Chapter 370: Chapter 370: Heading to Jincheng

Luo Feng was naturally aware of the overt and covert struggles among the Ten Core Disciples. Frankly, such conflicts existed in any major power, which was why Luo Feng and the Six Supreme Elders paid them no mind.

Hearing this, Lin Yun nodded. "Yes, Palace Master. However, Jincheng is thousands of miles from the Flawless Palace. I have a small request."

"You want to ride a Firebird?" Luo Feng asked.

"That’s right."

Firebirds were the signature mounts of Flawless Palace. Ordinary Disciples could never dream of such an honor; even very few Direct Disciples had ever ridden one.

In Flawless Palace, besides the Main Seat Elders, Supreme Elders, and Core Disciples, no one else was permitted to ride a Firebird when traveling outside.

Staring at Lin Yun for a moment, a hint of a smile touched Luo Feng’s eyes. "Little guy, I knew you’d be a handful. Very well. The journey to Jincheng is indeed long. I permit you to go to Demon Beast Ridge and choose a Firebird."

"Thank you, Palace Master." Hearing Luo Feng’s approval, Lin Yun bowed in gratitude.

"Don’t thank me just yet. The Firebirds are Tier Four Demon Beasts; whether you can tame one will depend on your own skill. If you can’t make a Firebird submit, then there’s nothing I can do. You’ll just have to walk there." As he spoke, the smile on Luo Feng’s face grew wider.

Lin Yun scoffed internally at Luo Feng’s words. ’Tame one? You seriously underestimate me. I wouldn’t even deign to look at an ordinary Firebird. If I’m going to ride one, it has to be a Pure-blooded Firebird.’

As it happened, Lin Yun already had a promise with that Pure-blooded Firebird to take it out for a trip.

If Luo Feng knew that Lin Yun had already reached an agreement with *his* own mount, who knows what he would think. That Pure-blooded Firebird was Luo Feng’s personal mount; not even the Six Supreme Elders had ever ridden it.

With Luo Feng’s approval, Lin Yun left the Main Hall and made his way to the entrance of Demon Beast Ridge. The area was unchanged from his first visit, with one exception: the small courtyard destroyed by the Celestial Punishment had been rebuilt.

"Disciple Lin Yun pays his respects to the Supreme Elder," Lin Yun called out respectfully toward the courtyard.

"Lin Yun, what brings you to Demon Beast Ridge again?" The Supreme Elder’s voice rang out not long after Lin Yun had spoken.

"I am heading to Jincheng on the Palace Master’s orders. As the journey is long, the Palace Master has permitted me to select a Firebird as a mount," Lin Yun announced clearly.

After hearing this, the Supreme Elder opened the entrance to Demon Beast Ridge and added a warning, "You must be out within one hour."

At these words, Lin Yun bowed and quickly entered Demon Beast Ridge. The moment he stepped inside, the Array sealed the entrance once more.

"Huh? Why are we back here? Big Bro, are we going to hunt Demon Beasts?" Little Ape, who had been sleeping soundly in Lin Yun’s robes, sensed the familiar aura of Demon Beast Ridge and poked his head out to ask.

"Hunt more?" Lin Yun replied with a small smile. "If we kill any more, those old geezers will probably come after my life."

"Oh." Since they weren’t there to hunt Demon Beasts, Little Ape lost interest. He tossed a Three-Stars Qi Essence Pill into his mouth and immediately went back to sleep.

Ever since breaking through to become a Tier Three Demon Beast, Little Ape was no longer satisfied with Three-Stars Qi Essence Pills and had complained to Lin Yun many times. But there was nothing to be done. Lin Yun didn’t have any better Elixirs on him right now. ’I can’t just feed him a Spring Breeze Soft Rain Pill, can I?’

’I have to find some better Elixirs for Little Ape soon,’ Lin Yun thought. ’This little fella burns through money way too fast.’

As Lin Yun ventured deeper into Demon Beast Ridge, the Tier Three Demon Beasts within sensed his aura and scattered in terror. To them, he was an omen of death.

Since he wasn’t here to hunt them this time anyway, Lin Yun paid them no mind. He hadn’t walked far when the sky above him suddenly went dark. An enormous Firebird descended from above, landing right in front of him.

Lin Yun looked minuscule in front of the Firebird. The creature looked down at him and roared with feigned viciousness, "Brat, you broke your promise! I’m going to eat you today!"

"Easy now, I’m here to take you out, aren’t I?" Lin Yun replied with a smile. "Let’s go. Come with me for a trip to Jincheng."

At Lin Yun’s answer, the Firebird’s tone softened a little. "Hmph. I’ll give you credit for being sensible. Otherwise, Master Niao here would have torn you limb from limb!"

"Haha, come on, let’s go. Enough chitchat." With a laugh, Lin Yun leaped, intending to jump onto the Firebird’s back. But just as he was in mid-air, the Firebird flapped its massive wings slightly, and a furious gust of wind blew him back to the ground.

"What do you think you’re doing?" the Firebird demanded, glaring at Lin Yun.

"I should be asking you the same thing! How am I supposed to get to Jincheng if I don’t ride you?" Lin Yun retorted, annoyed.

The Firebird was left speechless. As Luo Feng’s exclusive mount and a Pure-blooded Firebird, it should, by all rights, never allow a mere Primordial Ocean Realm ant like Lin Yun to ride on its back.

The strange thing was, however, that it didn’t have a bad feeling about Lin Yun. The two of them had gotten along reasonably well. On top of that, it had personally witnessed Little Ape’s breakthrough, so it knew that neither Lin Yun nor Little Ape were ordinary beings.

After struggling internally for a moment, the Firebird finally gave in. "Fine. On account of you keeping your promise, I’ll allow it just this once."

"You really are arrogant," Lin Yun muttered irritably. He leaped up again, and this time, the Firebird didn’t stop him. Lin Yun landed smoothly on its back.

"Let’s go," Lin Yun said softly. At his command, the Firebird gave a mighty flap of its wings, and its enormous body instantly soared into the heavens.

They flew straight to the entrance of Demon Beast Ridge. As if sensing their approach, the Array at the entrance opened before Lin Yun even had a chance to speak.

As they flew out of Demon Beast Ridge, Lin Yun bowed toward the small courtyard. "Thank you, Supreme Elder."

He received no response. Having finally gotten out, the Firebird was incredibly excited and kept urging Lin Yun to leave quickly.

That day, numerous Disciples of Flawless Palace saw an immense Firebird fly out of Demon Beast Ridge and away from the palace. Standing on its back was a youth in green robes.

"That’s... the Palace Master’s Flame Bird," a Main Seat Elder exclaimed, recognizing the creature.

Back in the small courtyard, a smile touched the lips of the Supreme Elder guarding Demon Beast Ridge. He muttered to himself, "That little guy... he actually rode off on Luo Feng’s Firebird. Heh, interesting."
