Chapter 1758 - I Want Him Dead!
As dawn broke over the city, the shops lining the streets opened their doors for business. Liu Wuxie carried forty-seven interspatial rings and intended to exchange their contents for supplies before returning to the Azure Flame Dao Hall. More than anything, he hoped to acquire pills that could push his cultivation toward the upper levels of the High Immortal Realm as quickly as possible. In the celestial realm, greater strength meant a greater chance of survival.
Although enemies did not surround him, his circumstances remained far from ideal. He could clearly sense the hostility hidden within the gazes of many mentors in the Azure Flame Dao Hall. The thought of leaving had crossed his mind, but doing so would force him to begin everything from scratch.
Without sufficient strength, he would suffer oppression no matter where he went. The cultivation world was a ruthless place where the strong preyed upon the weak, and everyone fought for themselves. Power earned respect, while the weak lacked even the qualification to speak.
As Liu Wuxie sorted through the interspatial rings, his eyes twitched involuntarily. Even he hadn't expected the underground fight club to yield nearly three million immortal stones. The true immortals had been especially wealthy, each carrying hundreds of thousands of immortal stones.
Beyond that, he discovered a vast collection of weapons, herbs, and countless other resources. Several pills had also appeared among the spoils, but most were ordinary third-grade immortal pills that offered little benefit. At best, they could increase his immortal energy.
He also uncovered a large stockpile of blacksmithing materials. With those resources, he could further temper and strengthen the Bloodthirst Blade.
Along the way, Diao Jiuzhi repeatedly offered his apologies. The thought that his recklessness had nearly gotten so many people killed weighed heavily on him.
"If you want to make up for it, you can work for me in the future to offset your tuition fees," Liu Wuxie said as he withdrew his divine sense from the interspatial rings.
"Mentor, just give me any order. I'll get the tasks done no matter what!" Diao Jiuzhi declared, thumping his chest. Even if the task demanded his life, he wouldn't hesitate.
Liu Wuxie had only recently arrived in the celestial realm. Everything here marked a fresh beginning. He needed information, yet manpower was the one thing he lacked most.
For now, he had no idea how many of the enemies who once hunted him still lived. He had considered rebuilding the Heavenly Dao Society in the celestial realm, but the effort would require far too much time. In the end, he shelved the idea for the moment.
Once his cultivation reached a sufficient level, he could open the immortal gate and bring his family and friends to the celestial realm.
"No rush. We have to buy pills first," Liu Wuxie said.
Diao Jiuzhi and the other two were far too weak. They couldn't even travel beyond a radius of ten thousand miles, much less gather intelligence for him. He would need to wait until they became stronger. In the meantime, he could assign them smaller tasks to ease the psychological burden they carried.
Whether he could find a Soul Healing Pill or not, Liu Wuxie intended to try.
"The Pill Chamber..."
The group arrived before an elegant establishment. The shop had only just opened for business, and very few customers had arrived. Coincidentally, Liu Wuxie's group became the day's first customers.
Rows of display counters showcased countless pills. Diao Jiuzhi and the other two had never visited a place like this before, and excitement immediately lit up their faces as they looked around.
An ordinary second-grade immortal pill sold for five thousand immortal stones. Third-grade immortal pills cost several times more, with even common varieties easily exceeding tens of thousands of immortal stones. Pills that aided cultivation commanded even steeper prices, often surpassing one hundred thousand immortal stones. Even many true immortals couldn't afford such luxuries.
Liu Wuxie barely spared the third-grade immortal pills a glance. He had recently refined the Fire Spiritual Pill, which meant similar pills would no longer produce significant effects unless he could obtain a higher-grade variant.
The desolate world had expanded considerably after the creation of the Veiled Realm. As a result, even refining additional Fire Spiritual Pills would accomplish very little.
Fourth-grade immortal pills were even rarer. Since they corresponded to the Spirit Immortal Realm, each one carried a price tag of hundreds of thousands of immortal stones.
Even Ye Linghan possessed, at most, only tens of thousands of immortal stones.
