Chapter 7: Transcendent Source

Towards the middle of the mass of disciples, trying to discreetly shove and push his way out of the mass of disciples was a man dressed in outer disciple robes.

He, rather uniquely, had shorter hair at shoulder length, with a scar across his neck.

Qianye didn’t believe that he had only just started trying to get out, and thus came to the conclusion that he must have been to the front of the pack when he had broken out of the shack to save her.

’Perfect timing,’ he rejoiced, and then as he heard Meng Jue’s declaration, calling for the disciplinary hall agents, a euphoric rush filled him.

He disregarded what was going on with Meng Jue and spoke to the disciples. freёwebnoѵel.com

He raised his free hand, and the bloodied finger pointed directly at the back of the man’s head and said, "Kindly, stop that outer disciple with the scar across his neck."

All of the disciples urgently snapped their heads in his direction.

At the same time, the disciples head wrenched back, a look of shock and horror mangling it. Then he tore it back forward and all his discretion was sent down to hell.

"MOVE! Move!" He began shoving, kicking and clawing his way through, disrupting the crowd and garnering even more attention.

At the same time, the inner disciples, Xiao Bo and Mo Chen were looking curiously, with furrowed brows at the commotion that was being caused.

Simultaneously, Meng Jue’s countenance had fallen silent and serious as the light beaming from the token dissipated and he let his hand fall down.

Qianye grinned mentally, appreciative of the favour, and by this point, the disciples had reacted:

"Stop him!"

"Hand him over to Senior Ouyang!"

They were all immediately willing to sacrifice the disciple. Especially seeing the man’s reaction.

Why would he bring attention to himself in the first place by trying to leave? It served him right that he ended up catching the devils attention!

’Cultivators are really a different breed of fickle.’ Qianye briefly thought to himself witnessing them.

Suddenly, his eyes widened a little.

He felt a strange agitation in the air. He wrenched his head to look at the sky swiftly, and for a moment, he couldn’t exactly pinpoint what he had felt.

Then something broke through the low clouds.

The inner disciples looked up there next, only after the mass had broken through and was flying down, and their faces shone brilliantly.

"Ha! Ouyang Qianye, prepare yourself!" Xiao Bo immediately shouted.

Qianye didn’t bother with him as his pupils constricted and his brows tensed faintly.

’Flying in on a sword? These people really like to be flashy!’ He mentally laughed nervously, taken by amazement at the sight.

He wanted to fly on a sword as well! He wanted to feel what it was like to be a cultivator! And despite being filled with this wonder, and the worries gripping his heart, he kept his face straight.

Soon enough, thanks to Xiao Bo’s shout, the outer disciples who had been none the wiser to it all or occupied with Qianye’s request, finally looked up. Their faces were stricken with both awe and fear.

Everyone then felt the wind become restless, tousling their hair and their robes and the trees that were around the yard freeweɓnøvel.com

The orange bird that had holed itself up in the tree suddenly snapped its head back out of its nest. This time, without searching for whatever threat the commotion was coming from, it briskly flew away.

From behind him, Qianye caught a few murmurs from the disciples.

"Even a supervisor came with the enforcers. I’m afraid we might be lucky to only escape with being exiled from the sect at this rate."

"We can only pray to the heavens he grants us mercy. That crooked Ouyang Qianye coerced us!"

"As long as we kowtow and side with inner disciple Meng Jue in support I’m sure we will be fine."

Meanwhile, soaring down from the sky a flying sword large enough that it could allow a dozen people to stand down its length as they flew, glided majestically. The estimate of a dozen was a conservative number, allowing for considerable personal space between them. And right now, there were only three individuals riding the sword.

Qianye, without acknowledging them, began to walk forward. At the same time, Meng Jue and the other inner disciples walked forwards as well. It was mandatory to greet ones elders first.

The three individuals dropped down from the sword, their robes fluttering down easily.

Firstly, the enforcers landed while the supervisor, draped in white robes, his hands clasped behind his back, eyed the whole crowd evenly, looming over them all as the sword shrunk to a handheld size and then flew itself into a pouch that hung at his hip.

Ouyang Qianye felt a chill run through him noticing how the supervisor’s attention lingered over him in particular.

The man had white stubble and long hair. His figure was as straight as a sword and rigorously maintained with exercise. Whether his attention was focused on him because of the blood all across his body or because of the fact he was still a rather hot topic throughout the sect as the fallen Core Disciple, he did not know.

’A Transcendent Source realm cultivator really isn’t to be messed with,’ he thought seriously as his countenance sobered more.

It was a very different thing reading about how the presence of a higher cultivation base cultivator affected those lower than them. Now, looking back on it, those descriptions, even as flashy and exaggerated as they might have seemed then, were not unwarranted.

Then he noticed the attention of the enforcers.

They weren’t disciples, so even their cultivation was not to be trifled with, especially for a cripple like him. Their Profound Transformation realm cultivation was leagues away from him.

He set his legs together properly and brought his cupped hands forwards, with the edge of the sword pointed to the ground. Then he lowered himself into a bow that came naturally.

"Disciple greets the supervisor and enforcers!" Qianye and the inner disciples spoke at the same time.

Then the outer disciples resounded in unison as they all gave their bows:

"These humble disciples greet the supervisor and enforcers!"

The enforcers only gave them acknowledging nods. And then, the supervisor descended as his gaze fell onto Meng Jue who held the distress token.

"Inner Disciple Meng Jue," The man spoke evenly and it did not seem like he was speaking loudly but everyone heard his voice crisply, "proceed with your explanation to why you have summoned us."

Qianye lifted himself straight as the supervisor landed softly over the concrete.

Then, Meng Jue lifted his grave, bullied countenance, as did the two other inner disciples.

"Supervisor Han, I have summoned you to report disciple Ouyang Qianye and his servant. I believe they are complicit in the greatest of offences, in practicing profane cultivation."
