Chapter 102: Chapter 102: I don’t want to marry Ilya

Lucian’s POV

I walked in a fast circle around the bedroom floor. My hands were deep in my hair. My chest moved up and down with every breath. Heavy fear pressed on my ribs.

Alina sat quietly on the edge of the chaise. She watched me. "Lucian, why are you so stressed? It is just your wedding."

I stopped suddenly. I looked at her with big, scared eyes. "I don’t want to do this, Alina! Look at me. I can’t do this. What if I disappear for a few days? I can pack a bag right now. I do not want to marry Ilya."

A soft look came on her face. She stood up and walked to me. She put her warm hands on my cheeks. She made me look into her eyes.

"You will not marry her," she said in a strong voice. "I will never let that happen, Lucian. You only need to get ready for the wedding tomorrow. That is all."

I swallowed hard. I leaned into her touch. "Can you tell me what you are planning? Just a small hint?"

She laughed softly. Her eyes looked playful. "If I tell you now, it will ruin the fun. It is better this way. Just relax and be happy."

I held her wrists. My voice was low and full of need. "Why can’t we get married instead? We can marry right now. We can leave the country. We can start a new life with Leo. Just the three of us."

Alina’s eyes became soft and warm. "I like that idea, Lucian. We can think about it for our future."

Before I could speak, she stood on her toes and kissed my lips softly. "I have to go now," she said against my mouth. She started to pull away.

I did not want to let her go. I put my arms around her waist. I pulled her close to my chest. I kissed her again. I put all my love, fear, and want into the kiss. A low sound came from my throat as the kiss grew stronger.

Alina gently ended the kiss. She was breathing fast. She put her forehead on mine. She patted my chest and smiled. "You have a big day tomorrow, Lucian. You need rest."

She gave me one last look and left the room.

I pushed my hair back and let out a long breath. I hated everything that was happening. I was trapped. I had to trust Alina with everything. What was she going to do to stop this wedding from happening tomorrow?

A loud knock came at my door. "Come in," I said. I tried to fix my shirt.

The door opened. Boca walked in with Ragnar behind him. Ragnar had his arm tight around Boca’s waist. His eyes were full of love.

Boca looked entirely dead inside. He stopped in the middle of the room, throwing his hands up in utter exhaustion. "Lucian, when the hell are you going to find a cure for this goddamn potion? I seriously cannot continue living like this."

Ragnar immediately pouted, tightening his grip around Boca and nuzzling his neck. "What do you mean by that, Boca? I love you so much. I just want to be with you forever and ever."

A dry, amused half-laugh escaped my lips at the ridiculous sight. I looked at Boca pityingly. "You just have to bear with it for just a few more days, man." freēwēbnovel.com

Suddenly, Ragnar leaned up and planted a wet, passionate kiss right on Boca’s lips.

My eyes widened a fraction in shock.

"Fuck this!" Boca roared, violently pushing a grinning Ragnar away from him. He wiped his mouth aggressively, pointing a warning finger at the giant Beta. "Stay the hell away from me!"

Boca turned on his heel and stormed out of the room to escape. Ragnar didn’t lose his smile for a single second, bouncing on his heels as he quickly followed right beside him down the hall. "You can’t escape the love I have for you, Boca! It’s destiny!"

The moment they were gone, the tight smile faded entirely from my lips. I sat down heavily on the edge of my mattress, staring at the floor. I really, really hope things go exactly as Alina planned, I thought, the weight of tomorrow settling onto my shoulders.

The big courtyard was full of Rogues.

The Moon Goddess came down to the mortal world to bless this wedding. I did not know how Ilya brought her here.

Ilya stood next to me. She looked happy in her white gown. She leaned close and whispered, "Smile, Lucian. It is our big day."

I kept my face blank. I looked around the crowd of wolves, elders, and rogues. I could not see Alina.

Panic rose in my throat. Cold sweat came on my neck. What is happening? I thought. Is she not coming? Am I really going to marry this woman?

The Moon Goddess stepped forward. Her power filled the courtyard. She raised her hands and started to say the sacred vows.

"Stop this wedding!"

The loud voice cut through the silence.

Everyone turned to the entrance. A very tall man walked down the aisle. He was over six feet tall. His long dark hair flowed behind him. He walked with strong confidence.

Everyone started to whisper and gasp.

Ilya’s face instantly drained of all color, her triumphant smile vanishing as her eyes went wide with sheer terror. "What... what are you doing here, Zaheer?" she asked, her voice shaking violently, laced with pure, unadulterated fear.

Zaheer halted at the base of the altar, crossing his massive arms as he glared down at the trembling bride. "What am I doing here, really, Ilya?" he mocked, a dark, dangerous chuckle escaping him. "You literally abandoned your own husband just to come all the way across the borders and remarry another Alpha?"

My eyes widened in total shock, my heart stopping in my chest as I stared between them. freewёbnoνel.com