Liu Wuxie had accumulated such wealth only because the underground fight club's combatants were seasoned veterans. Had they been ordinary cultivators, a true immortal possessing ten or twenty thousand immortal stones would already have been impressive.
Fifth-grade immortal pills were exceptionally scarce within the Pill Chamber. Even the cheapest among them cost three hundred thousand immortal stones. Pills capable of assisting a profound immortal's cultivation could easily cost one million immortal stones.
As for sixth-grade immortal pills, they rarely appeared on the market. Refining them required ingredients that were even more difficult to obtain.
Liu Wuxie asked after sweeping his gaze through the chamber and failing to spot one, "Shopkeeper, do you sell Soul Healing Pills here?"
"I'm sorry, but it has been years since the Soul Healing Pill last appeared on the market," the shopkeeper replied apologetically.
A trace of disappointment flickered across Liu Wuxie's face. Although he had expected such an answer, hearing it still left him somewhat discouraged.
Liu Wuxie's gaze landed on a set of pills. He said, looking at them, "Give me three Crimson Water Pills."
Among the countless pills on display, only the Crimson Water Pills held value for him because they contained water-attributed energy. Logically, after refining the Fire Spiritual Pill, he should've avoided refining anything with water attributes due to the conflict between the two elements.
However, the desolate world differed from ordinary cultivation systems. Though water and fire clashed upon contact, they could also form yin and yang. Only by balancing softness and firmness and harmonizing yin and yang could one approach true perfection.
If fire-attributed energy became too dominant, it would damage the kidneys. If water-attributed energy accumulated excessively, it would harm the heart. Only when both elements remained balanced could the desolate world evolve into a complete world.
The shopkeeper couldn't hide his surprise. Liu Wuxie was only a third-level High Immortal, yet he intended to purchase three Crimson Water Pills in one transaction. Based on his cultivation, he should have been consuming second-grade immortal pills at most.
Although the Pill Chamber imposed no cultivation restrictions on purchases, an ordinary high immortal could never afford three Crimson Water Pills worth three hundred thousand immortal stones.
For a normal high immortal, a single pill would be enough to raise their cultivation by an entire level. Liu Wuxie bought three to ensure he had enough. The desolate world's requirements far exceeded those of ordinary cultivators, and purchasing two extra pills posed no disadvantage.
Without hesitation, Liu Wuxie produced three hundred thousand immortal stones and tossed them onto the counter.
The moment the shopkeeper saw the immortal stones, his expression shifted dramatically.
"Young Master, please hold on while I go retrieve them for you," he said.
Even his manner of address changed. He had already mistaken Liu Wuxie for the young master of a major clan in Eastern Emperor City.
After all, only disciples from powerful clans could spend such a staggering amount of immortal stones so casually.
"Each of you go pick one as well," Liu Wuxie said, turning toward Ye Linghan and the others.
"We don't need anything!" Diao Jiuzhi replied, waving his hands repeatedly. His recklessness had nearly cost Liu Wuxie his life, and he didn't dare ask for more.
"I won't stand on ceremony then," Ye Linghan replied.
She showed no restraint and selected a third-grade immortal pill with yin-cold attributes. Once she refined it, she would be able to reach the Quasi-Origin Immortal Realm.
The pill cost far more than a Crimson Water Pill, with a price tag of two hundred thousand immortal stones. Under normal circumstances, Ye Linghan would never have purchased it.
"Give me another fifty Beacon Cloud Pills," Liu Wuxie said after receiving the Crimson Water Pills.
The Beacon Cloud Pills were second-grade spiritual pills and far more affordable. Thirty of them cost only one hundred thousand immortal stones.
The shopkeeper quickly produced five porcelain bottles, each containing ten pills.
"These are for you. Increase your cultivation to the higher levels of the High Immortal Realm as soon as possible," Liu Wuxie said as he handed a bottle to each member of Diao Jiuzhi's group.
"Mentor, we can't take it," Diao Jiuzhi protested, refusing to take the pills.
"Take them!" Liu Wuxie insisted in a much harsher tone.
