Chapter 16: In Their Wake
The disciples still left gathered around began muttering between each other once more:
"Kicking a dead dog so brutally..."
"I hope I never offend someone so tyrannical... How will I have the face to return to my shared residence room? Will all twelve of my roommates not take turns making a fool of me every two hours? I would never rest!"
"Enough."
Elder Han’s voice silenced them immediately. His eyes had coldly remained on Meng jue, and he continued:
"Meng Jue," the goblins head creaked in the elder’s direction, as he continued, "After disgracing the sect, your family and yourself, the least you must do is apologize."
And there, for several seconds, Meng Jue remained motionless.
Then he lowered his head again. Then very slowly, as if each fraction of movement was as toiling to suffer as breaking through realms in Body Refinement, he lowered himself to his knees.
"...I was wrong," his words were hardly audible.
Qianye immediately frowned, shaking his head with a sigh.
"That is the furthest thing from sincere I have ever heard." Then he tapped the tip of the sword against the ground, "Not to mention, you have not properly pressed your forehead to the ground. When you apologize to your father, is your head always so high and your voice so meek?"
Meng Jue’s shoulders began to shake, and the disciples witnessing it silently thought that he might explode soon enough and only dig himself a deeper grave.
"I..." The words creaked out of him like a rusted machine being forced to move its joints.
He lowered his head a little more.
"I... apologize for insulting you and accusing you."
Qianye only scoffed, and all of the disciples in witness grimaced. He still wasn’t satisfied!?
And this time, Elder Han intervened.
A pressure descended upon Meng Jue and his forehead slammed onto the ground, cracking the stone. Meng Jue groaned deeply, hissing through his sharp breath.
"Ouyang Qianye, I sincerely apologize for insulting you and your elf servant with accusations of profanity and blindly orchestrating an assassination against you! I beg for your forgiveness!" Each word sounded like it was being torn from Meng Jue’s flesh as he uttered it.

And only then did Ouyang Qianye smile. Elder Han released his pressure and that relief, as Meng Jue drew in a deep breath, had Meng Jue draw in a deep breath and inadvertently raise himself.
Seeing that smile on Qianye’s face, that gentle, forgiving smile, it looked as if Meng Jue was about to vomit blood.
"See?"
Qianye gave a relieved laugh, clasping his hands behind his back as he turned, walking down to head back into his shack.
"That wasn’t so difficult now, was it? You may relieve me of your presence."

With his back to everyone, Qianye finally allowed himself a wide grin. How satisfied he was!
"All disciples, return to your cultivation!" Elder Han’s voice boomed, and the disciples began scattering like disturbed ants.
At the same time, the elven woman, having been disgraced and abused only a short while ago, now stood tall as she walked a step and a half behind her master, her hands clasped to the front of her as her long hair, yet to be returned to its neat bun, fluttered faintly without touching the ground.
From behind himself, Qianye heard the sharp sound of the flying sword appear once more.
Then Elder Han’s voice came again:
"You three inner disciples will be coming with us. Your transgressions are too grave to be decided on arbitrarily. You will all be imprisoned and then judged before the council."
’Elder Han is rather considerate...’ Ouyang Qianye silently laughed to himself. He was a little discontented about the end result, but ultimately this would have to do. ’It is not all bad though, even if it might be troublesome in the future. This way I suppose I can see if the fortuity of those Destined recovers over time after I have plundered it or not.’
There, Qianye heard the sound of their footsteps leaving the ground, and then came the sound of Han Tieliang’s flying sword whisking them away swiftly.
After the performance that he had just given, he was sure that the man wanted to get as far away from him as possible before he started making things a lot more difficult.
Perhaps he would have, if he did not know what consequences would await him if he pushed things too far, however, ultimately, as a transmigrator who remembered what happened here rather well enough, the Elder’s worries were needless, as much as they were warranted.
After all, who wouldn’t take things too far after being assassinated by some destined, aggressive idiot that would benefit greatly from your death as a fodder villain?
At the same time, within those several seconds, the outer disciples that had gathered had made themselves scarce.
Ouyang Qianye was left, crossing right past the threshold into his shack with his servant elf at his back, staring at the blood that carpeted the ground.
Without hesitating, he walked himself into the shack.
Ouyang Qianye, from behind him, heard her footsteps halt at the door for several moments.
