitive end of it.

A wicked smile slowly returned to my lips as I remembered my hidden stash. I still had some of Ilya’s lethal, toxic substances hidden away in my quarters.

Yes... I thought, my eyes narrowing with pure malice. Maybe I will use that to get rid of Knox for good.