The three immediately accepted the bottles, their expressions tense and nervous.
Since Liu Wuxie intended to use them in the future, he naturally needed to raise their cultivation to the highest possible level. He wasn't giving the pills away out of charity. Moreover, without their involvement, he would never have earned three million immortal stones in the first place. Strictly speaking, he owed them thanks for providing the opportunity to acquire such resources.
After completing their purchases, the group of five left the Pill Chamber. Liu Wuxie then visited a herbal shop, where he purchased a large quantity of spiritual herbs.
In the blink of an eye, nearly two million immortal stones vanished from his pocket. Throughout the entire journey, Ye Linghan repeatedly called him a wastrel.
Yet Liu Wuxie viewed things differently. Immortal pills existed to increase cultivation. If they couldn't improve one's strength, then they were no different from worthless trash. Holding on to them served no purpose otherwise.
Many cultivators failed to understand that principle. They spent their entire lives guarding small fortunes like misers, unaware that wealth could be transformed into strength rather than merely accumulated.
Morning had fully arrived, and the morning class would begin soon. However, before Liu Wuxie's group could enter the courtyard, they noticed a large crowd gathered outside.
"Xiang Rulong, what's going on here?" Ye Linghan asked when she spotted the crowd surrounding her courtyard.
Xiang Rulong stood among them, looking as though someone had driven him out.
"Mentor Ye, you're finally back! Mentor Bai Jingye is throwing a temper tantrum inside, and he has injured Shi Wa. When Xiao Qian tried to stop him, he also struck her away with a palm strike," Xiang Rulong reported immediately.
A large number of mentors and students had gathered nearby. No one had expected such an explosive incident to erupt so early in the morning.
"Bai Jingye?" Ye Linghan frowned the moment she heard the name. Bai Jingye taught spiritual talismans, and their paths had never crossed. She couldn't understand why he had suddenly barged into her courtyard and caused such a disturbance. Openly injuring students in broad daylight was utterly outrageous.
Only Liu Wuxie reacted differently. A faint frown appeared on his face.
"He might be here for me," Liu Wuxie said before pushing through the crowd and entering the courtyard.
The sight that greeted him was complete devastation. Ye Linghan had painstakingly cleaned the courtyard only yesterday, yet Bai Jingye had reduced it to a mess.
Bai Jingye had kicked open the door to Liu Wuxie's room. Shi Wa lay covered in blood within the courtyard, while Xiao Qian, with a bright red palm print visible on her cheek, busily wrapped his wounds with bandages.
When Bai Jingye saw Ye Linghan, viciousness flickered through his eyes.
"Bai Jingye, what are you trying to do by barging into my courtyard and injuring my students?" Ye Linghan demanded as frigid energy surged from her body, plummeting the surrounding temperature.
"Ye Linghan, I don't have time to argue with you right now. They're just pieces of trash, and it wouldn't matter even if they died," Bai Jingye said.
Clearly, he had no intention of clashing with Ye Linghan. Her father was the city lord of Fourfold City and had already reached the Divine Immortal Realm. Even within the Azure Flame Dao Hall, people still had to show her some measure of respect.
After being addressed as trash, Shi Wa struggled back to his feet and drew his dagger, ready to charge forward.
"Brother!" Xiao Qian rushed over and grabbed him, preventing him from acting recklessly. After all, Bai Jingye had already reached the Profound Immortal Realm and possessed overwhelming cultivation.
"I want to kill him!" Shi Wa roared. Veins bulged across his face, making him resemble a starving wolf poised to rip apart its prey.
Bai Jingye completely ignored the threat. Instead, he shifted his gaze toward Liu Wuxie.
"You're Liu Wuxie?" His eyes locked onto him like two sharp blades.
Xiang Rulong, Zhang Dashan, and the others followed Liu Wuxie closely.
"I am," Liu Wuxie replied with a nod. With so many people present, there was no reason to conceal his identity.
"You killed my nephew, and I'll tear you into pieces!" Bai Jingye's furious roar shook the courtyard as murderous intent burst from him like a raging tide.
